ROBERTSON STATE SCHOOL
Principal’s Update TERM 2 UNDERWAY Teachers have quickly focussed students on reading, writing and numeracy in their first lessons for the term. Our goal to improve reading and writing by 1 - 2% continues the improvement agenda. With the overall presentation of the students pride in uniform and pride in bookwork are being
reinvirogated. In extra curricula activities, on Tuesday the Cantabile Choir presented an amazing tribute at Brooklands Village 100 year ANZAC commemoration (see details P 2). Year 5 students were fortunate the sun began to shine on Wednesday for the St Helena excursion. Overall it was a very productive start to Term 2.
BUSINESS BREAKFAST WEDNESDAY 29 APRIL The P&C Business Networking Breakfast for local businesses and sponsors is shaping up to be a very worthwhile event.
It is supported by our local politicians and Brisbane City Council’s Strategic Urban Planning Team. A talk will be given on planning in the local area. Time: Wednesday 29 April beginning at 7:00 am Location: Library We would like as many of our parents who have businesses to join the networking breakfast. Please contact Mel Kennedy, (Marketing and Communications
Manager) on [email protected]
if you can join us.
ROAD SAFETY As the term begins, I need to remind all parents about the pick up and drop off zones time limits and the need to cross the road at the designated crossing. At the front of the school there are signs which state cars can only be in the drop off zone for 3 minutes. If your child has not arrived you need to move on to allow for the flow of traffic. When crossing the road, it is particularly important that parents use the designated crossing. In some instances students are being called across Musgrave Rd by
parents waiting in cars on the opposite side. This is highly dangerous and we do not want our children to be involved in an accident. A few extra minutes to cross at the designated crossing could save your child’s life.
SUNNYBANK DISTRICT ANZAC SERVICE AND MARCH Parents and students are invited to join the Robertson school group in the March Saturday 25 April at 7:30 am at corner of Turton St and Station Rd. Full dress uniform and hat are required.

COMMUNITY NEWS
Are you a parent of a child with type 1 diabetes?
Every day, thousands of Australian children suffer the effects of type 1 diabetes and families struggle with illness management and children’s behavioural and emotional adjustment.
Positive Parenting for Healthy Living is an adaptation of the successful Triple P- Positive Parenting Program offering practical ideas and support for parents of children with type 1 diabetes. This innovative group program is designed to help parents manage their child’s illness, assist children in coping with their illness and emotions, and prevent and manage difficult child behaviour.
Over the next few months and for a limited time only, parents of 2-10 year old children with type 1 diabetes are able to access Positive Parenting for Healthy Living Triple P as part of a University of Queensland research project. Parents will be able to attend the program free of charge, and will be asked to complete 2 sets of assessment measures (questionnaire and family observation) over a 6 month period, as part of the study. Contact Amy Mitchell on (07) 3346 1202 or email [email protected], or visit https://exp.psy.uq.edu.au/t1diabetes for more information.
