Imbolc Ritual

Items needed 2 White Candles 1 Gold Candle Goddess Brigid Powder Incense (Recipe below) Purification Oil (Recipe below) Cakes & Ale (Recipes below)

Goddess Brigid Incense Purification Oil

Cake & Ale

Recipes Goddess Brigid Powder Incense Apple leaves Gardena Lavender Eucalyptus Grind together all ingredients into a fine powder. Sprinkle onto a charcoal disc in a fire proof dish. Purification Oil 1 drop geranium 1 drop frankincense 1 drop rosemary ½ tsp. Creek Water ½ tsp. Vodka Mix all ingredients in a glass bottle. Shake bottle once daily for 7 days. Keep stored in a dark cool place. Coffee Contentment 6 eggs grated lemon peel 1/2 cup sugar 3 cups strong fruity coffee 1/2 cup apple juice 1 Tbsp. brandy flavoring Beat eggs until frothy, then slowly add grated peel from one lemon and sugar until thick. Set aside while you mix together the remaining ingredients. Fold this into the egg mixture very slowly. Serve in chilled glasses. Imbolc Ritual Cake 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 3/4 cup water 3/4 cup sugar 1/4 cup vegetable oil 2 tbs. poppy seeds 1 tbs. grated lemon peel

1 tsp. baking soda 2 tbs. lemon juice 1/2 tsp. salt Powdered sugar Preparation: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix flour, sugar, poppy seeds, baking soda, and salt with a fork in a non-greased 9"x9"x2" baking pan. Stir in the remaining ingredients, except the powdered sugar. Bake 35-40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean, and the top is golden brown. Remove from oven and cool. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Pre Ritual Instructions Light the 2 White candles and the Incense.

Circle Casting Starting in the east and moving clockwise, hold out your index finger and visualize a white light coming from it. As you turn in a circle, visualize the light getting brighter with each turn and say: “I now cast this protective circle all within will be safe from any harm.” Repeat above two more times and on the third turn toward the east say: “This circle has now been cast. So Mote It Be!”

Corner Calling Face each direction and say: East “Element of Air, bless us with intellect and knowledge on this celebration night. Hail and Welcome!” South “Element of Fire, bless us with protection and strength on this celebration night. Hail and Welcome!” West “Element of Water, bless us with emotions and intuition on this celebration night. Hail and Welcome!” North “Element of Earth, bless us with practical thought and structure on this celebration night. Hail and Welcome!”

Invocation Light Gold Candle and say: “Goddess Brigid, bless us with your presents on this night. We ask you on this night to join us. Hail and Welcome!”

Ritual work Pick up your purification oil and anoint yourself by placing one (1) drop of oil as follows:

Body Area You Say

Feet “I anoint my feet so they may walk in purity.”

Hands “I anoint my hands to do well to others and help when in need.”

Heart “I anoint my heart to only have pure emotions.”

Forehead “I anoint my forehead to only have pure thoughts.”

Cakes and Ale Hold up your cakes and ale in front of you and say: “Goddess Brigid, we eat and drink on this night in your honor.” Eat and drink.

Thanks to the Deity Snuff or blow out gold candle and say: “Goddess Brigid, thank you for joining us here on this night and purifying us with your grace. Hail and Farewell!”

Releasing the Corners Face the directions and say: North “Element of earth, we thank you so much for joining us on this night. Hail and Farewell!” West “Element of water, we thank you so much for joining us on this night. Hail and Farewell!”

South “Element of fire, we thank you so much for joining us on this night. Hail and Farewell!” East “Element of air, we thank you so much for joining us on this night. Hail and Farewell!”

Opening the Circle Going in reverse now, starting in the north, hold out your index finger and visualize a bright white light coming from it. Going counter clockwise toward the west, visualize your white light growing dim and say: “I am opening this circle of protection.” Repeat above two more times and on the third turn to the east say: “Our circle is open. So Mote It Be!” Now everyone says: “Blessed Be!”

Ritual Ending “May you remain in the arms of the Goddess forever!”

Post Ritual Instructions Dispose of wax and ashes as see fit.

(Self-Purification) Full Moon

Gold Candle Incense Silver Candle

Salt Purification Anointment Oil Black Candle

Cake & Ale Water Wand

Recipes Purification Anointment Oil 4 drops Frankincense 3 drops myrrh 1 drop Sandalwood ½ teaspoon Vodka 1 tablespoon Distilled Water Mix all ingredients into a amber colored bottle and place in a dark cool area for 3 days, mixing several times daily. Wear to be rid of negativity.

