Hoorays! Thank you to volunteers scouts Hunter Johnson,Troop 340, Andrew Sinclair Troop 324 and James West, Troop 509, who performed in the Opening Flag cer- emony, led the Pledge of Allegiance, Scout Oath and Law, along with the invocation for the HEB Community Friends of Scouting Breakfast. The scouts arrived bright and early at the Texas Star Golf Club and the large audience was very impressed with them! The photo shows their fathers who accompanied them to the event. Submitted by Denice Taylor. HAPPENINGS Camping Committee Can you believe that the 2013 Roadrunner Spring Camporee is less than 24 hours away? I can’t! The OA has put together a host of events Saturday afternoon that includes a special presentation on the histo- ry of the Woapallane Chapter so that we all can have a better understand- ing of our OA roots, and why the Chapter needs YOU to keep it thriving!! Recently, many Webelo II Scouts crossed over and joined a Troop as they continue their journey along the BSA Scouting trail. We wish them all a journey that is filled with adventure, learning, sharing, caring, leadership, and great mem- ories wrapped in an envelope of fun as they mature in becoming a lead- er of tomorrow. Use the outdoor program to give them a firm founda- tion of skills so they have the tools to help them become a solid and dependable citizen by living the values and virtues of the Scouting program and using the Scout Oath and Law as their compass as they navigate through life. Summer is just around the corner! And with summer comes Summer Camp and the end of another Scouting year. Stay tuned to the upcoming newsletters for dates of events that you can have and in- clude for your annual planning ses- sions. It’s getting warm and hot, so always remember to keep hydrated and use sun screen. And not just when you’re camping either!!
