“A writer must live up to the test of reality, including

political reality and that cannot be done if he keeps his

distance.” —Gunter Gross

For the manifestation of original literary expression,

development of creative writing and writing habit, our

college brings out this half-yearly magazine. Taking up the

monumental task of editing the college magazine RIPPLEs

is no cake walk.

As we started working, we were overwhelmed by the

response we received. We really feel honored and take this

opportunity to thank everyone who came forward to be a

part of the team to submit an article, a sketch or may be a

just photograph. We have our faith restored since creativity

has never been a dying art. We believe that we have always

tried to be different, daring, creative, impartial and almost

everything that asserts integrity of purpose and imaginative

vision.

Our young and fresh team has tried to make all of you aware

of the various opportunities this institution offers. We tried

to be almost everywhere, watching everything, for we guard

this heaven of ours – Sphoorthy Engineering College. We

reported only a thing called conscience. And after that, how

you treat this magazine, solely lies in your hands.

HOD MESSAGE :

No matter what situation you are in, you have a choice. No matter how bad things

are, you have a choice. No matter what you think you can or cannot do, you have a

choice.

Now it may not be an easy choice, by any means. It may be a very difficult choice

and the road you decide to take may be a tough one. It may push you way out of

your comfort zone. It may mean that in the initial period your life may get even

harder than it already is. But it is a choice nonetheless.

Many a time you will actually find that the choices are not as hard as you thought

they were. You may just have to shut off your mind from seeing those choices and

possibilities because you thought you had no choice. Once you become open to the

idea that you are responsible for your life and that you have choices, you will find

that you are no longer stuck just because life is hard.

At that point, life is still hard, but you will have the final say. Your life becomes

more meaningful and purposeful.

HOD’s MESSAGE:

Invest a few moments in thinking. It will pay good interest.” – Author

Unknown

Michelangelo, Einstein, and Winston Churchill. What do these three historical

figures have in common? They were freaking freaks of nature with minds that

reached far beyond any of us peasants’ realm of thinking. Or, in more delicate

terms, they were creative geniuses that took their environments and used them as

fuel to change their surroundings forever and for better.

Creativity is often viewed as instinctive, but it can be brought about from the very

basic things in life, most importantly the balance of environmental influence on the

thought process.

Time is the raw material of creation. Wipe away the magic and myth of creating

and all that remains is work: the work of becoming expert through study and

practice, the work of finding solutions to problems and problems with those

solutions, the work of trial and error, the work of thinking and perfecting, the work

of creating. Creating consumes. It is all day, every day. It knows neither weekends

nor vacations. It is not when we feel like it. It is habit, compulsion, obsession,

vocation. The common thread that links creators is how they spend their time. No

matter what you read, no matter what they claim, nearly all creators spend nearly

Page 54: Ripples Edition-II

all their time on the work of creation. There are few overnight successes and many

up-all-night successes.

. In the creative industry it’s important to master different thinking styles and the

great news is that anyone can switch easily between them. The only problem is that

you are probably more effective in one style of thinking than the others. To keep it

simple, you often think in three specific ways:

Logically,

Practically,

Or Creatively.

Knowledge is your foundation for creativity. Understanding the creative thinking

process helps you to define your strengths and weaknesses. This can be particularly

useful when working in a team.

Without creativity, it would be difficult to distinguish humans from other animals.

Creativity leads to a fuller, more satisfying life. Without creativity, mankind would

not progress.

The only way to stay creative is to organize time, space, and activity to our

advantage. It means developing schedules to protect our time and avoid distraction,

arranging our immediate surroundings to increase concentration, cutting out

meaningless chores that soak up psychic energy, and devoting the energy thus

saved to what we really care about. It is much easier to be personally creative when

we maximize optimal experiences in everyday life.

There are so many aspects of our lives that creativity touches that the importance

of creativity defies logic. We are human, we need to express ourselves as much as

we need the air we breathe.

Creativity isn't just Art. It is our Very Essence.

DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES

Mrs.P.A.L.N.S. KALYANI

MBA, M.Phil., (Ph.D)

HOD- Department of Management Studies

HOD MESSAGE:

THE THREE FUNDAMENTALS OF EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP

The Leaders are differed widely in their personality traits and life stories. Some

have been charismatic, some very modest. Some came from poor backgrounds,

others grew up amid great wealth. Some of them came by their leadership abilities

naturally, and many others worked hard at developing them. But all of these men

and women have shared three critically important skills:

(i) They have been driven by an inspiring vision of success.

(ii) They have excelled at communication.

(iii) They have exercised superior judgment.

To lead our organizations effectively through today’s economic turmoil, we all will

benefit if we master those very same skills.

Leadership success always starts with vision. Henry Ford dreamed of a car families

could afford. Steve Jobs dreamed of an easy-to-use computer that would unleash

creativity. Nelson Mandela dreamed of an integrated, prosperous South Africa.

These were heady ideas, and they attracted more than a few sneers. But they

Page 60: Ripples Edition-II

weren’t the daydreams of lazy people with too much time on their hands. They

were deep-seated passions, magnetic enough to capture the minds of just a few

devoted followers at first but ultimately the imaginations of millions of women and

men. A compelling vision has that power. It inspires, clarifies and focuses the

work of individuals–and preferably entire organizations–for a lengthy span of time.

Before one embark on any leadership enterprise, stop and take a hard look at your

vision of success. What is it? Do you even have one? Often, in the rush to get

things done, to launch a new project or product, we ask people to get behind our

efforts without ever really giving them a good reason why.

But even an incredibly compelling vision won’t do much good if it remains only in

the head. That brings us to the second key skill: communication. For busy leaders,

there’s always the temptation to keep your thoughts to yourself, often because

there’s so much other pressing work to do. Stopping to talk and listen can seem a

waste of time. It’s easy to cut off debate too early, especially in this economically

trying moment.

Still, mustering the discipline and time to share strategies with your staff or talk

directly with your clients is only half the fight. The Leader still need to

communicate effectively–and that means being organization’s chief listening

officer.

A third key element of successful leadership involves judgment. In the end, the

Leadership judgment calls, which are rooted in the character, become your legacy.

Without the right values, judgment can easily be trumped by perverse incentives

that encourage poor ethical choices. Not every single judgment call the leader

makes needs to be correct. But the leader need to make the right calls consistently

on the big choices involving strategy and talent. Good strategy judgment

frequently means a leader must find a new path when his organization is heading in

the wrong direction.

