What is Dual Enrollment?
✘ Allows students to receive high school and college credit
simultaneously through NVCC, GMU, or JMU.
✘ College level course is taken at Herndon High School with certified
instructors.
✘ Credits (3-6) you take as a dual enrollment student can transfer to
four-year colleges.
✘ Earn 3-6 credits for free from NOVA!
✘ Eligibility: Minimum 3.0 GPA or qualifying test scores (PSAT, SAT, SOL)
✘ No AP Exam at the end of the course.

Please use the course
selection sheet, course catalog,
and step by step directions to
select your senior year
courses at home on your
laptop with parent input &
approval.
Students will meet with their
school counselor virtually in
their US/VA History class to
review their choices and lock
in their course requests.
COURSE SELECTION PROCESS
BEFORE YOU MEET WITH YOUR COUNSELOR…
1. On SIS StudentVUE, check out your graduation status and course history (“Course
History” tab) to review what courses you have taken and what you need to graduate.
2. Explore the Virtual Curriculum Fair website to learn about core classes and electives.
3. Download the course selection sheet and explore your course options.
4. Check out the course catalog to read descriptions of courses you may be interested in.
5. On your course selection sheet, select 7 courses and 2 alternative electives.
6. When you are ready, click on the “Course Request” tab in your SIS StudentVUE account.
7. Use the step by step instructions and/or watch the video to input your course selections.
COURSE SELECTION PROCESS
ON THE DAY OF YOUR MEETING WITH YOUR COUNSELOR…
1. Make sure you attend your class!
2. Be ready with your course selection sheet or a list of the classes you selected and any
questions.
3. Turn on your camera! It helps us to have this very important conversation with you.
4. Your school counselor will review your selections during your individual meeting and
lock in your course requests.
5. Ask any questions you have about the courses you selected.
6. If you change your mind, email your counselor by March 12th to make any changes to
your course selections.

College Partnership Program (CPP)
Want to go to college? Not sure where to begin?
The College Partnership Program (CPP) is a program designed to assist students who are
traditionally underrepresented in higher education (first generation, African-American, Alaskan
Native, Hispanic, limited English proficient, students with disabilities or economically
disadvantaged students) explore, apply and enroll in college.
