    I. Introduction

In President Noynoy Aquinos SONA he discussed first the presence of

Wang Wang or the corrupt officials in the government. PNoy had elaborated that

the existence of corrupt officials should stop to regain the trust and loyalty of ourcountrymen in the current administration. I appreciate the effort that Pnoy exerted to

stop these corrupt officials because it will not only regain the trust of the people but

also regulate the proper allocation of tax. I also agree to the fact that Pnoy had

approved the transparency in local government agencies in which the information on

the utilization of government funds and implementation of products were showed to

the public because these will give assurance that the money we pay as taxes to the

government is spent properly. He also addressed about the anomalies of the

previous administration. I agree with him that the situation of the country became

even worse because of the Arroyo administration due to the different scandals and

anomalies that involved the former President GMA and the first gentleman Mikee

Arroyo. PNoy also mentioned about the recent developments in the Economic, Socio

Cultural, Political, Education, Health and Public Service which lead to the positive

outlook of the people in achieving a better Philippines in the near future. Lastly,

PNoy mentioned that we should thank our fellow citizens because instead of going

to a foreign country for employment they still chose to serve our motherland.

President Benigno S. Aquino IIIs approval and trust ratings dipped anew in thelatest Pulse Asia survey results released on Wednesday.

Despite the drop, the President still got 71 percent approval and trust ratings in a surveyconducted nationwide by the Pulse Asia from May 21 to June 4 with 1,200 respondents.

In the March Pulse survey, President Aquinos approval and trust ratings were 74percent and 75 percent, respectively.

In the recent survey, only eight percent of Filipinos expressed disapproval for and 7percent distrust in President Aquinos performance.

Pulse Asia noted that the same percentages of Filipinos are unable to say if theyapprove or disapprove of the Presidents work in the past three months (21 percent) andare ambivalent on his trustworthiness (22 percent).

Between March and May, 2011, public approval for presidential performance eased (-15

percentage points), while public indecision became more pronounced (+12 percentagepoints) in the Visayas, Pulse Asia pointed out.

In addition, President Aquinos trust ratings in Metro Manila and the Visayas declined bydouble-digit margins between March and May, 2011 (-13 and -14 percentage points, respectively), while a double digit increase in the level of public ambivalence as regardspresidential trustworthiness in the Visayas (+11 percentage points) was noted.

III. Analysis of each set of data presented

    Economic

The countrys exportsgrew by an average of 10.65 percent from 2004 to 2007,

supported by continuedstrong growth in global trade. The expected negative effect of

the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001 was mitigated by the renewed confidence on safer

trade as ensured by more stringent export regimes of the European Union (EU) and the

United States (US). Export growth peaked in 2006, when exports surpassed targets and

grew by 18.3 percent, driven by rising sales to the countrys traditional trading partners,

the US and Japan, as well as China, the Netherlands, Germany, Singapore, Malaysia

and Korea. This pace could not be sustained in the following years, owing to the

slowdown in the US market, high production costs, particularly in energy and logistics,

    and a strong peso.

In the fourth quarter of 2008 the sector felt the effects of the global

economiccrisis, actually contracting by 2.19 percent relative to 2007. As the global

recession dragged on in 2009, export value fell drastically, contracting by 16.1 percent

compared to 2008. In 2010, however, exports began to rise again, surging ahead with

two digit growth rates in line with the expectations of global economicrecovery (Table

3.2). For 2010, merchandise exports amounted to US$48.3 billion, growing 34.8 percent

over exports in 2009. This was supported by increases in exports of manufactured

goods and total agro-based products, both at about 36 percent. The countrys top ten

export commodities also registered increases particularly coconut oil,

communication/radar and semiconductor devices. Exports registered positive growth

with the recovery of global trade.

    Socio Cultural

About 3 out of every 8 CBAs (37.4%or 80) with wage increase provisions granted

increment in the monthly wage. Specifically, monthly wage increment was stipulated in

more than threefourths of the CBAs in electricity, gas and water supply (9 out of 11) and

financial intermediation (7 out of 9). Percent Increase of Basic Pay Only a small

proportion of registered CBAs with wage increase provision (9.8% or 21) opted for an

increase in percentage of basic pay.

CBAs from the electricity, gas and water supply gave the highest wage increase

amounting to 100.0% of basic pay while CBAs from manufacturing granted the lowest

increase of 4.0% in basic pay. The amount granted varied across industries with the

lowest minimum monthly wage increase at P30.00 (transport, storage and

communications) while the highest minimum monthly wage increase provided was

P3,600.00 (real estate, renting and business activities)

Lowest maximum monthly wage increase granted was P1, 000.00 (hotels and

restaurants) while the highest maximum monthly wage increase fixed was P10, 000.00

    (manufacturing).

    IV. Conclusion

The sudden increase in the countrys exports last 2010 results in positive

economic growth for the Philippines and it promotes our participation in the global trade.

The wage increase due to the Collective Bargaining Agreement helps our countrymen

significantly by increasing their buying capacity. Thus, they can participate more on the

economic activity in the society. Even though the trust rating on President Noynoy

Aquino went down to 71% it is still a positive feedback to the administration because the

people still has high hopes and expectations on the governance of President Aquino.