How well a leader can do this depends on his ability to scan the horizon and ask

the right questions. But unless the Leader has the right people on board, he can’t

execute the strategy. Organizations need to get the right talent, and the leaders need

to ensure that it’s positioned appropriately throughout your organization–and this

is a constantly evolving process.

The skill sets the leaders need and the places in the organization where the men

and women best fit will change as the environment and competition shift and new

opportunities arise.

As an educator myself, I feel I’m in a very privileged position. We really do

get to touch the future, and I am inspired by the late author/educator Neil Postman

who says ‘our children are the messages we send to the future that we will never

see', and I really want that message to be that ‘we cared.’ To reach our goal and to

make our dreams come true we have to follow Steve Jobs who says - “Your time is

limited, don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma,

which is living the result of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s

opinion drowned your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to

follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want

to become. Everything else is secondary.”

ALL THE BEST…

Page 94: Ripples Edition-II

THE FINISHING SCHOOL

Engineering graduates are expected to be employable and ready for the work place

when they finish their studies. It is generally expected that the graduates should be

equipped with a balance of technical skills in addition to the relevant “soft skills”

required in the work place. The ground reality is that most of the graduates passing

out of various engineering institutes all over India do not meet the industry

employability standards. In order to meet this deficit a particular pedagogical

system has evolved I.T finishing schools. These institutes enables the entry-level

graduate engineer by providing critical skill sets, here people who leave

professional educational institutions can work towards accessing the skill required

to get into the industry.

Current Scenario

The current educational system does not equip the student with the desired

knowledge and skill set needed to excel in practical- professional life. At present

the fresh graduate student is hired and then trained during their induction either

through product oriented training program or through in- house training program.

In-house training programs are limited to basic orientation as vendor based training

programs are expansive. Finishing School is a new concept in which curriculum is

developed for students to prepare them for requirements of industries. The

finishing school aims to provide skills both technical and soft skills to people to

facilitate their employability and play a part in the supply side issues (of talent) of

the industry.

Page 95: Ripples Edition-II

The Need

The Industry sees the fresh graduate as one, needing a “sound base of mathematics

and engineering technology” also must be equipped as communicators, with a

broad understanding of, and ability to interact in the broader society in which their

profession operates.

Employer Satisfaction with Graduate Skills, in particular notes the following “skill

deficiencies in new graduates: Creativity and flair, oral business communication

and problem solving. An independent study conducted on CEOs, found that long-

term job success depends75 percent on people skills and only 25 percent on

technical knowledge. Another study reveals that 85 percent of jobs and

promotions happened because of the candidate’s attitude and only 15percent due to

the facts and figures he packed under his belt.

Financial services firms in India are experiencing difficulties in recruiting the right

people with the right skills, and that a “soft skills gap” is making itself increasingly

apparent. This report attempts to highlight the gaps and provide direction for

employers and educators looking to bridge this gap between the expectations of the

financial sector and the current talent availability.

The urgency of the need for inculcating good soft skills can be understood from

various surveys conducted recently which concluded that presently only 15 to 20

percent engineering and other graduates being churned out every year in India

were employable in the IT industry. Sadly, of the large number most are unsuitable

because of lack of soft skills.

The concept of Finishing School programme is a pre-employment training

programmes for graduating students from Engineering/ Polytechnic Colleges

offering different specializations to cater to the needs of different

industries.Finishing School is a supplementary training school that attempts to

make-up for deficiencies of students providing The Finishing School aims to

provide skills both in technical and soft skills to students to facilitate their

employability and play a part in the supply side issues of the industry.

The aim is to “sharpen some of the social, presentation and communication skills

in which many Indian engineers are found wanting when they interact with clients

and colleagues from other cultures

Finishing School is needed to bridg the gap that existing between the needs of the

industry and the academic curricula. Through Finishing School, the students will

get an opportunity to acquire and reinforce industry-specific knowledge, skills and

competencies delivered by trained faculty and practicing managers from the

industry.

Page 96: Ripples Edition-II

OBJECTIVES

• To enhance the employability of engineering students.

• To enhance the standard of fresh engineering graduates so that

they become acceptable to the industry.

• To cater to the needs of the industry.

• To create a platform where the students can work towards

accessing the skills required to get into industry.

• To bridge the gap between industry and educational institutions.

• To provide both technical and soft skill to people to facilitate their

employability.

• To meet the needs of unemployed and non-employable

engineering graduates and to improve their communication as

well as I.T. skills.

• To reinforce the students skills and acquire industry–specific

knowledge from trained faculty and experts from industries.

• To offer suitable candidates to different industries.

• To help young graduates to find jobs through appropriate training.

SPHOORTHY FINISHING SCHOOL

Career planning needs a scientific approach to get success. Sphoorthy strongly

believes that students are to be moulded and shaped through a systematic approach

on the line of Finishing School concept. While pursuing their programme, they will

undergo competency mapping and development process to be prepared for entry to

their dream career.

Sphoorthy has lunched the much awaited Finishing School. The school is

benchmarked according the present ability of our professional students and

enabling them with the required expertise on corporate code of conduct and

business etiquettes. This Finishing School conducts Power Packed Personality

Placement Grooming Module (4PGM) for all the students to shape them as

professionals.

Page 97: Ripples Edition-II

Its high time that companies also got involved in the education scenario. The

curriculum and the examination system is controlled by a lobby of text book

publishers and university staff.

The finishing school concept bridges the gap between the generic and concept-

oriented university education and the market demand for application-ready

software professionals. It would result in enormous savings for the software

company. A company like Tata Consultancy Services spends Rs 8 crore annually

on training engineers before getting them started on projects. On an average around

six months is spent on training new recruits

Need for Finishing School

Finishing School is needed to bridge the gap that existing between the needs of the

industry and the academic curricula. Through Finishing School, the students will

get an

opportunity to acquire and reinforce industry-specific knowledge, skills and

competencies delivered by trained faculty and practicing managers from I.T. &

ITES (I.T. Enabled Services) industry. Especially the fast growing I.T. sector has

created a huge career opportunity in its wake. The profiles of the career

opportunities keep dynamically changing as newer and newer technologies emerge

and the global market requirements change. The formal education focuses on the

fundamentals, concepts in different subjects and brings out with excellent basics

and strong foundation over which the super structure could be built.

However, the need and demand placed by the fast technological changes and

the

emerging global market trends that are making the growth of I.T. industry brings

out the

demand for complementing and supplementing the formal education through the

non formal education and training. Hence, the need is in the form of “Finishing

School” for

training the students, faculty and even working professionals to keep pace with the

demands of the industry as well as technological changes.

