TX8000 Calibrator or equivalent UKAS traceable loop impedance tester 2 Preparation Accurately measure and record the local loop impedance at the mains socketto be used. It must be lessthan 0.3.0.. Connect the calibration fixture to the same socket, select the calibration resistance required and accurately measure the total loop impedance. Subtract the localloop from the measured total. Record this value as (Rx) Carefullyremove the UUTdisplaylabel to expose the micro switchand the DIP switch. 3 200 Range Calibration 3.1 Nominal10.0. Setting . . . . Select the KMP4120DL 20,0 range. Connect the UUT to the calibration fixture with a known (Rx) loop impedance of 10 :t:0.14,0. Switch on the supply while depressing the micro switch. "rob- will be displayed followed by the supply voltage level flashing on the display with 2 digits to the right of the decimal point (eg 2.30). Refer to Fig. 1 and set the DIP switch for the difference between the nominal value (10.00Q) and the measured value of impedance (Ax). Press the Test button. The adjusted value will be stored. 1 Equipment Required

Calibration fixture/s which allows switching between selectable values of resistance andnear zero resistance of the earth conductor without removing power to P-N. The selectablevalues are 10.0., 100.0. and 1 k.o. :t; 1.4 %. (These values do not include the local loopimpedance).TX8000 Calibrator or equivalentUKAS traceable loop impedance tester

2 Preparation

Accurately measure and record the local loop impedance at the mains socket to be used. Itmust be less than 0.3.0..Connect the calibration fixture to the same socket, select the calibration resistance requiredand accurately measure the total loop impedance.Subtract the local loop from the measured total. Record this value as (Rx)Carefully remove the UUT display label to expose the micro switch and the DIP switch.

3 200 Range Calibration

3.1 Nominal 10.0. Setting

Select the KMP4120DL 20,0 range.Connect the UUT to the calibration fixture with a known (Rx) loop impedance of 10 :t: 0.14,0.Switch on the supply while depressing the micro switch. "rob- will be displayed followed bythe supply voltage level flashing on the display with 2 digits to the right of the decimal point(eg 2.30).Refer to Fig. 1 and set the DIP switch for the difference between the nominal value (10.00Q)and the measured value of impedance (Ax).Press the Test button. The adjusted value will be stored.

The unit assumes that the applied value is 10.04,0

3.2 Nominal 00. Setting

Do not disconnect the supply to P-N and remain on the 20.0. range.Connect the unit to a known loop impedance of less than 0.30.0.Press the micro switch again and the supply voltage will flash with 1 digit to the right of thedecimal point .(eg 23.0).Press the Test button. The adjusted value will be stored.Disconnect the UUT from the test fixture.

3.3 0.0. Offset

With no power applied, refer to Fig. 2 and set the DIP switch to the value of the measuredlocal loop impedance.

Follow the procedure in 3 above substituting 200.0. range for 20.0. range and100:t: 1.4.0. for 10:t: 0.14,0,.

5 2000Q Range Calibration

Follow the procedure in 3 above substituting 2000.0. range for 20.0. range and1000 % 14.0. for 10 % 0.14.0..

6 Completion

.

.Validate the calibration using a TX8000 or similar device.Carefully replace the display label. If the label is damaged replace it with a new one.
