Robert E. Norton Professional Background Robert E. Norton was born in Athens, Ala., and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Alabama, graduating magna cum laude in 2002. He was a University of Alabama Presidential Scholar and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, the highest academic honor awarded to seniors. He also served as a White House intern with the National Economic Council during the summer of 2001. Mr. Norton received his Juris Doctor from The University of Alabama School of Law in 2007 and is licensed to practice law in Alabama. While in law school, Mr. Norton was recognized as the most outstanding student in the study of Negotiations and one of the top legal researchers and writers in his class. Prior to joining Burke Harvey in 2010, Mr. Norton practiced law for three years in Tuscaloosa. He is a member of the Alabama State Bar Association and the Birmingham Bar Association. He is married to Misti and they have two young children. The family attends St. Mary’s on the Highlands Episcopal Church. He is a supporter of the arts, having served as past president of the Alabama Symphony Junior Board.