Page 98: Ripples Edition-II

Facilities

The Finishing School, the concept is that learning and development happens best in

an environment, which supports it. Given this belief, the school offers to its

student’s best in class facilities as they learn and grow.

• A fully structured building, along with state of the art infrastructure, is combined

to create a platform providing functional suitability and personal comfort.

• A well-equipped computer lab enables the students to take learning from the

classroom to the World Wide Web and study and practice through self – learning

tools.

• A large multimedia Audio Visual Theater creates just the right ambience for large

group activities and Industry talks and events.

• A fully functional cafeteria makes sure that while the school takes care of food

for

thought, students have access to hygienic food options in the premises itself.

• All students will be provided with the requisite course material for the program

enrolled. A library facility is also available for adding to the learning and

development activity.

Practices followed at the Finishing School

• Benchmarking of the course syllabus with that of the requirements of IT

companies to find what is lacking and appropriately modifying the content.

• Syllabus audit by working senior software professionals to find the areas for

further improvements

• Using tools like video conferencing for delivering quality by industry experts

from different parts of the globe to a large number of students.

• Infrastructure ensuring smooth functioning of the school- PCs, LAN, Internet,

LCD, over head projectors etc. for use by faculty and students.

• Orientation for faculty to ensure compatibility with latest development tools and

methodologies

ANECDOTES

1. ALBERT EINSTEIN

Einstein was once travelling from Princeton on a train when the conductor came

down the aisle, punching the tickets of every passenger. When he came to Einstein,

Einstein reached in his vest pocket. He couldn't find his ticket, so he reached in his

trouser pockets. It wasn't there, so he looked in his briefcase but couldn't find it.

Then he looked in the seat beside him. He still couldn't find it.

The conductor said, 'Dr. Einstein, I know who you are. We all know who you are.

I'm sure you bought a ticket. Don't worry about it.'

Einstein nodded appreciatively. The conductor continued down the aisle punching

tickets. As he was ready to move to the next car, he turned around and saw the

great physicist down on his hands and knees looking under his seat for his ticket.

The conductor rushed back and said, 'Dr. Einstein, Dr. Einstein, don't worry, I

know who you are. No problem. You don't need a ticket. I'm sure you bought one.'

Einstein looked at him and said, 'Young man, I too, know who I am. What I don't

know is where I'm going.'

Page 104: Ripples Edition-II

2. RABINDRANATH TAGORE

Once, Mahatma Gandhi was visiting Tagore .He had gone there to give a public

talk. Afterwards, he spent time with Tagore, discussing topics of interest to both of

them . Following lunch, Gandhi went to take rest when some of the ashram

workers, followers of Tagore, approached him.

"Can you help us, Gandhiji? they asked. "What is it?" asked the Mahatma. "We are

worried about the health of Rabindranath Tagore," they explained. "He is not

keeping good health. The doctors advised him to take rest, but he refuses. After

lunch, he immediately goes back to work and does not take a moment's rest. We do

not want his health to fail." Gandhi asked, "Why do you want me to tell him to

rest?" They replied, "We know he will not go against your advice."

After Gandhi had rested awhile, he went to Tagore's residence and saw that he was

deeply immersed in his work. When Tagore looked up and saw Gandhi standing

there he asked him, "Are you not comfortable that you have come out from your

rest so soon?"

Gandhi replied: "I have come to ask you to take rest after your lunch so your health

does not fail. You are not keeping fit these days."

Tagore replied: "How can I do that? I must tell you the truth so that you will

understand. When I was 12 I took a vow never to rest at any time during the day

for any reason. Up to now I have kept that vow. How many more years do I have

to live? Why would I break that vow now?"

Tagore's firm determination and commitment to his promise moved Gandhi. For 67

years Tagore had never rested during the day. Gandhi was impressed by his

commitment to his goal and told him, "Now I know the secret of your success!"

3. SWAMI VIVEKANANDA

Once, Swami Vivekananda was travelling in a train to attend a meeting. As always,

Swamiji's attire consisted of a saffron robe and turban. On seeing this attire, a co-

passenger who did not know anything about Swamiji, took him to be a normal one,

started commenting about his attire.

He even hurled abuses at Swamiji, but Swamiji, with a compassionate heart filled

with unconditional love towards all, never minded about the brickbats being fired

at him. He kept on looking at the co-passenger with a beaming smile on his face.

Page 105: Ripples Edition-II

At the same time, Swamiji was feeling hungry as he had nothing in the morning.

Now, the station had finally come for Swamiji and he got down from the train and

sat on a chair in the railway station exactly in front of the compartment in which he

travelled as he was completely tired and exhausted. As soon as Swamiji sat on the

chair, he heard a man calling out, "Who is Swami Vivekananda?" loudly time and

again. Then Swamiji called him and asked what the matter was. That man's eyes

were filled with tears and he immediately fell down at the feet of swamiji and told

him that he got a dream in which he was ordered by "The God" to go and feed his

child named Swami Vivekananda as he is very hungry and has not had anything

right from the morning. He brought along with him the food and served him with

genuine love.

On seeing this, that co-passenger came out running from the train and fell down at

the feet of Swamiji with tears in his eyes, asking for forgiveness for the disrespect

he had shown to Swamiji who is a blessed soul and who is taken care of by none

other than "The God" himself.

From Candles to Soap In 1879, Procter and Gamble's best seller was candles. But the company was in

trouble. Thomas Edison had invented the light bulb, and it looked as if candles

would become obsolete. Their fears became reality when the market for candles

plummeted since they were now sold only for-special occasions.

The outlook appeared to be bleak for Procter and Gamble. However, at this time, it

seemed that destiny played a dramatic part in pulling the struggling company from

the clutches of bankruptcy. A forgetful employee at a small factory in Cincinnati

forgot to turn off his machine when he went to lunch. The result? A frothing mass

of lather filled with air bubbles. He almost threw the stuff away but instead decided

to make it into soap. The soap floated. Thus, Ivory soap was born and became the

mainstay of the Procter and Gamble Company.

Why was soap that floats such a hot item at that time? In Cincinnati, during that

period, some people bathed in the Ohio River. Floating soap would never sink and

consequently never got lost. So, Ivory soap became a best seller in Ohio and

eventually across the country also.

Like Procter and Gamble, never give up when things go wrong or when seemingly

unsurmountable problems arise. Creativity put to work can change a problem and

turn it into a gold mine.

