Polycom Reference Architecture

Polycom believes that there are many benefits to using a complete end-to-end system that was designed to work together; and to that end we would like to propose a complete solutions strategy. All Polycom hardware is designed to industry (ITU) standards, and will interoperate with all similarly manufactured gear.

Polycom RMX 2000™ V4.0 – Key Differentiators

RMX 2000 Key Benefits First bridge in industry to support 1080p/30fps

and 720p/60fps Only bridge to scale up to 800 audio ports, 160 CIF ports,

or 60 SD on single platform without cascading!! Unsurpassed scale and redundancy when paired

with DMA 7000 Most flexible and cost effective in mixed CIF/SD/HD customer networks (per port)

– Only bridge to support “fixed” and “flexible” modes

Only bridge to provide Lost Packet Recovery™ (LPR) Addresses Codian “Clear Vision” with Video Clarity and wide resolution formats

Page 12: RMX 2000 Benefits

12

Video Clarity™ with MPM+ cards

Adds value to legacy endpoints and improves overall conference experience

Can be turned on in RMX profiles to sharpen and upscale images

Calls are upgraded in mixed conferences QCIF →CIF; CIF→SD; SD →HD (to 720p)

Video Clarity

Enhancing the quality of the video sent from the RMX to the EPs, when the quality of the source is limited.

Two relevant scenarios:

The source and the destination have similar

video capabilities (e.g. both can send and receive

CIF streams). Video source will be enhanced

and improved, although the output resolution

is not higher than the source

The destination has higher resolution than

the input. In this case, the input stream will

be improved and upscaled so it is sent with

higher resolution to the destination

Video ClarityTM

CIF

4CIF CIF

CIF input is enhanced and

upscaled to 4CIF

CIF input is enhanced and

sent as CIF output

2CIF vs. WCIF

Most displays today are 16:9 More pixels horizontally than vertically

Resolution with more pixels horizontally will provide a sharper image

2CIF resolution – 352x576 WCIF resolution – 512x288

RMX 2000 will be able to receive 2CIF resolution from HDX EPs, but will send out WCIF output
