Rising Prices?
How to Maximize Your Share and Profitability in a Challenging Market
Delivery Delays?
What’s going on?
The cost of roofing materials like polyiso and membranes is rising, and this trend is expected to continue
Your customers are experiencing sticker-shock from materials costs that are 6%, 10%, or even 50% higher than last year
Manufacturers are announcing long lead times for popular products and withdrawing price protection guarantees
It’s becoming more difficult to compete jobs profitably
What can I do?
We can help you reduce your reliance on expensive materials, bid more competitively, and get more work.
“… likely to encounter material shortagesand an increase in prices…”
“… more than half say they expect material price increases in 2005 … ‘I think we will see nothing but rising prices’ … ‘we cannot get pricing beyond an hour from now, yet a lot of our jobs are two or more months out’ …”
Change in the Industry
Rising Cost of Materials
Increases in the Price of Polyisocyanurate
Johns Manville announced five increases over the past year, raising the price of their polyiso 52%
Firestone has announced six increases since September, including more than 8% for January and February of 2005
GAF and Hunter Panels have both announced 8% increases for the first two months of 2005
Rising Cost of Materials
Increases in the Price of Membrane
Membrane prices rose steadily throughout 2004, a trend that is expected to continue in 2005
Several suppliers have already withdrawn price protection guarantees for some products
By late 2004, several companies had already announced price increases for February and April 2005
Materials Shortages
Companies have increased their lead times. Some current lead times:
GAF 8-12 weeks minFirestone 8-12 weeks minHunter Panels 8-12 weeks minJM EPDM 4 weeks, TPO 6 weeks
In third quarter 2004, Johns Manville temporarily stopped selling their .45 and .60 EPDM membranes because of extreme lead times
The problem is so severe that suppliers are phasing out some types of materials to produce more of the most demanded products
Suppliers have made it clear that their prices are unstable
Price protection guarantees are disappearing
With lead times of up to 12 weeks and some prices increasing monthly, you can’t be certain of what your real costs will be