Page 106: Ripples Edition-II

To Build a Bridge The Brooklyn Bridge that spans the river tying Manhattan Island to Brooklyn is

truly a miracle bridge. In 1863, a creative engineer named John Roebling was

inspired by an idea for this spectacular bridge. However, bridge-building experts

throughout the world told him to forget it; it could not be done.

Roebling convinced his son, Washington, who was a young upand coming

engineer, that the bridge could be built. The two of them developed the concepts of

how it could be accomplished and how the obstacles could be overcome. With un

harnessed excitement and inspiration, they hired their crew and began to build their

dream bridge.

The project was only a few months under construction when a tragic accident on

the site took the life of John Roebling and severely injured his son, Washington.

Washington was left with permanent brain damage and was unable to talk or walk.

Everyone felt that the project would have to be scrapped since the Roeblings were

the only ones who knew how the bridge could be built.

Even though Washington was unable to move or talk, his mind was as sharp as

ever, and he still had a burning desire to complete the bridge. An idea hit him as he

lay in his hospital bed, and he developed a code for communication. All he could

move was one finger, so he touched the arm of his wife with that finger, tapping

out the code to communicate to her what to tell the engineers who were building

the bridge. For thirteen years, Washington tapped out his instructions with his

finger until the spectacular Brooklyn Bridge was finally completed.

THE IMPORTANCE OF GOAL SETTING

Recently, there was a young man who graduated from college and decided to

seek employment. He hoped to find a job somewhere away from his home

town. He walked into the local bus station, approached the ticket counter and

asked the clerk for a bus ticket. What do you suppose the ticket clerk asked

the young man? He said, "Where do you want to go?" The young man said,

"I don't know. Just give me a ticket to somewhere." He didn't get a ticket!

The moral of the story is that if you don't know where you are going, any

road will take you there. Jim Cathcart, a noted professional speaker, once

said, "Most people aim at nothing in life and hit it with amazing accuracy."

Page 107: Ripples Edition-II

If we don't specify exactly what we want, we have no reason to complain

about what we get or where we find ourselves.

In her article "Success and the Goal Setter," Bettie B. Youngs tells us,

"Goals represent expectations, hopes and dreams, and to the extent our goals

are achieved, we are successful." The following ideas will help you define

and establish realistic goals in your life. By setting and achieving

worthwhile goals, you can give your life greater meaning and purpose. You

will also find your work and personal life more exciting and fulfilling.

Goal Setting Guidelines 1.Your goal must be conceivable. You must be able to imagine,

conceptualize and understand the goal or desired result. Top athletes practice

visualizing step-by-step actual success in their sports competition. By

visualizing your success in great detail, you are conditioning your mind and

preparing yourself to achieve your desired success.

2.Make your goal believable. Your goal should be consistent with your

personal values system, and you must believe you can reach the goal. It is

critically important that you believe in yourself. You must see yourself with

the goal in hand.

3.Your goal must be achievable. You must have the mental and physical

capacity to reach the goal. It would, however, be important for your goal to

cause you to stretch beyond normal self-imposed limits. You will find a goal

that causes you to stretch and grow will be the goal that gives you the most

satisfaction. Don't be afraid to challenge yourself to go beyond old limits!

4.Make your goal measurable. Deciding to do better than last year or to be

happy gives you no standard by which you can measure progress. Be sure to

relate your goal to quantity, percentage increases, dollar volume, time or

distance. This will allow you to measure your progress.

1.Your goal must be truly desirable. A goal that you really want, one that

will be emotionally satisfying, will make you strive harder to achieve that

goal. You will also feel better about yourself and the goal will be worth your

time and effort. The emotional power of really wanting a new car, beautiful

home or job promotion, will cause you to work harder to reach the goal.

2.Make your goal growth facilitating. Your goal should provide you with

a real challenge. This will help you feel better about yourself when you

actually reach your goal. Be sure your goal is beneficial, not destructive to

yourself or others.

When you set a goal, does it satisfy all of the above guidelines? If it does,

you will be more likely to achieve success and will be more satisfied with

your accomplishments! How does your goal help you personally? Most

people find that a goal generates enthusiasm, gives meaning and purpose,

Page 108: Ripples Edition-II

and provides direction. I believe that a goal accomplishes all of these

objectives plus gives focus to your thoughts.

Personally Paying The Price Why should you write down your goal? A written goal represents a real

commitment. Without a commitment, a goal is only a dream. A dream is

something we would like to have happen, but are unwilling to pay the price

to make it happen. Any worthwhile goal has its price! That price may be

confronting a personal fear or investing a certain amount of time and effort.

Whatever the goal is, if it's worthwhile, you can bet there will be a price for

achieving it.

One way to motivate yourself to pay the price is to create a reward for

reaching your goal. That reward can be a vacation or time off work, a nice

dinner, a bottle of wine or time spent with friends. If you select a reward,

you can focus on the reward rather than fear of failure in striving for the

goal. If reaching the goal requires performing some tedious or boring tasks,

having a reward in mind will give you something positive to focus on. Think

about the fun just around the bend.

Additional suggestions when selecting and striving towards personal and

corporate goals:

1.Select a goal for the right reason. Choose a goal that makes you happy, not

because it makes your boss or your spouse happy. Be sure that reaching your goal

will help satisfy your needs.

2.Keep a copy of your goal plan in sight and refer to it often. This will help you

concentrate on results, rather than on activities. It will also provide a constant

reminder and help motivate you to the goal.

3.While approaching the completion of a major goal, begin formulating

another important goal. Goals are like foundation-building blocks. Each goal

provides the strength and direction necessary to help you attain the next highest

goal. Every time you attain a goal you gain personal pride and self esteem. This

increased confidence and more positive attitude will enable you to more eagerly

approach your next challenge or opportunity.

How do you see unexpected road blocks on the path to each of your goals? Do you

perceive each road block as a problem? Do you see it as an opportunity to test your

skills and to learn? My running experience taught me I must learn from each

setback. It's usually easier to quit than it is to go on. By forcing yourself to persist

until you reach your goal, you build greater character.

By building your character and adding in persistence, tenacity and determination,

you can reach any worthwhile goal. Go for it!

IMPORTANCE OF TIME MANAGEMENT

It is rightly said “Time and Tide wait for none”. An individual should understand

the value of time for him to succeed in all aspects of life. People who waste time

are the ones who fail to create an identity of their own.

WHAT IS TIME MANAGEMENT ?

