Letter from the Director...The River Forest Community Center is an Illinois not-for-profit organization that was incorpo-rated in 1975 for the purpose of providing recreational, social and educational programs for the residents of River Forest and surrounding communities. The Community Center CANNOT and DOES NOT tax River Forest residents. It is a self-supporting organization that derives its operat-ing budget from program user fees.

Throughout its history the Community Center has developed a number of partnerships with other community organizations and agencies which benefit residents and program participants and contribute significantly to the overall success of the Community Center, including:

• River Forest School District 90 - shared resources, facilities and services for residents plus the Blended Preschool program which is available to Village residents as part of the Illinois state mandated Pre-Kindergarten program.

• River Forest Township - shared resources, facilities and services for the benefit of residents plus joint sponsorship of numerous programs for youth and senior citizens.

• Oak Park/River Forest High School District 200 – shared resources plus hosting the Commu-nity Integrated Transition Education (CITE) program for OPRFHS students.

• Opportunity Knocks (OK) – expanded programs at the Community Center

During the past year, the Community Center has continued to participate in the feasibility study that is being undertaken by an independent engineering firm to assess the needs of various com-munity organizations and governmental entities and the projected costs to address these needs. Although the feasibility study was originally anticipated to be completed by the end of 2019, it is now expected to be completed in the spring of 2020.

The Community Center has also continued to increase its program offerings and appreciates input it receives from participants about our programs. Based on this input, the Community Center has made several changes during the past year, including 1) restructuring its summer camp program to better accommodate participants, 2) offering additional themed birthday parties and 3) expanding the number of recreation programs that are offered.

Participants and visitors are encouraged to check out the Center’s web site at www.rfcc.info to view our on-line program brochure and available programs. As always, the Community Center prides itself on offering quality programs at a reasonable cost and sincerely thanks our participants for their continued support. We look forward to seeing you in one of our programs in the future! —Dick Chappell, CPRP, Executive Director, RFCC
