Variations in sha pe, omission and addition of parts will occur between mode ls in this gr oup . NO TE : Remo ve p ump lever (11 ) by driving lever pin (101 inward just far enough to release the p ump lever and leave enough clearance between end of pin and bowl cover wall to use end of screw driver blade to pry pin into lever during reassembly. Two of the bowl cover screws (1 8) are located ne xt to the ven tu ri inside air horn . If the choke or air valve require removal, fde st aked ends of va lve screws before turning. CAUTION: Anero id (28) or a filler spool used on so me mode ls is fa ctory adjust ed. Do no t at tempt to a dj ust. Do not remove or attem p t to adjust the IA. P.T J air part thr ottl e un it (3 6) an some m od e ls. If the auxiliary p owerp isto n (34) and metering rod 120 ) are used, rem o ve the rod from pist on , before re moving the air horn ga sket (2 1). The power pis t ons may be removed by car efully pr y ing an r et ain er or by pressing asse mb lies to bo tt om of cylinders and releasing. allow ing them to pop up. When po.....er pist on spri ngs 135 & 33 ) are removed keep sepa rated as t hey are not interchangeable. Exercise caution in removal of choke rod (41) to aid in proper me thod of reinstallation. If the idle limiter caps 175) must be removed. to qualify the id le. po sitio n the limiter caps to the stop. Remove cap from idle air mixture screws (76 ) carefully to avoid damaging screws. Before removal of idle adjust ment screws be sure and count n umber of turns to seat the screws, as th e same n umber of turnsf rom the sea r sh ould be mai ntained dur ing the reassem bly of carbu reto r for proper i nitial i dle mix t ure adj ustment. CLEANI NG Clean p arts thoroughly in an approved car b u ret or cl ean er. Special attention should be given to carbon deposits in thro tt le bores and pa ssage s. Ri nse pa rt s in a su itab le so lvent . Blow out all passages with compressed air. Do not immerse rubber, plastic, choke pu ll off units. and electr ic solenoids in any type carburetor clea ner. REASSEMBL Y To reassemble. reverse the nume rica l seque nce and use the ref er e nce nu mbers shown in the e xp loded view . Note th e following spec ial instr uct ions. 1. Idle mix tur e screws 176 1 sho uld be seated lightly and then ba cked out the numbe r of turn s established du ring di sassembl y for initial idle mixture adjustment. 2. Install cho ke housing shaft sea l (64 ) in main b od y with lip facing out. Install ch oke ho usi ng seal (661 w;th lip facing in. 3. To install lower cho ke rod lever (63). connect choke rod (4 1) to end of lever. while h oldi ng rod, lowe r the lever int o bow l well, engage th e end o f choke housing sha ft (62) into hole of lever. 4. Remove accelerator pu mp plunger reta iner (24 ) and spri ng (25 ) from old plunger assembly and install on new plunger assemb ly su ppl ied in kit. Lubricate plunger cup with a light engine oil bef ore installing . 5. Install need le pu ll clip over inside of float tang. INot thr ough hole). 6. Do not install gaske t (55) on units equipp ed with electric c ho ke . 7. When instal ling power p ist on s (30 & 34) mak e sure they are engaged in cylinder. S. Do not fo rce the bowl coyer assemb ly (19 ) onto the bowl but rather lo we r in p la ce . Watch bl eed tubes , acce lerat ing well tubes. pun-over enrichment t ubes lif used) and p ump p lunger assembly are p os it io ned pro perl y t hr ough the holes in the bowl co ver gasket (211.