Time Management refers to managing time effectively so that the right time is

allocated to the right activity.

Effective time management allows individuals to assign specific time slots

to activities as per their importance.

Time Management refers to making the best use of time as time is always

limited.

Ask yourself which activity is more important and how much time should be

allocated to the same? Know which work should be done earlier and which

can be done a little later.

Time Management plays a very important role not only in organizations but also in

our personal lives.

Time Management includes:

i. Effective Planning

ii. Setting goals and objectives

iii. Setting deadlines

iv. Delegation of responsibilities

v. Prioritizing activities as per their importance

vi. Spending the right time on the right activity

EFFECTIVE PLANNING

Plan your day well in advance. Prepare a To Do List or a “TASK PLAN”.

Jot down the important activities that need to be done in a single day against

the time that should be allocated to each activity. High Priority work should

come on top followed by those which do not need much of your importance

Page 110: Ripples Edition-II

at the moment. Complete pending tasks one by one. Do not begin fresh work

unless you have finished your previous task. Tick the ones you have already

completed. Ensure you finish the tasks within the stipulated time frame.

SETTING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Working without goals and targets in an organization would be similar to a

situation where the captain of the ship loses his way in the sea. Yes, you

would be lost. Set targets for yourself and make sure they are realistic ones

and achievable.

SETTING DEADLINES

Set deadlines for yourself and strive hard to complete tasks ahead of the

deadlines. Do not wait for your superiors to ask you everytime. Learn to take

ownership of work. One person who can best set the deadlines is you

yourself. Ask yourself how much time needs to be devoted to a particular

task and for how many days. Use a planner to mark the important dates

against the set deadlines.

DELEGATION OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Learn to say “NO” at workplace. Don’t do everything on your own. There

are other people as well. One should not accept something which he knows

is difficult for him. The roles and responsibilities must be delegated as per

interest and specialization of employees for them to finish tasks within

deadlines. A person who does not have knowledge about something needs

more time than someone who knows the work well.

PRIORITIZING TASKS

Prioritize the tasks as per their importance and urgency. Know the difference

between important and urgent work. Identify which tasks should be done

within a day, which all should be done within a month and so on. Tasks

which are most important should be done earlier.

SPENDING THE RIGHT TIME ON RIGHT ACTIVITY

Page 111: Ripples Edition-II

Develop the habit of doing the right thing at the right time. Work done at the

wrong time is not of much use. Don’t waste a complete day on something

which can be done in an hour or so. Also keep some time separate for your

personal calls or checking updates on Facebook or Twitter. After all human

being is not a machine.

For Effective Time Management one needs to be:

Organized - Avoid keeping stacks of file and heaps of paper at your workstation.

Throw what all you don’t need. Put important documents in folders. Keep the files

in their respective drawers with labels on top of each file. It saves time which goes

on unnecessary searching.

Don’t misuse time - Do not kill time by loitering or gossiping around. Concentrate

on your work and finish assignments on time. Remember your organization is not

paying you for playing games on computer or peeping into other’s cubicles. First

complete your work and then do whatever you feel like doing. Don’t wait till the

last moment.

Be Focussed - One needs to be focused for effective time management.Develop

the habit of using planners, organizers, table top calendars for better time

management. Set reminders on phones or your personal computers.

NON VERBAL COMMUNICATION SIGNIFICANCE

It is quite usual to forget about many aspects of non-verbal communication when

hearing this notion. In fact, what comes to mind immediately are body gestures or

facial expressions. However, there are many more aspects.

Non-verbal communication consists of all the messages other than words that are

used in communication. In oral communication, these symbolic messages are

transferred by means of intonation, tone of voice, vocally produced noises, body

posture, body gestures, facial expressions or pauses

When individuals speak, they normally do not confine themselves to the mere

emission of words. A great deal of meaning is conveyed by non-verbal means

which always accompany oral discourse – intended or not. In other words, a

Page 112: Ripples Edition-II

spoken message is always sent on two levels simultaneously, verbal and non-

verbal.

From the speaker’s point of view, however, there are numerous functions of non-

verbal behaviour – even if he or she is not aware of them. Human beings use non-

verbal means to persuade or to control others, to clarify or embellish things, to

stress, complement, regulate and repeat verbal expressions. They can also be used

to substitute verbal expression, as this is the case with several body gestures . Non-

verbal communication is emotionally expressive and so any discourse appealing to

the receiver’s emotions has a persuasive impact.

Although many non-verbal means are innate and universal, (i.e. people in different

cultures have a common understanding of these cues), the contribution of non-

verbal communication to the total meaning of a discourse can be culturally

determined and differ in different countries

The transfer of non-verbal elements from the interpreter to the audience

As mentioned above, non-verbal communication is emotionally expressive as

people from all cultures smile, cry, caress, or then repress their emotions through

body or facial action. Many emotional expressions seem to be displayed

universally. However, non-verbal behaviour varies from culture to culture, which

means it is specific to each culture and may be interpreted differently.

What reactions do these non-verbal elements evoke among an audience when

being transferred by an interpreter? Referring to the examples of non-verbal

communication listed in chapter 3, the following text deals with the transfer and

reception of such elements with special regard to cultural characteristics.

5.1. Intonation Ideally, interpreters should reproduce the same intonation as the speaker. However,

intonation is not always used correctly. For instance, the fact that simultaneous

interpreters do not know how the speaker is going to proceed in his or her speech

may lead the interpreters’ intonation to indicate their state of expectation. In that

case, the voice tends to go up at the end of a sentence. In many languages, a rising

intonation is a sign of surprise or a question, but when being used systematically

by the interpreter it becomes very difficult for the audience to listen and understand

where sentences begin and end, or to distinguish what is affirmative and what is

interrogative.

Furthermore, interpreters should not emphasize words where there is no need for it.

Especially in rather vacuous texts, the actual emptiness of the text is highlighted by

stressing too many words and the interpreter will come across as a poor public

speaker.

Page 113: Ripples Edition-II

5.2. Tone of voice The interpreters’ choice of the adequate tone of voice can give rise to serious

problems. They can only be guided, in each case, by their tact and intuition. For

example, an overreaction to being under pressure might manifest itself by an

exaggerated attempt to sound calm. This can lead to a monotonous interpretation

that sounds totally bored or even supercilious and will probably fail to

communicate, as it might be rather irritating for the audience.

5.3. Vocally produced noises Some speakers make often use of vocally produced noises such as “eh” when they

hesitate between two words or two sentences. Yet the interpreters should bear in

mind that the use of these noises is not allowed in all languages. Therefore, they

should only transmit what is part of the message.

