International Association for Energy Economics The International Association for Energy Economics is an independent, non-profit, organization for business, government, academic and other professionals applying economics in concert with other disciplines to enhance understanding of all aspects of energy production and use. The Association is global in scope and membership, and covers the full range of energy industry participants—including businesses, academia, scientific and other research institutions, consultants, governments, and inter-governmental institutions.

The IAEE was founded in 1977 to provide an interdisciplinary forum for the exchange of ideas about the energy industry. Today, the IAEE focuses on three main activities:

Any person with an active interest in energy economics is eligible for membership in the Association. Join as a Direct member, through a local Affiliate, or as an Institutional member. Student memberships are also available. Currently, approximately 70% are members through their Affiliate while 30% are Direct or Institutional members. Memberships of all types carry the right to vote and to hold office as a member of the IAEE Council, if elected by the membership at large.

Direct MembershipDirect memberships are $100 per year renewable twelve months from the date of receipt of a new member’s dues. They include subscriptions to The Energy Journal, Economics of Energy & Environmental Policy and the IAEE Energy Forum.

Membership through an AffiliateJoining the IAEE through a national affiliate can often save money compared with joining both the International and National Associations separately. Individuals indicate to the Affiliate that they wish to join the IAEE. The local Affiliate will collect and forward the IAEE dues to IAEE. Affiliates usually add an amount to cover local dues to the IAEE membership dues. Membership through an Affiliate is on a calendar year basis.

Membership in the United States Association for Energy Economics (USAEE)Membership in the USAEE is automatically combined with membership in the IAEE. The combined dues are $120.

Student MembershipStudent memberships are available to any full-time student (defined as someone who is enrolled in a degree-granting program—either undergraduate or graduate—at an institution of higher learning and registered full-time according to the definition of their respective academic institution, and who is not employed full-time). Students must submit written verification from a professor or other verifiable authority at their institution attesting to their full-time student status when making an application. Student memberships are $50 per year. Students may apply as Direct members or through a local Affiliate.

Institutional MembershipInstitutional membership allows a company or organization to gain recognition for supporting IAEE while benefitting from a variety of products/services.

Corporate Institutional Membership and Academic Institutional Membership have the same dues rate of $2,500 per year but different benefits packages.

Some of the benefits that come with IAEE Institutional Membership include:

• Complimentary registration at the IAEE International or North American Conference

• 50% off exhibit table space at the IAEE International and North American Conference

• Non-IAEE members affiliated with the Institutional Member may attend IAEE Conferences at member rates

Member-Get-A-Member ProgramThe IAEE member-get-a-member program awards three months of free membership to non-Affiliate members who refer new members to the Association.

Our conferences provide a cost-effective and pleasurable opportunity to hear not only the latest research in energy economics but also the critical energy industry issues exercising governments and firms. IAEE holds an annual international conference. It also sponsors periodic regional meetings in Europe, North America, Asia and Latin America that discuss regional issues more directly relevant to some members. IAEE Conferences attract delegates from the most influential government, corporate and academic energy decision-making institutions. Keynote and luncheon speakers include leading industry specialists and well-known authorities. Members may submit their current research and present their findings on all facets of the energy industry in concurrent sessions where they obtain feedback from leading professionals in the field. Our conferences also provide many opportunities to network with other professional energy economists. IAEE conferences also feature special contests and prizes for students, while students also are eligible for reduced registration rates.

The Energy JournalThe Energy Journal is a refereed, quarterly, print and electronic format publication covering topics in conventional and alternative/renewable energies, electricity supply and demand, energy prices, trade in energy, energy conservation, energy policy and regulation, and many other related areas. The Energy Journal carries a broad spectrum of empirical, theoretical and policy related papers within the field of energy economics. It also includes topical short papers, informative talks, research reports, a book review section, and advertisements of interest to energy economists. Special issues of The Energy Journal are often produced on a wide variety of energy topics.

Economics of Energy & Environmental PolicyEconomics of Energy & Environmental Policy is a refereed, biannual print and (soon to be only) electronic format publication covering policies affecting the energy industry including those focused on the industry’s environmental impacts. Issues covered have included climate policy, emissions trading, sustainable energy systems, energy security, renewable energy policy, and energy regulatory policy. Economics of Energy & Environmental Policy articles are scholarly and research-based, yet easily read and accessible. Its content ranges from a blend of policy papers and notes, organized symposia on specific policy issues, feature articles, book reviews, and commentaries on current energy and environmental policy issues.

The Energy ForumThe Energy Forum (newsletter) is published quarterly in print and electronic format and covers timely thematic energy matters on conventional and renewable energy, specific country energy policies, and industry developments. Any member wishing to bring a matter to the attention of our members is invited to submit a brief non-technical article for timely publication. The Energy Forum also publishes announcements of upcoming association events, such as conferences and workshops, provides IAEE Affiliate news, and special reports and information on international energy matters.

DUES ARE PAID FOR ONE YEAR – The direct membership period runs twelve months from the end of the month in which the application is received. NOTE: Dues are non-refundable and memberships are non-transferable. Contributions or gifts to IAEE are not tax deductible as charitable contributions. However, dues payments may be tax deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses.

