An optional program for senior students who are in good academic standing.
The program provides an opportunity for students to explore a potential career path and enjoy a workplace experience.
Students who participate in this program will leave school for the last three (3) weeks prior to graduation in order to participate in a program of observation or hands-on experience guided by a community sponsor.
No credit or grade is earned and this is an unpaid experience.
Keystone Exams
The majority of our students will take all three Keystone exams (Algebra I, Biology, and Literature) by the end of their sophomore year because they will have completed the corresponding courses.
Students who are not proficient in any of the Keystone test areas will be required to take an enrichment class for the content are in which they are non-proficient.
Students will complete a computer diagnostic exam (CDT) and may be placed in an enrichment course to prepare them for the Keystone exam.
Keystone Exam UPDATE
Use of the Keystone exams as a graduation requirement is postponed until the 2022-2023 school year.
Any student who was supposed to take a Keystone exam last year (first time test takers enrolled in a Keystone trigger course for 2019-2020) are determined to be proficient on that Keystone exam if they passed the course.

Electives
Elective Scheduling Window February 2nd-8thSelections will be made via Skyward student
access. If students do not make their course selections
within this timeframe, choices will be made for them.
If you do not know your username/password please see the counseling secretary or email [email protected].
Electives
Students should add electives to a total credit count (including core courses) of between 6 – 7 credits. Seniors must have a minimum of 6 credits.
Be aware that you cannot schedule more than 8 total credits online in Skyward. You will not be able to schedule courses that earn credit beyond the school day. Example: Vocal Ensemble, Marching Band
Be sure to select 10 alternate electives in case your 1st choice electives cannot be scheduled. Please list them in order of preference. Students are NOT guaranteed to receive their chosen electives, but we try very hard to make it happen.
Lunches, Study Halls and Career Exploration will be automatically added after schedules are created.
Senior Abbreviated Schedule
For the 2021-2022 school year, we would like to offer an opportunity for Seniors to be able to either have a delayed arrival time or an early departure time. Please keep in mind that the following requirements need to be met in order for students to elect to have an abbreviated schedule.
Students will need to be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits. Students must be enrolled in courses that they need for graduation. A parent must agree and sign the consent form. Students will need their own transportation for a late arrival or early
departure. Transportation will only be covered by the district for the full day.
Be aware that due to course requests and the timing of courses, we cannot guarantee an abbreviated schedule. Consent form are due by 3/5/2021.
Counselor Meetings
School counselors will meet with each student to discuss core course recommendations and elective choices.
The meeting schedule will be posted and emailed for students and parents to review.
Waivers
If at the Semester 1 mark during core teacher recommendations a student does not meet the prerequisite as outlined in the POS but is within 5% points, students can communicate this to their counselor during their pre-scheduled individual meetings and complete a waiver form.
Dr. Parkinson will need to approve any request outside of 5%.

Marking Period 1. Students may not level down during Marking Period 2. Leveling Up All course level change requests to move up a level must be made within the first
two academic cycles of the school year.Withdrawal A withdrawal from a PAHS course during semester one will result in the recording of
a WITHDRAWAL PASS (WP) or a WITHDRAWAL FAIL (WF) on the student’s transcript. The designation is dependent upon the course grade at the time of the withdrawal. Only a student who has a current final grade of a 59 or below may withdraw after the semester 2 start and will receive that grade on their transcript. In either scenario the student does not gain credit for any portion of the course.
