Rector’s Reflections
Dear Resurrec on People,
As summer me transi ons to autumn, memories of losses and blessings dance in my head and pulse in my heart. We have said goodbye to two beloved members, Doris Wozniak and Dominick Salvatore. Some of us have suffered the loss of family members and other major life changes. In sharing our struggles we plant seeds of hope for each other, and find God’s love transforming loss into new life (even when we can’t see it yet). This is what it means to be Resurrec‐on people! When we cannot find the faith to be‐
lieve, others’ faith carries us, like Jesus in the famous footprint story. We are good at caring for others. We need to also be willing to let others carry us in faith un l we remember and rejoice in the power of the Resurrec on of Jesus Christ to transform lives now, not just when we die.
We have also experienced many blessings and signs of new life. Our Wednesday Healing Service is grow‐ing with frequent visitors. One is making this service his new spiritual home and a ending on Sundays as his work schedule permits. A childhood parishioner of St. Andrews is returning with his bride‐to‐be as they discover religion making a difference in their new life together (the wedding is in April). A friend who started par cipa ng in our adult studies a few years ago is being received into the Episcopal Church

A Word from our Warden
Dear Friends,
It is my hope that September finds you refreshed and renewed—ready to start a new season at Resur‐rec on. We have experienced many emo ons dur‐ing the last three months. There have been joyous celebra ons of weddings, birthdays and reunions; we have mourned the loss of devoted parishioners; and were deeply saddened by the death of our dear Marie’s daughter. Many of us ba led personal problems, never losing site of the fact that God was with us in all of this.
Now we turn our a en on to autumn life at Resur‐rec on. Mark your calendars so you are sure to re‐member all the important dates ahead. A group of us will meet on Saturday, September 13th, for Safe Church training. The class will start at 9:00am and along with the previously held class on August 9th, ensure we are in compliance with the diocesan man‐date. It may also be noted that September 13th is the Campbell Avenue Block Party, between Lafa‐ye e and Center Streets. The street will be closed off at 12 noon un l 11pm.
The “Tea and Scripture” sessions will con nue on Thursday a ernoons from 4‐5pm. All are welcome. On the evening of Wednesday, September 17th, from 7‐8:30pm, a class en tled “It’s Worth It” will be held. No reading necessary. The Williston Street Fair will take place on Sunday, September 21st. We hope to see you there.
Our annual Parish Potluck dinner is scheduled for Saturday evening September 27th, from 6‐8pm. Come and share good food and fellowship with your parish family. This is always a fun evening. A sign‐up sheet is in back of the church.
In October Mother Chris na offers an adult course on the book “The Episcopal Way.” It will be held the evenings of October 1st, 8th, and 15th. Other op‐portuni es to “LEARN.SHARE.GROW.” are planned for November and December. You can read about them and the events men oned above elsewhere in this newsle er. Please consider a ending as many as you can. Also note that our Pet Blessing takes place on Saturday, October 4th.

Opportuni es to expand our faith and introduce oth‐ers to Resurrec on living abound. Let us use them to share what we have found here with those outside our doors.
Blessings to all,
Joan
Our Vestry
Our Vestry is comprised of dedicated leaders responsible for the wellbeing of the church. In addi‐on to managing the property and finances, we are
the “ears” and “voice” of the parishioners. The Vestry works closely with the Priest, who is respon‐sible for the spiritual wellbeing of the parish.
Do you feel called to lead Resurrec‐on into the future? Maybe God is calling you to join
the Vestry. If the above ques on resonates with you, have a chat with Joan S. or Jane C.

in October. Perilous pregnancies are blooming with healthy babies sheltered by our prayers. Caring Connec ons is cul va ng an ac ve ministry of shar‐ing God’s love with folks who can’t make it to church. More people than we ever imagined are par cipa ng in the Diocesan Safe Church Training as we can truly say we are a safe church for all who come.
God is good! I wear around my wrist a reminder: “For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11). When things go wrong, God weeps with us, and holds us un l we can stand up straight and feel Resurrec on love radia ng on, in, and through us.
May we know God’s love, be God’s love for others, and celebrate God’s love in all we do.
Love and Peace,
Mother Christina

Gathering to study, reflect and share our hunger and thirst for God’s wisdom is becoming very popular. This fall we are offering a series of opportuni es to balance spiritual truths with prac cal living. We begin with a one‐night chat: “It’s Worth It.” What be er way to start a busy fall season than by ground‐ing in the goodness of life?
In October we offer a three‐week series on The Epis‐copal Way: how our way of being Chris an uniquely prepares us for being effec ve ministers of Christ in our changing world. Friends can be curious without commi ng to becoming Episcopalian. Episcopalians can discover there is more life in our roots than we might already know! I am excited about this series because our very own Canon for Missional Vitality Stephanie Spellers co‐wrote the book with Eric Law, another outstanding Episcopal priest and innovator.
In November Mary Pat will lead us through a series on Centering with Mys cs. Rumor has it Julian of Norwich, Hildegard von Bingen, and The Cloud of Un‐knowing will be making appearances.
In Advent we will limit our sessions to two evenings based on a bumper‐s cker “Jesus is Coming – Look Busy!” Of course it’s a joke – the point of Advent is to slow down and prepare for Christ by NOT being over‐whelmed with busyness. All sessions are being held on Wednesday evenings 7‐8:30 pm. Come early to visit! Watch E‐notes and announcements for regis‐tra on guidelines. ~ CvL
Tea & Scripture
All summer we have had a faithful group of rota ng par cipants from the neighborhood as well as the parish par cipate in this one‐hour Bible study. Our focus is one of the readings in the Lec onary for the following Sunday. We learn about its “backstory”, hear it read, reflect, and share our thoughts and ex‐periences with it. This fall we will learn more about Moses and the People of God than Sunday School ever told us. These are founda onal stories of faith with implica ons for us today. Come when you can, no registra on or prepara on is needed. Remember, we’ve moved from Wednesdays to Thursdays, s ll 4‐5 pm, in the undercro (enter through main church doors). ~ CvL

Dear Rev. Chris na, Thank you for the warm welcome to your church. Everyone was so kind and gracious, especially Carol. The service was exactly the way I had always hoped one would be like. I look forward to a ending your Wednesday services and being more involved the church. Thank you again,

The Footprints Prayer One night I had a dream... I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord, and Across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene I noticed two sets of foot-prints in the sand; One belonged to me, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of my life flashed before us, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that many times along the path of my life, There was only one set of footprints.
I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in my life This really bothered me, and I questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, You would walk with me all the way; But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, There is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why in times when I needed you the most, you should leave me.
The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child. I love you, and I would never, never leave you during your times of trial and suffering. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you.