International Association for Energy Economics The International Association for Energy Economics is an independent, non-profit, organization for business, government, academic and other professionals applying economics in concert with other disciplines to enhance understanding of all aspects of energy production and use. The Association is global in scope and membership, and covers the full range of energy industry participants—including businesses, academia, scientific and other research institutions, consultants, governments, and inter-governmental institutions.

The IAEE was founded in 1977 to provide an interdisciplinary forum for the exchange of ideas about the energy industry. Today, the IAEE focuses on three main activities:

Any person with an active interest in energy economics is eligible for membership in the Association. Join as a Direct member, through a local Affiliate, or as an Institutional member. Student memberships are also available. Currently, approximately 70% are members through their Affiliate while 30% are Direct or Institutional members. Memberships of all types carry the right to vote and to hold office as a member of the IAEE Council, if elected by the membership at large.

Direct MembershipDirect memberships are $100 per year renewable twelve months from the date of receipt of a new member’s dues. They include subscriptions to The Energy Journal, Economics of Energy & Environmental Policy and the IAEE Energy Forum.

Membership through an AffiliateJoining the IAEE through a national affiliate can often save money compared with joining both the International and National Associations separately. Individuals indicate to the Affiliate that they wish to join the IAEE. The local Affiliate will collect and forward the IAEE dues to IAEE. Affiliates usually add an amount to cover local dues to the IAEE membership dues. Membership through an Affiliate is on a calendar year basis.

Membership in the United States Association for Energy Economics (USAEE)Membership in the USAEE is automatically combined with membership in the IAEE. The combined dues are $120.

Student MembershipStudent memberships are available to any full-time student (defined as someone who is enrolled in a degree-granting program—either undergraduate or graduate—at an institution of higher learning and registered full-time according to the definition of their respective academic institution, and who is not employed full-time). Students must submit written verification from a professor or other verifiable authority at their institution attesting to their full-time student status when making an application. Student memberships are $50 per year. Students may apply as Direct members or through a local Affiliate.

Institutional MembershipInstitutional membership allows a company or organization to gain recognition for supporting IAEE while benefitting from a variety of products/services.

Corporate Institutional Membership and Academic Institutional Membership have the same dues rate of $2,500 per year but different benefits packages.

Some of the benefits that come with IAEE Institutional Membership include:

• All IAEE publications for designated individuals

• Complimentary registration at the IAEE International or North American Conference

• 50% off exhibit table space at the IAEE International and North American Conference

• Non-IAEE members affiliated with the Institutional Member may attend IAEE Conferences at member rates

Our conferences provide a cost-effective and pleasurable opportunity to hear not only the latest research in energy economics but also the critical energy industry issues exercising governments and firms. IAEE holds an annual international conference. It also sponsors periodic regional meetings in Europe, North America, Asia and Latin America that discuss regional issues more directly relevant to some members. IAEE Conferences attract delegates from the most influential government, corporate and academic energy decision-making institutions. Keynote and luncheon speakers include leading industry specialists and well-known authorities. Members may submit their current research and present their findings on all facets of the energy industry in concurrent sessions where they obtain feedback from leading professionals in the field. Our conferences also provide many opportunities to network with other professional energy economists. IAEE conferences also feature special contests and prizes for students, while students also are eligible for reduced registration rates.

International Conference This meeting is hosted by an active Affiliate of the Association. Recent meetings have been held in Daegu, Perth, Stockholm, Rio de Janeiro, San Francisco, Istanbul, Wellington and Potsdam.

The Energy JournalThe Energy Journal is a refereed, quarterly, print and electronic format publication covering topics in conventional and alternative/renewable energies, electricity supply and demand, energy prices, trade in energy, energy conservation, energy policy and regulation, and many other related areas. The Energy Journal carries a broad spectrum of empirical, theoretical and policy related papers within the field of energy economics. It also includes topical short papers, informative talks, research reports, a book review section, and advertisements of interest to energy economists. Special issues of The Energy Journal are often produced on a wide variety of energy topics.

Economics of Energy & Environmental PolicyEconomics of Energy & Environmental Policy is a refereed, biannual print and (soon to be only) electronic format publication covering policies affecting the energy industry including those focused on the industry’s environmental impacts. Issues covered have included climate policy, emissions trading, sustainable energy systems, energy security, renewable energy policy, and energy regulatory policy. Economics of Energy & Environmental Policy articles are scholarly and research-based, yet easily read and accessible. Its content ranges from a blend of policy papers and notes, organized symposia on specific policy issues, feature articles, book reviews, and commentaries on current energy and environmental policy issues.

The Energy ForumThe Energy Forum (newsletter) is published quarterly in print and electronic format and covers timely thematic energy matters on conventional and renewable energy, specific country energy policies, and industry developments. Any member wishing to bring a matter to the attention of our members is invited to submit a brief non-technical article for timely publication. The Energy Forum also publishes announcements of upcoming association events, such as conferences and workshops, provides IAEE Affiliate news, and special reports and information on international energy matters.

Online Membership DirectoryAs a member of IAEE, we publish contact information (mailing address, email, phone, energy specializations, etc.) in the Online Membership Directory as well as in the membership directory pdf file. The ability to completely search this directory of IAEE members worldwide is available in the members only section of our website and is an invaluable resource for research and networking.
