2014 ANNUAL REPORTThe Robby Hague Memorial

    Scholarship Fund

Attached is The Robby Hague Memorial Scholarship Funds 2014Annual Report. The report discusses the activities of thescholarship fund, as well as funds raised and expenses incurred

    from January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2014.

On July 12th, a donor recognition event was held at the Walter

Brannon Community Center at the Sewickley YMCA to thank all

of our generous sponsors, donors, friends, and family who havesupported us during these difficult past five years. More than 125

people attended on a hot July night and had a great time enjoying food, drinks, entertainment, door prizesand good company. We thank all of you who attended. Your love and generosity mean so much to us.

The 6thAnnual Robby Hague Memorial Bowling event was held on November 29, and was a success, as

always. We had a record number of more than 135 friends and family members who participated thisyear. Once again wed like to send out special thanks to John and Susie Niaros, owners of Fair Oaks

Bowling Lanes, for the extra effort they put into making the day so successful. The Chinese Auction wasa huge success due to the contributions from friends and family. A heart-felt thanks goes out to each and

every one who donated (see page 5 for a list of auction donors); your thoughtfulness and generosity is

very much appreciated. This annual event helps to keep Robbys memory alive for all of us.

In 2014, The Robby Hague Memorial Scholarship Fund awarded a $2,500 scholarship to Clara Murray.

Clara was a member of the National Honor Society and is attending the University of North Carolina atAsheville. We are extremely proud to have Clara join the other scholarship winners who have all beenexemplary representatives.

Here are some of the highlights of J.J. Veshios (Health & Physical Education teacher at Quaker Valley

and best friend to Robby) awarding of the scholarship to Clara.

Robby was dedicated to his schoolwork, but also took the time to learn about anything and everything he could.

Whether it was teaching himself Greek, knowing every player on the German national soccer team, or learning

about the great Japanese samurai cinema directors, Robby wanted to know it all.

The student receiving this award exudes those same traits and more. Robby never stopped learning and appreciated

knowledge and the continuation of education outside of the classroom.

I am happy to announce that this years winner is Miss Clara Murray. Without question, she was the favorite

among the wonderful applicants. Robbys mother, Susie, took down notes for each essay and next to Claras she

wrote, Gets Robby. Much like Robby, Clara has a love of language, writing, and film. It also didnt hurt her

chances when she mentioned her favorite director is Quentin Tarantino, much like Robby.

Clara will continue her film cl, French for film with a key style at the University of North Carolina

Asheville this fall. The key for Clara Murray, though, is that she will never stop being her big goofy weirdo self and

will continue to learn throughout life; and, thats why we love her and are so happy to have her associated with

    Robby from now on.

    Congratulations to Clara.

The Robby Hague Memorial Scholarship was established in 2009 and that year we awarded twoscholarships. Both of our recipients have graduated from college and we wanted to share an update with

    everyone.

Eleanor Johnston graduated with honors and Phi Beta Kappa from theUniversity of Pittsburgh. She earned a Bachelors of Science degree in

Molecular Biology in Biochemistry. Currently, she is working as a researchtechnician for Dr. Smithgall, the Chairman of the Microbiology and Molecular

Genetics Department of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Sheis researching one of the molecular pathways used by the HIV-1 virus to

remove immune receptors from cells in the body allowing the virus to developinto AIDS. Eleanor plans to work there for a year and publish her current

research before continuing on to graduate school to earn a PhD in Cell andMolecular Biology. Eleanor had the following to say: Thank you for including me in the workings of

the Foundation. It was an honor to be one of the first scholarship awardees.

John Yankello, the other recipient, did his student teaching at a localelementary school and graduated in May with a Bachelors Degree from HighPoint University. John will then be earning a Masters Degree in Elementary

Education at the same school. He is still running for the Division I cross

country/track teams at High Point University in North Carolina, logging about90 miles a week.

We are proud of both of them. Next year well give you an update on Nate

    Pawlik, our 2010 recipient.

In addition to the scholarship, the committee voted once again to donate to two of Robbys great passions

reading and sports. Donations were made in Robbys memory to the Sewickley Public Library andHeritage Valley Sewickleys 5K Run.

We thank you all for your generous financial and moral support and for making our desire to continue

awarding an annual scholarship in Robbys name possible. We hope your 2015 will be outstanding.

    Sincerely,

The Robby Hague Memorial Scholarship Fund Committee
