WhatisRITEorRacialIntelligence(RI)Racial Intelligence helps us gain awareness of our emotions (EI), to improve situationalawareness and conflict management when engaging with others (SI), which buildscommunicationsskillshelpingtheofficerDe-escalatesituations.TheRITEModelisEI+SI=RIEmotionalIntelligence(EI)islearningtobecomeawareofouremotions,andtoacknowledgethatemotionsdrivebehaviorthatcanimpactothers(positivelyandnegatively).Learningtomanageemotions,inthemoment,iscrucialtoDe-escalation.
SocialIntelligence(SI)ishowweeffectivelynavigateandnegotiateallsocialrelationshipsandsituations.LearningandusingyourEI,isvaluabletoimprovingyourSI.
