There is a TAC ad on TV at the moment that says,

looking at our phone is like driving with our eyes

covered. I checked on the internet and when we

are travelling at 60kph we travel 17m and at

100kph we travel 28m. An awful lot can happen on

the road in that distance that we would be unaware

of as we wouldn’t see it. This isn’t a driving

instruction article, but if we think about how we

live our lives it is very easy to become distracted

and shift our focus off what is important. So, what

should be the focus of our lives?

In Proverbs 3:5-6 it says “5 Trust in the LORD with

all your heart and lean not on your own

understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him,

and he will make your paths straight.”

And in Proverbs 4:25-27 it says “25

Let your

eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly

before you. 26

Give careful thought to the paths for

your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. 27

Do

not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot

from evil.”

Here we are instructed to give careful thought to

God and what he wants in our lives and not to

deviate from that.

If we consider how far each one of us has come in

our lives, and how often we haven’t concentrated

on what God is calling us to do, or offered up to

him all that is happening in our lives, how fortunate

are we that he hasn’t taken his attention off us! Just

think of the joy we have missed out on as we have

strayed from his path.

Beginning this week, let us give more time to God

in our lives for we cannot give him too much

attention.

God Bless

Corbz

Next week’s Newsletter will come home with students when they are back in class on

Tuesday May 26th, plus distributed by email as usual.

Prayer Points

• Thankfulness to God for the way He has

provided for us over these recent weeks.

• For wisdom as final preparation is made for a

return to classroom learning at RCCC and

elsewhere.

• That we would be united in Christ’s love, being

one in spirit and of one mind.

• For the school Board as it meets for its normal

monthly meeting on Wednesday evening.

• Just as the RCCC pioneers were moved by God

to consider a different way for their children’s

education almost 40 years ago, as we approach

and move beyond this significant milestone,

please continue in prayer and listening for what

God now wants us to be and to do as a school

community.

While prayer can be at anytime and anywhere, parents

and friends are also welcome to unite in prayer at

home or at school each Monday during the school

term, 8.50am to 9.10am. If at school, this will be in

the Library for now.

RCCC Inc. AGM

The RCCC Inc. Annual General Meeting will be held at

7.30pm on Wednesday May 27th this year where reports will

be received from the Chairman, Treasurer (including audited

financials) and the Principal. Current parents in the school are

also welcome to come to the AGM as non-voting visitors and

applications for membership of RCCC Inc. are welcome at

any time. However, as this year’s AGM will be held via video

conference, if you would like to attend as a non-voting

visitor, please let me know and I’ll advise you of the

arrangements. Peter Nelson

Special Online Opportunities

Due to our friendship with Belgrave Heights Christian

School, three of our students have commenced a short

online tutorial to expand their writing skills through the

Melbourne Young Writers' Studio.

Also over the last couple of weeks, a short online

mentoring program arranged by I CAN commenced and

we are pleased to continue our relationship with this

organisation which supports young people on the Autism

Spectrum. Four of our secondary students have taken up

this opportunity.

The Beacon organisation have converted their Interview

Technique and Resume Writing course into an online

workshop which our Oven Class will be involved with next

Monday. It is expected that online Mock Interviews will

also follow before the end of this term.

Open Day

During May each year is Education Week and a

time when many schools have an open day,

welcoming people into their schools and

classrooms to build the existing community and to

encourage enrolments for future years. We are

continuing with the promotion of the school in

the local press during this time but not proceeding

with an Open Day as such. None-the-less, we are

very keen to talk to people about how we can

support the education of their child, providing

them with the information they are looking for at

this time.

If you know of anyone likely to need to enrol

their child in school for next year or even earlier,

please encourage them to contact us. We are also

keen to receive enrolments for any 2021 Preps

within the current RCCC community.

Resuming Classroom Learning

Please check out the poster at the back of this Newsletter for display at home.

A more detailed description of this was emailed to parents in a Bulletin last Thursday but if you missed that or

have any questions or comments, please call or email me. However, below is how we at River City Christian

College will manage a phased return to classroom learning, along with the conclusion of remote learning at the

end of this week. All classes will attend as follows:

Tuesday 26th & Thursday 28

th May only during this week, for a special program of reuniting on-site and getting

back into classes.

Monday 1st, Wednesday 3

rd & Friday 5

th June only during this week, for a return to normal timetabled classes

in most cases.

Tuesday 9th to Friday 12

th June (Monday is a Public Holiday), following our normal timetable of classes.

Monday 15th to Friday 26

th June, normal classes through to the end of Term 2, with a 2.15pm dismissal on that

last day as usual.

In that Bulletin last Thursday, I outlined the various areas where additional attention and processes will be applied

to suitably care for students and staff in the weeks ahead, complying with various health and other guidelines.

Please return any completed work and school equipment we have loaned you on Tuesday 26th May as there will

be no drop off / collection this Friday afternoon. Normal transport to school arrangements will apply on Tuesday

morning May 26th, with suitable cleaning and physical distancing being implemented on the buses. We are relying

on you to make good use of the days during this return phase where the children are at home (May 25th, 27

th,

29th, June 2

nd & 4

th) as remote learning packages will have concluded.

Please note that students should be in their full winter uniform when classroom learning resumes and if you are

missing any parts of that, please contact Joan at the school office as soon as possible. Peter Nelson.

Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal

As we further build a connection with the local Salvation Army, in our endeavour to support

local people who are struggling to have enough food or have other welfare needs met, we

want to encourage the school community to support their upcoming Red Shield Appeal. If you

are able, there are a number of ways you could do this but one would be to donate online to

https://digitaldoorknock.salvationarmy.org.au/t/echuca-moama-salvos

Money given in this way goes to welfare needs in the Echuca Moama region and while they

welcome gifts at any time, their annual appeal weekend is coming up on May 23rd & 24

th. They have started

promoting the need for donations and will continue to do that through to the end of June.

Their mission is to live, love and fight for everyone in need and they are experiencing that need to be greater now

than ever.

Please generously give if you are able as we partner with the Echuca-Moama Salvos in this manner.

In addition to Pastor Kez Sinapius’

during last week’s school Chapel, a

somewhat reluctant to be identified

as you will see in the clip below!

School Calendar Changes

At the end of this term we had a couple of special events which have needed to be rescheduled into Semester 2. They

are the Waverly Christian College Grade 6 student leaders’ visit to RCCC and our Year 10’s week of work experience.

Updates on these events will be provided as they become available.
