Academic excellence

Staff say... Students say...

Dear Prospective Candidate, Our aim is to transform the lives of all of its pupils by giving them the skills, attitudes and academic qualifications to flourish in any career and live happy and healthy lives. We believe that every child deserves a life of choice and opportunity, and know that an excellent education, delivered by teachers who take the time to build positive relationships with pupils and their families, will support the achievement of this goal. As Headteacher and part of the founding team at Reach, I am proud to work alongside a team of colleagues who are committed to prove that family background, socio-economic status, or prior experience of education should not limit a child's potential. We are a small school, and therefore are able to place the children at the heart of everything that we do. We organise the curriculum and the school systems so that pupils can experience consistency from Reception, all the way to our Sixth Form. Both staff and students use our five central values - Reflect, Endeavour, Aspire, Show Courage and Have Fun - in every-thing that they do, and they drive our culture everywhere.

Together, we teach our students to make big goals, work hard, and enjoy their learning. Our successful results, from the Early Learning Goal to our A Levels are examples of the success and achievement brought about by this ethos. However, we know that successful teaching and learning is also reliant on quality professional develop-ment, which is why we ensure that each teacher receives individual coaching every week to ensure continuous development.

The school is located in central Feltham, only a short walk from the train station, and because of excellent transport links, staff are able to commute from leafy Surrey or central London. The future of Reach Academy is bright, as we are opening a second school, and are devel-oping a Children's Hub; we want to build a group of committed individ-uals who can be part of something much bigger. If you would like to find out more, please do get in touch and come and see us for yourself.

Safer recruitment process

Reach Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

In order to meet this responsibility all candidates will be subjected to a rigorous selection process to discourage and screen out unsuitable

applicants. This process is outlined below. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if further detail is required.

Disclosure This post is classified as having substantial access to children, and appointment is subject to an enhanced police check of previous criminal convictions

(CRB). Applicants are required, before appointment, to disclose any conviction, caution or binding over including ‘spent convictions’ under the Rehabilitation of Of-

fenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) Order 1975. Non-disclosure may lead to termination of employment. However, disclosure of a criminal background will not necessarily

debar individuals from employment – this will depend upon the nature of the offence(s) and when they occurred. Short listing Short listing will occur after the closing

date Interview Candidates will be subject to an in-depth, in-person interview and assessment, along with a telephone interview in some circumstances. At each stage

of the process candidates will be asked to address any discrepancies, anomalies or gaps in their application form or arising from information gained at the previous

stage of the recruitment process. Reference checking References from the previous and current employers will be taken up for shortlisted candidates, possibly be-

fore interview, and where necessary employers may be contacted to gather further information or address any discrepancies, anomalies or gaps in the reference provid-

ed. Probation All new staff will be subject to a probation period (which may, in certain circumstances, be extended by up to 10 weeks). The probation period is a trial

period, to enable the assessment of an employee’s suitability for the job for which they have been employed. It provides Reach Academy with the opportunity to moni-

tor and review the performance of new staff in relation to various areas, but also in terms of their commitment to safeguarding and relationships with pupils. Equal Op-

portunities Reach Academy is dedicated to providing equal opportunities and will monitor the recruitment process rigorously to ensure fair access and opportunity

for all.
