Presenting the TRUTH, a clear Trumpet call.

Affirming that the Wordof God, none other thanthe KJV Bible is the truthin its entirety.

... Beauty for Ashes ...A periodical spiritual handbook, which is presentedin order to glorify Christ Jesus:To praise Him, and to offer thanksgiving; To show Him to be ALL that any true believer couldneed, or ever yearn for.

Beauty for Ashes has also the aim toexpress the reality of the Exchanged Life:There is Beauty, the Lord Jesus Christ Him-self, Whose Life is given for the Ashes of our ownsin-destroyed lives;Jesus Christ, Who is Himself, the whole of re-newal, sanctification, revival, the joy unspeak-able of Christian holiness. The Life that satis-fies the Christian, and pleases the AlmightyGod is found only in Him.

The wonder-filled words of Isaiah 61:3 might havea primary interpretation pertaining to the resto-ration of Israel. However, they also have a delight-ful, awe-inspiring application to the Church AgeChristian believer. Do you want to exchangeBeauty for the Ashes of your own fruitless-ness, independence, failure and striving to do bet-ter? Then come to the One Who is All you need.

Sitting at the feet of Jesus, Where can mortal be more blest? There I lay my sins and sorrows,

And, when weary, find sweet rest.Sitting at the feet of Jesus,

There I love to weep and pray,While I from His fullness gather,

Grace and comfort every day. (Source unknown).

Saved to the Uttermostand Prayer.

If ye abide in me, and my words abide inyou, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shallbe done unto you.

(John 15:7).

Saved to the Uttermost and Prayer.

But I have known about full surrender to God,and the higher Christian life (so-called) for manyyears, and I no longer believe there is such a thingas a higher Christian life! I have never knownpersonally anyone who seems to me to be living alife which is holy, and I sure cannot live one myself .I have tried! So dont bother me with this `higherlife, `full salvation teaching.

The above comments are not uncommon,in these days of confusion over doctrine,hyper-criticism of almost every aspect ofChristian teaching, and of nit-picking ineve r y a r ea o f B ib l i c a l i n t e rp r e t a t ion .

... Righteousness by Grace

Criticisms are coming thick and fast in our sorry day. Once thecritiques were about serious doctrinal matters, now even legimatebeliefs are being thrown out mercilessly. The critical experts say:there are no spiritual experiences which are of the Lord today; thereis no post-salvation fullness of the Holy Spirit; there is no other lifethan that lived by any ordinary Christian, just a plain walk with Christ, which always includes struggle, failure and living by our own effortsto obey God.

Are these cr i t ics r ight? Decidedly not , for the root of a l lChristianity is not our own efforts. The root of everything trulyChristian is the mighty power of CHRIST, not self. Does any believerreading this really think that Christ Jesus would save us by grace, and then leave us to lives which struggle and fail because we areliving by our own works? Let us look in this issue of Beauty forAshes, deeper into real, every day life with Christ Jesus. I am goingto be open with you about my own experiences on this fallen earth,we are going to get down to basics together.

Andrew Murray wrote this in Absolute Surrender p.124:Every tree must grow on the root from which it springs. An oak-treeof three hundred years old grows all the time on the one root from whichit had its beginning. Christianity had its beginning in the omnipotenceof God, and in every soul it must have its continuance in that omnipotence. All the abilities of the higher Christian life have their origin in a newapprehension of Christs power to work all Gods will in us....Have youlearned to deal so closely with God that you know omnipotence is workingin you?

These are the areas we will consider prayerfully:1. What makes the difference between a believer who loves God andtries to do Gods will, but fails, and a believer who is victorious oversin and self ?2. The life of faith and the prayer of faith.3. What is prayer really?4. Praying for others and the surrendered life.5. The mysteries of prayer, the thrill of prayer, the results of prayer

helping us of course) our own reality, andwe get what we desire, by our own powerfulfaith. That is the false premise. Faith inour faith ideas are fake, and an insult toour loving Heavenly Father as well. No, thetruth about this verse is far more wonderfulthan that. It has to do with our relationshipwith our glorious God - it is about the lifeof faith and the prayer of faith.

And Jesus answering saith unto them, have faith IN GOD. (Mark 11:22).

Je sus was answer ing Pe t e r who wasastonished to find the fig tree witheredaway, Jesus had made the tree barren withHis curse of it, as we see in verse 14. ThenJesus Christ answered the astonished Peterand the others by saying that if they hadfaith in God, they could even say to amountain be thou cast into the sea. Certainlya mountain is a much bigger object tohandle than a fig tree! The application ofthe fig tree incident is not our purposehere, so we will leave that for now. Theprayer of faith is our main focus, which isof mighty importance to us, especially inthese perilous times as the millenniumdraws to a close.