Purification Powder Incense Sandalwood Cinnamon Frankincense Grind all ingredients into powder using a mortar and pedestal. Sprinkle onto a charcoal disc in a fire proof dish. Spirit Be Gone Brew 1 tsp. raspberry leaf 1 tsp. black currant leaf 1 tsp. lemon balm 1 tsp. valerian 1 tsp. chamomile 4 cups boiling water This beverage is prepared like a normal tea. Poppy Seed Cake 1 cup cooking oil 1 cup honey 3 eggs 3 cups whole-wheat flour 1 cup poppy seeds 3 1/2 tsps. baking soda 1 1/2 cups buttermilk 1/2 tsp. salt Mix all ingredients together. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 40-45 mins or until done.

Pre Ritual Instructions Do a calming meditation before you start this ritual.

Progressive Relaxation Find a place where you can sit or lay back comfortably. Breathe slowly for a few moments, visualizing the air flowing in and out of your lungs. Eventually, your breathing pattern will begin to slow, along with your thoughts. Draw your attention into your left foot. Become aware of every sensation from ankle to toes. Squeeze the muscles in your left foot tightly. Feel the sense of pressure building inside. After five seconds, let go and allow your left foot to relax. Feel all tension easing out, leaving the foot completely free from strain. Repeat the process in the right foot; focus first on the feelings, squeeze tightly, then let go. Continue going up your body in this way, relaxing each part in progression. Move all thoughts to your legs, then abdomen, hands and arms, shoulders, back, chest, neck, and face. Upon reaching the very top of your head, your entire body should feel loose and limp. Simply enjoy this feeling of relaxation and inner stillness for as long as desired.

Circle Casting Starting in the east and moving clockwise to the south, hold out your wand and say: “This circle of protection is being cast.” Repeat the above phrase in each of the directions. Repeat above steps two more times and on the third turn toward the east say: “This circle is now closed, safe and secure we will be. So Mote It Be!”

Corner Calling East Light the incense and say: “I ask the watchtowers of the east, element of air, to please join us here tonight. Hail and Welcome!” South Light the Black Candle and say: “I ask the watchtowers of the south, element of fire, to please join us here tonight. Hail and Welcome!” West Hold the bowl of water up and say: “I ask the watchtowers of the west, element of water, to please join us here tonight. Hail and Welcome!” North Run your index finger through the salt and say: “I ask the watchtowers of the north, element of earth, to please join us here tonight. Hail and Welcome!”

Invocation Light the Gold Candle and say: “I ask the God Februus, God of purification, to come and join us here tonight. Hail and Welcome!” Light the Silver Candle and say: “I ask the Goddess Coventina, Goddess of purification, to come and join us here tonight. Hail and Welcome!”

Ritual work Take the anointment oil and place a drop on each foot saying: “I now anoint my feet to be pure with every step I make.” Place a drop of oil on each hand while saying: “I now anoint my hand to only do good for others and myself.” Place a drop of oil on your chest over your heart and say: “I now anoint my heart to be pure and sincere.” Place a drop of oil and place on your forehead and say: “I anoint my head to be pure with all of my thoughts and actions. So Mote It Be!”

Cakes and Ale Take up your cakes & ale and make a toast by saying: “I toast to the Lord and Lady for their gentleness and for purifying me.” Now eat and drink of the cakes & ale saving some.

Thanks to the Deity Snuff out Gold and Silver Candles and say: “Thank you God Februus and Goddess Coventina, for being here with us tonight. Stay if you will, leave if you must. Hail and Farewell!”

Releasing the Corners North Facing the north, say: “Watchtowers of the north, element of earth, thank you for being here with us tonight. Hail and Farewell!” West Facing the west, say: “Watchtowers of the west, element of water, thank you for being here with us tonight. Hail and Farewell!” South Facing the south, snuff out Black Candle and say: “Watchtowers of the south, element of fire, thank you for being here with us tonight. Hail and Farewell!” East Facing the east, say: “Watchtowers of the east, element of air, thank you for being here with us tonight. Hail and Farewell!”

Opening the Circle Starting in the north and going counterclockwise, hold out your wand and say: “As I make my turn, this circle is opening. I will be safe and pure.” Repeat phrase in all directions. Repeat above steps two more times, and on the third turn to the east say: “This circle is now open. So Mote It Be!”

Ritual Ending “May you go in peace and love.”

Post Ritual Instructions Take wax, ashes, water, salt, cake and ale and bury in the ground near your home as an offering to Mother Earth.
