Every student has a 90 minute study hall every other day. Within that

time frame we also have advisory lessons 2-3 times per month.

Student Advisory Guidelines

• Be on time.

• Be prepared to study and work on assignments.

• Respect yourself and others.

• Remain in Advisory until scheduled Advisory lessons

and activities are complete.

Advisory is a regularly scheduled block of time when teachers meet with small

groups of students for the purpose of providing an opportunity for students to

focus on their academic obligations and to advise students on academic, social, or

future-planning issues. Advisories are designed to foster stronger adult-student

relationships and a stronger sense of belonging and community among students.

Student Resources during Advisory

• PEER tutoring will be available in room 1312 during

all blocks. Students must obtain a tutoring pass from

the counseling office at the beginning of the day.

• Library passes will be available for each Advisory

block. Students must pick up library passes before or

after school.

• Students who wish to visit another teacher for

assistance or remediation must obtain a pass from

that teacher prior to their Advisory block.

•A small number of 9th

grade students elect to take Biology Honors instead of Earth Science Honors.

•For graduation, Science courses must include 3 different disciplines.

•Colleges and universities like to see Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

•AP options in high school include: Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Environmental Science.

•Keep in mind, if you get overwhelmed in Honors Earth Science a schedule change to Academic Earth Science is possible pending administration approval and space availability. However, if you get overwhelmed in Honors Biology, you can NOT drop to Academic Biology as this course is not open to 9th
