OSSA has vast recent experience both in high speed railway tunnels with over 60 km of high speed rail tunneling projects

in the last five years, leading the Spanish market in this specialty, and also in underground power plants, having built

over fifteen underground plants with some of the largest underground caverns in the world. As a recent highlight, we are

participating in the design and construction of the Hong Kong to Shangai High Speed Rail Line.

Internationally OSSA has executed works in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Brasil and

The work consists of the excavation and support, using top heading and benching, of three road tunnels with a trunk section of 21.1 m x 11.4 m. The total length of the excavation of the 3 tunnels is 595 m (240 m, 235 m, 120 m), with a longitudinal slope of between 0.3 to 3.0% and a maximum and minimum overburden of 40 m and 12 m respectively. The excavation will be done using conventional means. The supports used will be based on: Shotcrete, corrugated grout rock bolts, metallic trusses with IR type profile 203 x 59.6k kg/m. The final reinforced concrete lining will be installed to thickness of 40 cm. During this stage 6 false tunnels will be also be built, one for each tunnel mouth, resulting in a total of 245 m of false tunnels.

The work consists of the building of a 2.51 Km section of motorway, formed by two separate 3 lane carriageways.

The overall works include the construction of 2 parallel tunnels, one per carriageway, a 1-lane exit branch, a cave junction between the branch and the tunnels, a reinforced concrete wall, a 126 m viaduct and the road surfaces of the section.

Each tunnel has a cross section of 125 m2 and a length of 2,261 m. The tunnels were excavated with explosives and in two phases, and advance phase and a shattering phase.

The exit branch has a length of 365 m and a cross section of 59 m2,the cave junction has a length of 118 m and a cross section of 383 m2.

The works consisted of building a new 1,000 m section of the CA-251 road, connecting the CA-250 with the A-8 motorway and the CA-522.

The main work implemented was a 293 m tunnel, of which 210 were excavated and the remaining distance was made up by the false entry and exit tunnels. The works consisted of building a 2 km road, with an open air section of 1,150 m and a tunnel of 850 m. The road is single carriageway with two lanes (one in each direction).The main work implemented was an 850 m tunnel, of which 805 m were excavated and 45 m were false tunnel. An evacuation gallery was also excavated with a length of 469 m and a cross section of 23.5 m2. Excavation was carried out following the new Austrian method, with the use of explosives and in areas where the ground is of poorer quality, mechanical means.The support elements used in the tunnels are shotcrete, 25 mm diameter bolts of up to 8 m in length, 3 mm thick Bernold plate, Dramix type fibre in the shotcrete, and TH-21/TH-29/HEB180 type trusses.The tunnels were waterproofed with PVC and geotextile sheet and are lined with HM-30 type concrete.Two 21 m bridges were also built and a third 44 m bridge in prestressed concrete, as well as the road surface of the whole section.

The galleries are situated at a distance of 240 m from each other.

The distance between the tunnel axes is 32 m, and a 17 m2 gallery will be built between the two tunnels, the front of which will be 150 m ahead of the tunnels in order to survey the ground to be excavated; the coverage does not allow for prior reconnaissance. Two two-lane urban road tunnels, with a false tunnel between the two. Sa Mola and Llampaies tunnels with lengths of 1,100 and 115 m respectively. The Sa Mola tunnel has two emergency exits, one in a 200 m gallery and the other in a false tunnel.

In karst areas there are irregularities or chimneys requiring additional support in specific areas of the tunnel.

Because of the filtrations caused by the four faults crossing the tunnel, the latter is waterproofed with a sheet of reticulated polyethylene.

Pioneer work in compliance with Royal Decree 635/2006 on safety requirements in road tunnels.

The main support units used in the tunnels are: 8,620 m³ of thick steel fibre reinforced shotcrete , 39,332 m. Super Swellex bolts, 1,854 m² wire mesh 150 x 150 x 6 mm and 1,769 m² Bernold plate e = 2 mm. 14,744 steel ribs TH - 29/HEB - 140. HM - 45 concrete lining unforced 40 cm thickness.

The tunnels have a length of 340 and 280 m and a cross section of 80 m2. The main supporting units used in the tunnel are: 692 m³ shotcrete, 180 m³ shotcrete with fibres, 113 pc. TH – 21 trusses, 11,042 m Ø = 25 mm bolts and 1,984 m³ H – 250 concrete.

The work consisted of widening the road to form a dual-carriageway. The main work was the implementation of the access and the building of the El Negron Tunnel.

Excavation in semi-competent materials with low compressive strength, making the tunnel extremely difficult to excavate. 1920 ml. Injected cement and bentonite to achieve stabilization of the southern exit portal.

L = 4 m bolts, HEB160 trusses and shotcrete over welded wire mesh. 30 cm thick mass concrete lining.

In addition, several engineering works were carried out as well as road surfacing.

The works comprise all the work carried out on the whole section pertaining to the variant, with a total length of 2,840 m.

The main work done was the construction of the Belate Tunnel, with a length of 1,160 m.

The supporting elements used in the tunnel are: shotcrete with and without fibre, bolts, TH - 21/HEB - 160 trusses and 2 mm. Bernold plate in specific sections.

The tunnel has 182.5 m of linear concreting in the exit portals and the rest with waterproof coating.

In addition to the tunnel, a bridge and viaducts were built and the road surface of the section was laid.

The project consisted in laying 4.2 km of road. Part of this new road will be laid over the old road and the rest on a new path.

One of the main jobs was the construction of the Salt Tunnel, with a length of 297 m and a cross section of 52 m2. The tunnel was excavated with explosives and mechanical means. Excavation of the main section. Excavation, by trenches, of the gables. Immediate concreting of the gables.

A 43 m false tunnel was also implemented, and several drainage works, both transverse and longitudinal. Also worth mentioning is the building of a skew bridge with 17 m prefabricated girders and a 45 m continuous slab bridge, as well as the additional works of reinstatement of services and laying of the road surface.
