The upkeep to the Community Entrances by Rey Reboyras and the Rock Creek staff (“The Rockers”) has been tremendous, keeping these areas looking as new as the day they were installed. As you may have also noticed, the re-paving project for the FP&L “Powerline Park” paths is nearing completion at a cost to the Association of approximately $115,000. The Rock Creek Board voted to keep a majority of the prior pathways in the new plan, eliminating some smaller sections due to budgetary constraints and user inactivity. This recreational upgrade should provide another 25+ years of use for the enjoyment of the community. BSO attended our last Board of Directors meeting and continues to report that crime is down in Rock Creek and Cooper City. However, leaving valuables in unlocked vehicles continues to be an on-going opportunity for some young adults in the area. Please remember to lock your vehicles when not in use and keep any valuables out of sight. In addition, please also consider leaving at least one vehicle in your driveway when possible to discourage anyone looking to take advantage of an unoccupied residence. As always, we encourage and invite all homeowners to come out to the next bi-monthly meeting in July to hear more about what is going on behind the scenes, in addition to seeing how your association dues are being spent. On behalf of the Rock Creek Board, have a safe and enjoyable summer! With a tropical storm already in the books for 2016, I wanted to remind everyone that the Atlantic Hurricane season officially began on June 1st and runs through November 30th. Though South Florida has not been impacted since Hurricane Wilma in 2005, we need not let our guard down, as it only takes one hurricane making landfall for this to be considered an active storm season from our perspective. In event of an approaching storm, each homeowner is responsible for securing and protecting his or her own property. The Rock Creek staff will do what is needed to secure the Association assets and coordinate with Cooper City on any post storm cleanup efforts. This is the time of the year to review your storm preparedness plans, obtaining the necessary supplies and preparing your property, well in advance of potential storm watches or warnings. Going hand and hand with summer is kids having fun swimming and playing outdoors (if you can get them away from their electronic devices). With that said, the Cooper City Pool & Tennis Center within Rock Creek offers summer camp and swimming lessons for children of all ages. According to the CDC, taking part in formal swimming lessons reduces the risk of drowning among children age 1 to 4 years. Please give your child the lifesaving skill of learning to swim. In addition to the offered swimming lessons, a new “Splash Pad” has been constructed at the Pool & Tennis Center which will provide our smaller children another great way to stay cool in the summer heat. TREASURER’S REPORT By Wayne Canner, CPA I am pleased to report that our independent Auditor issued an unqualified opinion regarding the Association’s 2015 audited financial statements. In the next few months the Budget Committee will begin working with the Community Manager on the 2017 budget. Please note that the quarterly fee has been at $130.00 for the past three years. The Committee will review both short term and long term maintenance and improvement needs and ideas for Rock Creek. As of the March 2016 financial statements, we have about $300,000.00 in Operating funds and about $442,500.00 in our Reserve accounts. Year to date we are about $2000.00 over budget as part of a million dollar annual budget. All the best for a safe and quiet summer, free of any major storms and expenditures.

I hope that everyone is gearing up for another hot and hopefully relaxing south Florida summer. PROPERTY MANAGER’S REPORT By Carl Rosendorf , LCAM Community Manager

We would like to remind all residents in Rock Creek that there are posted speed limits in the community. The speed limits are designed to help make the neighborhood safer for all drivers, as well as those residents, visitors, or Rock Creek employees, walking, exercising, or working in the community. The Board of Directors wants to raise one’s level of awareness of how important the topic of safety is. Recently a resident or visitor to the community came very close to hitting, with their vehicle, one of the Rock Creek employees who was edging the lawn along Stonebridge Parkway. In response to this incident we have reached out to Cooper City BSO who has been nice enough to step up speed limit enforcement and place in the community in front of the office an electronic sign that says, “drive as if your kids live here”.

We ask that you focus more on this safety matter as you or members of your family or your visitors drive in the community. In doing so, you will lessen the chance of being involved in an automobile accident or hitting a pedestrian or animal in the community. The staff of Rock Creek will be utilizing additional Traffic cones when working adjacent to the roadways or in the center median roads of Rock Creek, so please stay focused and obey the speed limits for everyone’s benefit, when driving in the community.

The staff of Rock Creek wishes you a safe and peaceful summer season and welcomes your visits or phone calls to the office.
