Sonar Luna is a smooth matt black ceiling tile that provides a dramatic ceiling expression. It is the ideal choice for cinemas, concert halls, theatres, night clubs and other areas where good acoustics in dark surroundings are required.

Sonar Luna is available with both E edges for a semi-concealed ceiling

solution, and with D edges for a concealed appearance. Sonar Luna with

D edges is ideally suited for use in cinemas as the grid is fully concealed

thereby ensuring there are no distracting screen reflections on the ceiling.

Sonar Luna can be combined with RockLux Astro System, an accessory which

allows you to create the illusion of a starry night. The stars are formed by

integrated fibre optics – either 8 or 15 optics per tile. The integrated fibre

optics are protected by a solid cover on the rear of the tile.

When designing rooms which have special acoustic requirements, such as

cinemas, we recommend that you contact Rockfon or a specialist acoustic

consultant.

Humidity resistance and dimensional stability (Flexural tensile strength)Rockfon ceiling tiles are dimensionally stable, even at

humidity levels of up to 100% RH. As the humidity inside a

building has no influence on Rockfon ceiling tiles, the ceiling

can be installed at all temperatures ranging from 0ºC to

40ºC, and no acclimatisation is necessary. Rockfon ceiling

tiles retain their superior properties even in infrequently

heated and unheated rooms. However, in accordance with

best practice building design, precautions should be taken to

avoid condensation risks.

Sonar Luna is predominantly classified as class 1/C/0N in

accordance with BS EN 13964. However, certain module

sizes are class 2/C/0N.

Light reflection3% diffuse light reflection in accordance with ISO 7724-2.

Fire performance

General:

Sonar Luna is made from 100% pure stone wool which can

withstand more than 1000°C for more than 120 minutes

without melting.

Reaction to fire:

Class A1 in accordance with BS EN 13501-1.

Fire protection:

Sonar Luna can be used in conjunction with RockLink grid to

create a 60 minutes fire protecting ceiling in accordance

with BS 476.

Demounting

Rockfon tiles with E and D edges can be demounted.

CleaningThe Sonar Luna surface can be vacuum cleaned with a soft

brush attachment up to 52 times/year.

HygieneStone wool is an inorganic material and so is not attacked

by rot, fungi or bacteria. This makes for a cleaner and

healthier indoor environment.
