FACTS…

The reality is an absence is an absence, excused or not, when you arenot in the classroom benefiting from the instruction on that day.

•Research shows that missing 10% of school, or about 18 days,

negatively affects a student’s academic performance.

That’s just 2 days per month!

•For every day of school missed, it takes three days to make up what

was taught.

•By middle school and high school, chronic absence is the leading

warning sign that a student will drop out.

3 Unlawful Absences:

The student is considered by PA law to be “truant”

4 Unlawful Absences:

The student is enroute to being “habitually truant”

6 Unlawful Absences:

The student is now considered “habitually truant”

Minor/ Major Discipline Referral System

3 Minors = 1 Major = Step 1 ** Minor vs. Major

● STEP 1 - ASD - Behavior Reflection Sheet.

● STEP 2 - ASD/ISS - Behavior Reflection Sheet and Regular Class Work.

● STEP 3 - ASD/ISS - Behavior Reflection Sheet- Parent Meeting-ASAP Referral (Explanation of what will occur if the student gets one more referral and reaches Step 4).

● STEP 4 - ASD/ISS - Behavior Reflection Sheet- ALL activity restriction.Behavior Book - Student must have each class teacher fill out the “check - in, check -out” form for the student behavior.

● STEP 5 - Further Interventions by ASAP team and administration.

Cell Phone Policy

Cell Phone signs will be color coded, visible, and posted in

classrooms and designated areas to alert students of permitted

use. The signs will read as follows:

● RED: “Possession Only”: Cell Phones are to be on silent and

out of site during classroom instruction.

● YELLOW: “Specific Use”: Cell phones are permitted for

specific instructional use.

● GREEN: “ General Use”: Cell phone use is permitted.
