The Canadian Cowboys Association (CCA) is the largest semi- pro rodeo association in Canada. The CCA office is located in Regina SK. and is governed by a board of directors and has input from representatives in each major event including the stock contractors and judges. The CCA proudly supports youth and education and offers a scholarship to a cowboy and cowgirl in secondary school. The CCA also provides free memberships to the finalists in all seven events in High School rodeo. The CCA is committed to and invites input on programs to recruit youth to rodeo.

The CCA annuallysanctions over 60 rodeos in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta and Ontario. The level of competition is outstanding with rough stock scores and timed event runs as good as any level of rodeo anywhere. Many CCA contestants have made it to the Canadian Finals Rodeo and the National Finals and some of our CCA competitors are young enough to make the National High School Finals.

The CCA was founded in 1963 with 60 members and has grown to over 900 members across Canada. The membership segment includes a full range of contestants and ages. The CCA is made up of men and women working in the corporate world managing businesses, teachers, nurses and of course ranchers and fulltime cowboys, not to mention whole families that rodeo and travel up and down the road all year. CCA members are part of the community involved in many local boards and charities. The CCA also supports Novice and Junior events and youth are an important part of the associations future.

It is estimated that rodeo attracts 30 million fans across North America and attendance at CCA rodeos has been estimated at over 200,000. The CCA’s mission is to promote the sport of rodeo and is committed to attracting new cowboys and cowgirls, increase spectators and attract the media to the tradition and heritage of the sport and the families that make up the CCA.

Local rodeo committees organize the CCA sanctioned rodeos across Canada. Most are run by a very dedicated group of volunteers and assisted by equally dedicated stock contractors that work hard to produce the events and raise funds for local community projects that benefit all people.

In 2005 the CCA Finals were moved to Regina SK as part of the Western Canadian Agribition. The CCA is proud to be involved with Agribition now in our eighth year headlining one the biggest cattle and agricultural shows in North America. We look forward to another outstanding rodeo with you.

RAM Rodeo Tour brought the Royal Canadian Riding Academy to life with 3 great days of rodeo. The sponsors supported the final event in full efforts. McIver Chrysler helped promote the event while on site Lone Star Texas Grill ran the Saloon with the Lone Star girls serving Laker Beer and Alberta Premium Rye all weekend long. The Lone Star Saloon featured video playbacks of the rodeo action as well as the 2012 Calgary Stampede while the fans met and partied with the cowboys. The Famous Lone Star Tortilla Chips were served ,raising monies for Camp Bucko (Ont. Children’s burn camp) The atmosphere was great.

The competition was tremendous with the competitors going head to head through 3 shows. Perhaps the best roping events we have seen all year. The ground at Royal Canadian Riding Academy was perfect and the bucking stock was outstanding, Joe Shaw and Stuart Pletcher brought a great pen of stock and brought the crowds to their feet Saturday with their Eliminator pen putting on a show,

Congratulations to the Champions. See www.ontariorodeo.com for full results

Thank you to all the Cowboys and Cowgirls that have made this the most successful year in our 15 year history. We look forward to an even better 2013. The Toronto Royal Fair will take place November 4th as our best go against the best from the west.

NOTICE: The CCA Office is going to be switching to Direct Deposit rather than physical cheques for the Rodeo Payout. In order to accomplish this we need to collect banking information from all of our members. We will require all competing members to send us a VOID Cheque. They can do this 2 ways….by mail or by giving a VOID cheque to the Rodeo Secretary at a Rodeo when they pay their entrée fees. The secretaries will have a spreadsheet that they will fill out once the member gives the secretary the VOID cheque to hand in to the Office. The Office will keep this VOID cheque on file and directly deposit winnings from every rodeo.

Cowtown has graciously offered up their place of business for this yearʼs finals registration. Registration will be upstairs, and they will be providing snacks and refreshments as well as a gift certificate and special in store discounts on specified merchandise for contestants. In return, they have asked us to set up our registration schedule in a way that will not create a traffic jam in their parking lot. Cowtown still needs to be able to provide service to their customers and we ask that you respect that and do your best to follow the schedule that we have set out.

If you are able to, we recommend that you register on Monday to help alleviate some of the congestion on Tuesday. If you are coming in on Tuesday, we ask that you try and register during the time set out for your event. We understand that this may not work for everyone, but we would appreciate your help. Please keep in mind that timed event horses will not be allowed on CWA grounds until after 12pm on Tuesday.