The prayer of faith and the life of faithin God are bound up together. Knowingthe Lord intimately and being absolutelysur rendered to Him is bound up withhaving our prayers answered. Jesus Christas our very l i fe, constant companion, shield, friend and confidant is the wholeof the life of faith, and the whole of the

prayer of faith as well! I want to think about this deeply with you,as I write. I, too, want to know what Jesus can do in my life so that Ihave a joyous, peaceful life in Him every day - no matter what happensin the future, and I want prayer answered in Him. Who knows what1999 may bring? And AD 2000? The best way, and really the onlyway to prepare for the months ahead, is to know our God in a intimateway, knowing Him as a Father in a reality which will cause us to trustin Him completely. Then let trials come like the Y2K crisis and wewill be at peace and secure in the Fathers arms!

If you were the child of a Godly rich man and your Dad was veryclose to you in love, how easy it would be to trust him when he said,go out and order what you want, charge it, and I will pay the bill.If the man was a stranger to you, and he said the same thing, itwould be much harder to believe him, especially if you did not knowwhat kind of man he was. Trust, and faith in someone, comes becauseyou know that persons character and reliability, and you realise theyhave the resources which can cover their promises. In the instanceabove relationship was also important, a father has a responsibilityto care for his own. Being in a close personal relationship with theLord has everything to do with the prayer of faith, we know we havethe things we request, because we know the One who has promised. If we live careless lives, hardly giving God any attention when weare living our normal lives, we cannot understand His mind onmatters, we do not have a deep enough fellowship with Him to ableto trust Him as a small child trusts a loving Dad. We dont knowhow to leave our griefs and troubles with Him, we dont know theGlorious One Jesus knew when He cursed the fig tree!

Just like salvation itself is a gift from God to those who repentand turn to Him, so the faith that receives like a little child, andknows that God will answer, is also a gift from the Lord. The life offaith cannot be separated from the prayer of faith, because they areso closely connected. The life of faith is one which always lives veryclose to the Person of Jesus Christ, just relying on Him for everything. When the weak little one just lives that way, prayer issues out of

Christian life,

life is not works, it is by grace throughfaith from beginning to end. How doeslegalism operate in every day life? Howcan we recognize this when we see it inourselves and in other peoples teach-ing?

Legalism or works will declare that if weread our Bibles, dont drink or smoke, at-tend church on Sunday, pray and have amorning devotion and so on, we are holy, godly Christians. This is all to do withwhat WE do to make ourselves over intothe image of a good Christian. Rather likethe old man in the illustration cleaningup his hut. The hut will always be just ahut, not a mansion. The rags will alwaysbe rags and filthy, not fine clothes. Even-tually someone who diligently works awayat becoming holy by works realizes thatthey are failing to become godly! Theyrealize they are just as much a mess asthey ever were. In fact, we can get into aworse mess by legalism, we can becomesmug and self-righteous, proud of ourspirituality, piously judgmental towardsothers, thus adding more sins to ouroriginal score. We cannot make ourselvesinto the image of Christ by self-effortand works, no matter how sincere wemight be.

SanctificationSanctification by the Spirit of God is

entirely different. The believer realizes that he/she will alwaysfail to live a godly life, turns in their great need to God alone, and cries out to be filled with righteousness.

The Bible says in Matthew 5:6:Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after

righteousness, for they shall be filled.

The way to holiness has already been prepared for us, in ChristJesus through the way of the Cross of Calvary. When we areempty of self and self-effort in a religious works sense, thenwe are ready to allow God to fill us with the very righteous, holy life, the resurrected life of Christ through the HolySpirit. When we realize what failures we are, then we can hum-bly allow God to work in us and through us, bringing ChristsLife to be manifest in us. It is sad but true that we can be savedyet still be carnal Christians. Those who still reckon themselvesto be good in their own effort and strength are in reality carnal.

Does trusting alone in the indwelling life of Christ in sanctifi-cation mean I, myself, just opt out and do nothing in the wayof disciplined living? Not at all. We will actually find ourselveswanting to do the very things that God wants us to do. We willlong for the Scriptures, love righteousness with all our hearts, find that we are reaching out to God in ceaseless prayer, justbecause godliness is being built into our new natures from theinside out. Sanctification by grace is not passive, it is activebeyond anything we have experienced before with the fruit ofthe Holy Spirit ( Galatians 5:22-26). And we will not be de-sirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one an-other because we will not then be legalistic and thus proud ofour imaginedgodliness. We will know that the progress weare making in Christ is all due to God and God alone, and will

them because the only way they can get closeto the One they rely on so, is to speak toHim and be with Him. The prayer of faithcomes so naturally because the believer inthat position comes to know intimately theOne they are abiding in, and they know Himenough to realise that He wants to give themtheir hearts desires - and will answer prayer.See how this is all connected?