5.4. Body posture The simultaneous interpreters might not be able to reproduce the speaker’s body

postures (for example, due to the positioning of the booth) whereas interpreters that

are visible to the audience may do so. However, one must take into account that the

audience usually looks at the speaker while listening to a simultaneous

interpretation. In this case, there is a rather small need for the interpreter for

transferring body gestures.

5.5. Body gestures Body gestures can only be transferred if the interpreter is visible for the audience.

Body gestures vary considerably according to cultural regions. A speaker, for

example, agrees on a proposal - which is reproduced by the simultaneous

interpreter - but shakes his or her head several times. This might be a sign of

consent in the speaker’s culture. However, a European audience will consider this

gesture as a sign of refusal and is probably confused not knowing, which

information might be correct – the positive one (by the interpreter) or the apparent

negative one (visually). If the simultaneous interpreters could express themselves

visually, they would support the verbal reproduction of consent by nodding their

head.

It is generally not recommended that interpreters imitate or exaggerate (striking)

gestures as they run the risk to make fools of themselves.

5.6. Facial expressions and eye movement Likewise, body gestures, facial expressions and eye movement differ from culture

to culture. A speaker from a far Eastern country may report on a rather depressing

subject but at the same time may be smiling or even laughing. Consequently, a

European audience will be puzzled by these apparent contradictions. Once again,

simultaneous interpreters are limited in their opportunities of cultural transfer for

they cannot communicate visually in their booth and clarify the situation.

Page 114: Ripples Edition-II

5.7. Pause Appropriate pauses do add to the meaning of a speech and give interpreters time to

gather their thoughts in order to provide a better interpretation. However, some

interpreters may feel under pressure to keep up a continuous flow of sound. The

interpreters think the audience will become impatient and lose confidence in them

because the hearers seem to be missing something. Indeed, there are some people

who encourage this belief, who turn round and frown or make gestures indicating

they feel their headphones are no longer working if they do not hear something for

a few seconds.

Conclusion

Non-verbal communication is not only crucial in a plain daily communication

situation but also for the interpreter. Non-verbal communication can take various

forms, each of which illustrates or replaces a certain part of the verbal

communication. It includes many more elements than one might think at first.

When interpreters are in a working situation where the audience will not see them,

non-verbal communication can represent a problem. The audience might even be

tempted to believe that the interpreters have not done a good job.

In order to be able to work properly, interpreters need to make sense of non-verbal

cues. This is only possible because a special part of our brain deals with the

emotional part of the message. Not only intelligence but also emotional

intelligence is needed for interpreting non-verbal elements.

Whether non-verbal communication supports the interpreters in their task or

presents a difficulty, it will always play an important role.

THE PERCEPTION OF SELFISHNESS

People will question your propriety if you call Selfishness a virtue. It just does not

conform to their conventionally accepted moral standards. Primevally, the usual

disposition of society is to loathe and despise those people who are concerned

chiefly or only with themselves and their own advantage. This distorted perception

of selfishness is entrenched in the society to such an extent that even in popular

fiction many a number of the antagonists are portrayed as selfish individuals

(Think of Ebenezer Scrooge from Dickens’s A Christmas Carol and Shylock from

Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice.) In the end, inevitably, they either die a

miserable death or if the author is kind enough, they turn into adorable altruists.

Right from the childhood, all of us were taught that to be selfish is something very

improper and morally incorrect. And yet, I think that selfishness is a virtue. I don’t

feel that it would be too audacious to add that, even you will be thinking the same,

by the time you finish reading this.

Before I begin my endeavors to convince you of its virtuousness, allow me to

clearly define the quality of being selfish. Being Selfish means being concerned

with one's own interests. It means, taking credit to your deeds, whether good or

bad, and not letting that credit to be bestowed on people who do not deserve it.

Being selfish means, not letting your hard-earned wealth, may it be in the form of

money, knowledge, a skill or in any other kind, to pass into other’s hands except

when convinced that the value of your wealth will be enhanced. This, but nothing

else, is what being selfish means.

Now, let us see what selfishness is NOT. If the deeds of a person, through which

he intends to profit, are in any way inimical to the interests of his peers, then he

cannot be described as selfish, he is but a reprobate. If an individual desires

something, to which he is not the rightful owner, and if he tries to steal that

something, rather than working hard to win it, then he is not selfish. He is but a

thief and a miscreant.

There is a primordial misconception in the society that a successful individual, who

was able to amass some wealth by the means of his skill and hard-work, is bound

Page 116: Ripples Edition-II

to share his wealth with those needy and unlucky ones .The age-old societal hatred

towards selfishness and selfish people finds its roots in this misconception. If an

affluent gentleman, who had inherited his riches (of which he has no right to hold)

from his ancestors, gives away his properties as philanthropic gift, people around

him will readily glorify his deeds, deify his persona and sing encomiums about

him. He may even be apotheosized. On the other hand, if a man who had earned

each and every piece of his property by sheer hard-work and perseverance,

declines to contribute his share to charity he will be subjected to harsh criticism

and will become a victim of harangue. Isn’t this unjust?

One might argue that it is the responsibility of the rich to provide opportunities for

the poor to fight the world and earn their living. If a rich businessman starts

recruiting people who are in need of a job (rather than hiring those people, of

whom his firm is in need of) to provide chances to others to become rich, soon he

himself will be left penniless; on the other hand if he doesn’t do what the society

demands him to, he will forever be labeled as being selfish and will be heartily

hated and condemned to rot in hell. Isn’t this so unfair?

At this moment, billionaires-turned-philanthropists such as Bill Gates and Warren

Buffet may come to your mind. Theirs is a different case altogether. If it pleases

them to contribute for charity, then so be it. They are doing it voluntarily. Mind

you, those two gentlemen, and others like them, are not spending their wealth on

some mindless activities such as sending used-toys and out-dated jeans to African

kids, but their money is being invested in some worthy projects such as invention

of vaccines for deadly diseases and innovative technologies for agriculture in poor

nations.

All of us agree that it is a crime to enjoy something which belongs to someone

else. Then, by the same argument isn’t it a crime to demand the wealth of others

and to call them names, when they decline to comply. For instance, every now and

then we hear that workers of some factory or employees of some institution

demand for bonus wages. When their employers do not comply with their wishes

they go on a strike and impinge the functioning of their institution. Their actions

lead to a lose-lose situation where nobody benefits. As a matter of fact, they have

Page 117: Ripples Edition-II

no right to demand a bonus, they are being paid for their jobs, if they feel that they

being underpaid or exploited, they are free to quit. In-fact they have no good

reason to ask for extra payments.