2012 CCA FINALS RODEO – GROUND RULES

Contestants MUST REGISTER before they will be allowed on the Canadian Western Agribition (CWA) grounds. Registration will take place upstairs at Cowtown located at 745 Park Street on Monday November 19, 2012 3pm – 7pm and Tuesday November 20, 2012 9am – 2pm .

You will receive your Photo ID and Wristbands in your contestant package when you register. These will be required to get onto the CWA grounds and into the rodeo. Only those with Photo ID will be allowed in the lower Brandt Centre. If you forget or misplace your contestant package there will be a cost of $50 to replace the Photo ID ONLY. Companion Passes/Wristbands will not be replaced.

Contestants will be required to appear at all related CCA Finals events in accordance with the daily schedule found in this package.

Contestants MUST attend the Contestant Orientation Meeting in the lower Brandt Centre on Tuesday November 20, 2012 at 5pm.

Contestants and Personnel MUST conduct themselves in a Professional and Respectful manner at all times during the week while on the CWA grounds. Failure to comply will result in disciplinary actions.

Timed Event horses will NOT be allowed on CWA grounds any earlier than 12pm Tuesday November 20, 2012.

Training horses will NOT be allowed on the CWA grounds during Agribition week. Only Horses used for rodeo competition may be brought on the CWA grounds.

Roughstock and Timed Event cattle must be on site by 5pm prior to the rodeo performance with Finals stock numbers already on the stock. All stock must stay until the Finals performance is completed.

It is mandatory for a Veterinarian to be in attendance at all performances. Dr. Grant Royan will be in attendance during each performance. All other Veterinarian requests outside of the performances shall go through the Sherwood Animal Clinic (306) 525.3763.

Sports Medicine Personnel will be on site to assist any contestants who require their services. Contestants MUST supply their own TAPE and MEDICAL SUPPLIES.

Enter arena as you compete and leave immediately after your run unless the Timed Event maximum in the arena is 3-4 persons and/or 3-4 teams at one time. Finalists and Personnel shall refrain from loitering in the rodeo arena during the performance. The area behind the chutes must be kept clear and contestants are allowed ONLY ONE helper. Cameramen MUST be respected and given the right of way at all times.

Contestants will be fined for any unnecessary delay in the rodeo production such as not being ready to compete when called upon to do so. As a result, a 45 second rule will be enforced by directors, and it will be the responsibility of the contestants to check the fine list at the office. Fines MUST be paid prior to competing in the next performance. Reasonable and justifiable delays will not result in a fine.

Contestants may wear their own shirts, but the shirts must be respectable and in accordance with the Rule Book Section VIII Rule 1(h). Contestants MUST wear back numbers at all times.

Contestants MUST attend and arrive for group pictures at 4:15 PM on Wednesday November 21, 2012 in the lower Brandt Centre or a $300 fine will be levied and you will not be allowed to compete until paid.

Contestants MUST compete in the first performance of the CCA Finals Rodeo. A valid Doctor or Visible Injury Release will be accepted after the first performance. Section III, Rule 5 will apply to assign alternate(s) for that performance. If a second Doctor or Visible Injury Release is used, the finalist must forfeit their right to any further competition during the finals.

Once a Finals Contestant has entered the Finals on the designated entry day he/she has 7 days to do a straight turn out or vet release with no penalty. Vet releases and straight turn outs provided after October 30th, 2012 will result in a $500 fine.

In the case where an event is down to nine contestants or less, there will be a limit of 2 alternates per event allowed to compete at the CCA Finals. Alternates do not qualify for the CCA Finals Championship; points awarded to non-alternates will coincide with the place they finish.

Turned Out stock MUST go to the bottom of the re-ride list.

The High Point Champion will be the contestant with the most accumulated points at the end of the CCA Finals Rodeo providing they were in the Top 10

High Point Standings prior to the finals . In the event of a tie in the High Point category, you will have to break the tie in your qualifying event at the finals unless you have qualified in more than one event. In this case, you may choose your event to break the tie.

A four man judging system will be used for all riding events. Each judge will be allowed to use half points for the rider and the animal.

All go-round winners must be available for interviews after each performance and any at other time that they are requested to do so. Additional information and details will be given at the orientation meeting on Tuesday.

Stalls and alleyways in the barns MUST be kept clean. Contestants will be assessed a $50 fine if your stall area is not tidy. The rules implemented by the Barn Boss MUST be followed. Failure to comply will result in a $50 fine.

Do not block or tie horses in the alleyway or at the bottom of the ramp of the lower Brandt Centre.
