Guidance counselors will be visiting math classrooms the week beginning February 27th. Students and parents should review teacher recommendations on X2 Aspen . Select the MY INFO top tab and then the REQUESTS side tab to view course recommendations for the 2017-2018 school year. If you have any questions on any of the teacher recommendations, please contact the teacher directly. NEW HEAD FOOTBALL COACH NAMED: I am very excited to announce Mr. Nick Liquori will be the next Varsity Football Coach for Rockland High School. Mr. Liquori has been a teacher at Rockland High School since 2006. In addition, he has coached in the athletic department for the football, basketball, and baseball teams. His experience as a football coach has been as a Special Teams Coordinator and a Linebacker/Receiver Coach for the high school since 2006. Mr. Liquori is also a graduate of Rockland High School. Seniors should bring in $25 cash or a check payable to “Town of Rockland” on March 1st to purchase their cap and gown at lunch. SITE COUNCIL MINUTES:

Site Council Meeting 4 Date: January 19, 2017 7:15AM

Location: Superintendent's Conference Room Site Council Attendance: Mr. Jad Bendarkawi, Ms. Sam Hoyo, Ms. Sydney McKenna, Ms. Hannah Millen, Mr. Richard Phelps, Ms. Julie Shields Minutes: The meeting began with the approval of the minutes from December 8, 2016. Approval was unanimous. Mr. Harrison updated the Site Council on the exciting events that have happened since the group last met. He spoke about the success of the winter sports teams, outstanding production of Grease and the Holiday Concert. He mentioned the first Alumni Panel for Seniors before December Vacation. Students had the opportunity to hear Chris Herren speak Friday, January 13th. Feedback from the event was positive. In addition, Mr. Harrison formed the Principal Student Leadership Council which met Friday, January 13th after school. This organization consists of captains of sport teams and presidents of clubs and organizations. Mr. Harrison reviewed changes to the Program of Studies for the 2017-2018 school year. The Site Council was favorable to the changes recommended. He mentioned programming he would like to have for juniors and seniors before the Prom. The Site Council agreed with the programming ideas. Mr. Harrison asked the Site Council to begin thinking about Handbook changes for the 2017-2018 school year in anticipation of their next meeting. Mr. Harrison mentioned that he would like to have seniors who graduate this year have a sentence read at graduation about their plans for after graduation. The group was receptive to this idea. MOCK TRIAL COMPLETES WINNING SEASON: The Mock Trial team defeated Braintree High last week. Outstanding performers included Emily Delaney, Harrison Hunter, Doug Reardon, Leo Field, Jasmin Morse, Elizabeth Kelley, Jad Bendarkawi, Cory MacDonald, and John Ellard. The team finished the season with its first winning record, 2-1. Congratulations to all. STUDENTS ATTEND BERKLEE MUSICAL JAZZ FESTIVAL: Rockland High School students enjoyed the Berklee High School Jazz Festival with trumpet great Lin Biviano.

WINTER SPORTS RECAP: Girls Basketball The girl’s varsity basketball team lost to Arlington Catholic on Wednesday, February 15th. However, it has not stopped the girl’s team from celebrating their South Shore League Championship! Congratulations to the Lady Dogs!

Boys Basketball The boy’s varsity basketball team defeated Randolph High School on Saturday, 2/12 65-56.

Jake Crawford scored 15 points, Andrew Starkey scored 13 points, and Jakigh Marcelin scored 18 points to help the team to a 62-57 win.

The Junior Varsity Boy’s Basketball Team finished the season 12-6 with victories over Randolph 67-59 and Norwell 39-32. The Freshmen Boy’s Basketball finished the season 15-2 (undefeated in South Shore League) by defeating Randolph 55-27 and Norwell 39-32. Varsity Ice Hockey The senior hockey players enjoyed a special senior night on Saturday, 2/12. The team honored their seniors before defeating Silver Lake Regional High School 3-0 to improve to 16-1-2 on the season. The dogs earned their 17th win of the season by defeating Dartmouth 6-5 on Wednesday, 2/15. Congratulations to our outstanding seniors for their contributions to the hockey program the past four years. These seniors were recognized before the game Saturday night versus Dartmouth.

Cheerleading Congrats to our cheerleaders for getting first place in the Whitman- Hanson invitational.
