Analysis of Existing Digipak - Disc

This is the disc cover for Rihanna’s album ‘Talk that Talk’. This a pop album that incorporates other genre’s such as HOUSE, DANCE, HIP HOP AND DANCEHALL. Like most R&B albums the disc has the artists name and album name printed on in an unique way. This album revolves around romance and lascivious lovers.

The cover suggests what music will be found on the album as she subverting from stereotypical female conventions by exhaling marijuana. This drug is highly associated with the Hip Hop genre. The camera here is personified as a male’s eyes because Rihanna’s mouth is open and exposing some of her skin. This sexualises her image and the eye contact suggest confidence within the star.
