Songwriting Stuart Goodeve and Dean Hallett Learn the secrets of writing a hit song - chord changes, melody, verse, chorus, bridge, intro and outro. Capture and develop your musical idea into a memorable song with all the trimmings. Be shown how to create memorable 'hooks', write professional sounding lyrics and make the most of your song with an effective arrangement.
Looping Richard Wood and Dean Hallett The looper pedal is an affordable modern technological gadget that turns a performer into an entire band by recording and then instantly repeating anything you play. Loop chords or rhythms, then add as many musical layers as you like - the only limit is your musical imagination. A modern essential for the solo performer as a catalyst for ideas, testbed for composing or songwriting and instant backing track for improvising.

Composing
Stuart Goodeve and Dean Hallett Learn to create your own phrases, riffs and melodies (and how to steal them from other composers.) Composing is an essential skill for to-day's musician; bands live or die on the quality of the music that they write ra-ther than their playing. It's also one of the most interesting and fulfilling crea-tive activities.
Workshops are suitable for ages 10 - 18. There will not be room to accompany your child in the workshops Please do bring friends and family to the evening concert!
Improvisation Dan Franks and Dean Hallett For many listeners the guitar solo is the highlight of their favourite song - just think of Bohemian Rhapsody, Stairway to Heaven or Sweet Child O' Mine. To play in a band you need to know how to improvise a solo over chord changes, especially when you play live. Learn how to create something musical on the spot using simple phrases, just like talking.
Evening Concert 5.30 - 7pm
Be amazed by the talent of local young guitar players... There are performers who have been booked, but there are more slots up for grabs. Play your creations to a live audience!
