Rising Star of the Month
Liam has been involved in MusicWorks sinceApril 2017 and is doing a wonderful job inmusic therapy. Liam is very friendly, happy andloves music. His favorite activity in musictherapy sessions is using the microphone. Liamloves singing songs from Frozen and knows allof the lyrics to the song. He belts out the songwith such confidence and puts a smile oneveryone's face when he sings. Liam alsoenjoys playing different instruments like theTheremin and using colorful scarves to dancewith his friends. Liam brings a positive energyto music therapy sessions every week and weall enjoy sharing music with him!

Upon opening our Havertown TreatmentCenter in July 2011, MusicWorks applied forthree grants for equipment. Without a proventract record, we were NOT selected to receivefunding for the first two grants and on June 20,we were unsure how we were going to open. Jerry and I personally had one Dell desktopand one Sony Vaio laptop. We were preparedto have our kids come to the office whenhomework needed to be completed.
The third grant was funded by a foundation thatwishes to remain anonymous. Desktops, alaptop, and music equipment enough to startour center. We purchased desktops on June
Fast forward to January 2020 , that samegrantor generously has supported MusicWorksonce again. We are so very blessed to beginreplacing obsolete computer equipment andand older music equipment, add new Remostacking drums, and upgrade software.
This grantor has funded our mission each yearsince 2011. Thank you so very much in helpingMusicWorks open TWO centers and to providemusic therapy services to our clients! We couldnot have achieved this success without yoursupport!

Music Therapy Tip: What Can I Do With My Child Musically atHome? At MusicWorks, we encourage parents tointeract musically with their children outside ofthe music therapy studios. Why? The more youand your children can engage in music ormusic therapy activities in between sessions, the more comfortable and confident yourchildren will be in music therapy sessions. Ifyou can do something as simple as singing"The Hello Song" with your daughter or sonevery day, you are doing a great service to yourchild in terms of being more social andinteractive in music therapy sessions. You canduplicate any tasks we do in the treatmentcenters, outside music therapy sessions. If youdo not have access to music instruments, thereare many ideas on homemade instruments thatcan serve the same purpose. Look to theInternet for do it yourself music instruments. And, you as a parent will discover a new way tolove, interact and communicate with your child. If you need any ideas, just ask your musictherapist at MusicWorks, we will be glad to helpyou to keep on playing.