If the employer becomes vexed with this attitude of his employees, he will simply

sack the whole lot of them and recruit more competent and reasonable people.

Let us look at another example, a situation which most of us can identify with. A

student works hard and completes an assignment in time, while others in his peer

group fail to do so owing to their laziness. On the next day the diligent student is

overwhelmed by earnest pleas to let the others copy his assignment. But he will not

allow them to do that because, his assignment, however insignificant it is to others,

is very important to him as he had worked very hard to complete it. This student

will be ostracized by his peers as a reward for his tenacity. But at the end of the

year this student will be rewarded with a distinction while the others are not.

Above two scenarios underscore two important things. One is that, without hard-

work success will not be yours. The other thing, and the more important one, is

that being selfish is essential to become successful. Because, if you don’t work

hard enough you cannot achieve what you want to, and if you are not selfish

enough, people around you are ready to snatch from you what you have achieved.

I have no qualms in being selfish, because I want to be successful in life, and

because I do not wish my work to serve the interests of no other person, save my

own. Even now, if you feel that to be selfish is a sin, then so be it. But, don’t

lament when you see one of your rivals taking the trophy for a marathon which you

have won.

THE BENEFITS OF BEING A BIBLIOPHILE

Ever since alphabetical writing emerged in Egypt 5000 years ago, people started

recording their thoughts, ideas and opinions on every material that could be used

for writing. Ancient Egyptians and Greeks used papyrus, a thick paper-

Page 118: Ripples Edition-II

like material made from plant-extracts. This was soon replaced by parchment,

which was made by treating animal skins. Vedic Indians used dried palm tree

leaves to write, while Chinese used thin slices of bamboo sticks for the same

purpose. People of these antediluvian civilizations thus began to preserve their

knowledge on scrolls, manuscripts and on various other materials, whichever best

suited them. After a few generations, their treasure of knowledge became large and

their scrolls and manuscripts grew significantly in size: then they became Books.

So, why did our progenitors take such pains to preserve their knowledge? The

answer is quite simple; to save their descendents from the difficulty of learning

everything from scratch, and thereby facilitating the intellectual evolution of the

mankind. Books played a remarkable role in that processes.

Books remain faithful friends to scholars and scientists and assist them in

postulating their theories and doctrines. Books acted as a medium for leaders and

statesmen to convey their messages to the masses and stir revolutions in their

respective nations, for the greater good of their people. Books written by

philosophers changed perspectives of a generation of men. And yet, youngsters

these days fail to realize the significance and importance of books in the history of

mankind and turn a deaf ear to earnest pleas from elders to cultivate the habit of

book reading. But I am sure, once they are acquainted with the benefits of book

reading, they will no longer need an stimulating factor to turn them into avid

readers. Now, in my following lines, I try to present you the benefits of being a

bibliophile-a book lover.

The prominence of communication skills and language skills in today’s

competitive world is far too much to ignore, anyone who lacks in those skills,

however talented one may be in one’s trade, will definitely lag behind others in this

fast-paced world. Now, what if I tell you that reading books helps you in

improving those vital skills? Yes, it is true! For instance, English Grammar is a

tough nut to crack for many students. If you start studying grammar as a part of

your academics, you will only find out that it made grammar more difficult that it

already was. Instead, try reading books, books of any kind, if you retain this habit

of reading for some time, you will amazed to discover that your grammar has

improved remarkably. And on top of that you will also find out that you have

acquired a new skill to write in a well structured manner. Just try it!

Page 119: Ripples Edition-II

Writers of fiction shape the characters in their stories based on real-life individuals,

so as to make sure that these characters respond to various situations in the plot just

as real-life humans do, and behave accordingly. Reading their works will help us in

understanding the behavioral patterns of different people around us. This may

sound incredible and a tad far-fetched, but it is true. For instance, every now and

then we come across a cantankerous old lady, or an annoying six year old toddler.

We simply cannot understand why that old lady is always so angry or why this

little boy is always so noisy and rambunctious. If you really want to know why

people behave as they do, you need to read a lot. And when I say reading, I don’t

mean reading those bulky books on human psychology. Any simple novel by

Dickens or Twain will do. You may ask, why would anyone be interested in

understanding the behaviors of people around? I will answer that for you. But

before that, try to remember how many friendships you and people around you

have lost, owing to silly misunderstandings and petty fights, think of those

marriages which failed because of some frivolous arguments. Don’t you think that

these ridiculous fall-outs of our precious human relationships can be avoided if

everyone of us has a better understanding of each other or at least we know how

different people behave in different scenarios? And all we need to do, to make

ourselves familiar with that seemingly complex aspect of life, is just to read a good

number of light-hearted novels and delightful short stories.

Some serious books such as ‘Atlas Shrugged’ by Ayn Rand or ‘1984’ by George

Orwell, will give you a new perspective on certain things in life. Things which you

have held in high regard all your life will suddenly seem nonsensical and

preposterous. After reading such books you will realize that there are several ways

of perceiving any given issue, and each person, irrespective of the stand he had

taken on that issue, will feel righteous about his opinion. Once you understand this

fact, you will learn to respect your fellow human, his opinions, his emotions, his

beliefs and his reasons for behaving in the way he does. To sum up, readings such

books will turn you into a gentleman.

Reading, for me, is an excellent pastime. I love to sit on my couch; by the window

of my bed-room and read a refreshing short story or a thrilling mystery. Any time

during the day, irrespective of the weather outside, one can enjoy a book. Do you

know that exquisite pleasure which fills your mind when one completes reading a

Page 120: Ripples Edition-II

Romance? Or, are you aware of that seething anger which one experiences when

reading about the spiteful acts of an antagonist in a story. If your answer is a No,

then you are missing something very beautiful in your life. To compensate for the

joy which you have already lost during the past few your life and to enjoy the

pleasures of reading, go grab a nice book now. Characters from popular books are

keen to become your friends and several genres are waiting to be explored!

Before we part, be kind enough and allow me to offer you a humble and friendly

advice: Don’t ever be influenced by what you read, for you will be left with no

thoughts or ideas which you can claim as your own, if you allow a book to cast the

shadow of its influence upon your soul. Instead, try only to understand what the

book had to say, gather all the information that you can from that book. Then, use

your instincts to analyze the content of the book. Finally, form a balanced opinion

about the book, or rather about its content. But make sure that your opinion is not

too rigid, because soon you may come across another book which may try to

convince you to change your views.

When I found you I found me I was no longer alone I was put together There were no missing pieces We were the perfect puzzle On lookers envied what we had We had so many beautiful memories That they're not even possible to forget That part of my life was my life The life I loved Then I lost you somewhere Along the way There were no fights or disagreements Our puzzle just broke Piece by piece it fell apart Soon it disappeared I've tried to get it back I've done everything The pieces of the puzzle Just don't fit together any more I found your pieces reconnecting With new pieces My pieces were left torn and shattered Alone in there box I just want one last look at that beautiful puzzle we shared Even thought it won't help me get over the pain The pain that has ruled my life for months

I just cant close the cover to that puzzle box

ENGLISH-THE TRICKIEST LANGUAGE

Well,

begin with a box and the plural is boxes.

but the plural of ox should be oxen but not oxes.

Then,

one fowl is goose but two are geese.

Yet,

BUILD FROM THE BOTTOM

All the times there is a current pet idea, about which we find a general enthusiasm

.Today such an idea is building or rather rebuilding: rebuilding Andhra Pradesh or

Maharashtra or rebuilding India .But, as in the case of every pet and general or

popular idea., we are not very clear about the idea of rebuilding .So, in spite of

rebuilding, there is wide divergence as regards the final shape of things we want

as also the method .

But, if we sift carefully all the ideas about this idea of rebuilding one thing

becomes clear that all enthusiasm will end in smoke unless we all agree on one

point .This is:

We must start rebuilding from bottom .All edifice will ultimately crumble down

unless built on a strong foundation on rock, not on sand, to remember the good

advice of Krishna.

Such a rock-bottom is provided by human character and character alone of

individuals making the Indian nation and in the process rebuilding her national

character, character provides man with two main qualities: one for dealing with

himself and the other to deal with others. One is purity and the other is morality. It

is good to remember while we have the enthusiasm for rebuilding, a few words of

Swami Vivekananda: The basis of all systems, social or political, resets upon the

goodness of man. No nation is great or good because Parliament enacts this or that,

but because its men are great and good .All great master teach the same thing.

Krishna saw that the basis is not law, that morality and purity are the only

strength. If we do not have in our doctors, engineers, administrators, teachers,

Page 137: Ripples Edition-II

politician, clerks, peasants, and workers men of strong character, all our plans of

rebuilding India are doomed to be failure.

LISTEN TO THE SOUND OF SILENCE

An old man lost his watch in his field. It was a very sentimental watch for him.

He searched high and low among the hay for a long while, later he gave up and

sought the help of a group of children who were passing by.

The old man promised the children that if they would found it ,they would be

rewarded. Hearing this, the children hurried inside and started searching. They

were creating a lot of noise while searching. They went through the entire stack of

hay but still could not find the watch.

Just when the old man was about to give up, a little boy went up to him and

asked to give him another chance. The old man agreed for it. Then the boy went

alone inside the field. After a while the little boy came out with the watch in his

hand! The man was both happy and surprised. And so he asked the boy how he

succeeded where the rest had failed.

Then the boy replied that he simply sat quietly inside and tried to listen the ticking

sound of the watch and got the watch.

NEVER HAVE TENSION

The moment you are in tension,

You lose your attention

Then you are in total confusion,

And you will feel irritation

And you will spoil your personal relation,

Ultimately you won’t get co-operation

Then there will be complication

Your blood pressure may also rise caution

And you may have to take medication,

Instead understand the situation.

And try to think about the solution,

Many problems will be solved by discussion.

Which will work out better in your profession.

Don’t think it’s my free suggestion

This is only for your precaution

If you understand my intension

Then you will never again have tension.

IMPACT OF MODERN ENTERTAINMENT ON THE SOCIETY

The word 'ENTERTAINMENT' has different meanings for different people.

However, its dictionary meaning is said to be a performance or a programme.

Entertainment came into existence ever since Adam and Eve were born. To them,

entertainment was to explore the god given world. Then, came the age of Mujhras,

where people loved to sing and dance, and tune into their music. Later came the

selfish rule, which introduced the very fantastic game or sport of the today

CRICKET, though 'GILLI DANDA' was quite an entertainment for the masses.

As the time kept passing the interests and choices of common people kept

changing. Exploring and inventing always ended in bringing out sources of

entertainment. The new arena of modern entertainment has brought out to change

in the people. Now a days kids as well as adults prefer Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham

against the legend of Bhagat Singh. Since the era of movies, soaps and shows on

television started, the IDIOT box(TV) has bought in lot of chaos, among people.

The nonstop unending 'A' serials and the extremely exaggerating crime shows

which helps us in no way instant give ideas to the future thieves, criminals.Such

results make the television-which is considered as one whole part of entertainment

to the world more like a bane to all of us, unknowingly due to mentioned reasons

and next come the recent hot cakes the annoying cell phones and the misuse of

internet. These were one of the best inventions which ended with worst

consequences.Over the years man has given his own definitions for the word

'Entertainment in the bottle of alchohol,a smoker finds it in a pack of cigarettes and

gambler finds it in switching casinos. After all this, we shouldn't deny the

usefulness of entertainment. It means "Entertainment". which enabled man to think

and bring out the new ideas, innovations.Entertainment depends on how many

consider it to be.Now,I would like to conclude with Abraham Lincoln's quote with

little of my manipulation "Entertainment by the people, for the people and of the

people. Let's strive to make it a source of enjoying life rather than making it a

chaos.

Such was the life she led.

As the days passed by and she turned into a lady

She realized life is not a bed of roses,

When thorns started pricking her,

Trials and tribulations became part and parcel

Learnt from them the true meaning of life

Realized it was the test of God.

To remind her of 'HIS' presence

Because religious, pious and developed utter faith in God.

Learnt what cannot be cured has to be endured

Patience,endurance,forbearance

A QUOTE A WEEK TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE

God is silent partner in all great enterprises

We must travel in the direction of our fear

If your action inspires others to dream more, learn more ,do more

and become more, you become the leader

Seven basic fears include the fear of poverty, criticism, ill health, loos

of love, old age, loss of liberty, death. Since fear is merely a state of

mind, you can control it by taking action.

Today is first day of rest of your life. Are you satisfied with where you

are and direction you are going. If not take control of our life and

change whatever needs to be changed. You and only you have the

power to do this.