I t i s no t enough fo r u s to t r y tomanufacture the faith that bel ieves andreceives when a crisis comes. That kind offaith is living, and is grown in us as a gift bythe Heavenly Father.Hear again Andrew Murray:

By faith I yield myself to the living God.His glory and love fill my heart, and havemaster y over my life. Faith is fellowship; Igive myself up to the influence of the friendwho makes me a promise, and become linkedto him by it. And it is when we enter intot h i s l i v i n g f e l l ow sh ip w i t h GODHIMSELF, in a faith that always sees andhears him, that it becomes easy and naturalto believe His promise as to prayer. Faith inthe promise is the fruit of faith in thepromiser : the prayer of faith is rooted inthe life of faith. And in this way the faiththat prays effectively is indeed a gift of God.Not as something that He bestows or infusesat once, but in a far deeper, truer sense, asthe blessed disposition or habit of soul whichis wrought and grows up in us a life ofintercourse with Him. Surely for one whoknows his Father well, and lives in constantclose intercourse with Him, it is a simple

thing to believe the promise that He will do the will of His child wholives in union with Himself . (p.89. ibid.).

3. What is prayer really? It is the faith in God that leads us to take everything to Him. It is atrust in Him that knows that He cares for us, despite the difficultiesof life. True prayer is a clinging to God even when the way seemsdark and the heavens brass. A faith that accepts His plan no matterwhat it may be. Prayer is a relationship with a Person, a speaking toGod. It is never a formal saying our prayers, or repeating set phraseswhen we are not even aware of Whom we are addressing.

Sadly, the modern day Christian often has a shallow idea of whatprayer is. The name-it-and- claim-it merchants, Benny Hinn, KennethCopeland, Howard-Brown and others have presented to churchgoersa God of their own invention. Christendom in the 1990s often seesprayer as the way to get all sorts of material blessings and honourfor themselves, from a heavenly Big Daddy who wheels and deals ina shocking fashion! Give Me one dollar, I will give you a hundredback! Bow the knee to the anointed leaders I have put over you,and I will make you a big name, and you will have riches and fame. The aim in prayer taught by the majority today is to get materialgoods, and if you havent got a grand car, a lovely house, money inthe bank, then you must be away from the Lord, because He hasntb lessed you ! You might even be cons idered a back-s l idden ,disobedient Christian if you are earning a modest income! Most ofwhat is presented by these people is exactly the opposite of whatGod wants, as taught in the Bible. Prayer is first and foremostknowing God, and speaking to Him, communing with Him. Prayeris secondly getting to know what God Himself is aiming at with us,and fitting right into His plans. We abide in Him, and He in us, andwe understand that He knows best - every time! Prayer can never beseparated from Gods Word, the Bible, His instructions and plansare revealed there.

In early 1994 Despatch magazine, Vol.5:1, p47, featured an article

which was wide ly apprec iated by manyreaders, it will be quoted here. It is called,

Others may...You cannot. The authoris unknown. The article gave insight into theway God is dealing with us, as shown in HisWord. It would be helpful to prayerfullyponder these words, as they give a fresh viewof the preciousness of real life with God,and help us to see how prayer fits into Hiswonderful plan.

Others May...You Can Not.

If God has called you to be really like Jesusin all your spirit, He will draw you into a lifeof crucifixion and humility, and put on you suchdemands of obedience, that He will not allowyou to follow other Christians, and in many waysHe will seem to let other good people do thingswhich He will not let you do.

Other Christians and ministers who seemver y religious and useful may push themselves, pull wires, and work schemes to carry out theirplans, but you cannot do it; and if you attemptit, you will meet with such failure and rebukefrom the Lord as to make you sorely penitent.

Others may brag on themselves, on theirwork, on their success, on their writings, butthe Holy Spirit will not allow you to do anysuch thing , and if you begin it, he will lead you

into some deep mortification that will make you despise yourself and allyour good works.

Others will be allowed to succeed in making money, or having a legacyleft to them, or in having luxuries. But it is likely God will keep youpoor, because He wants you to have something better than gold, and this isa helpless dependence on Him, that He may have the privilege of supplyingyour needs day by day out of an unseen treasury.

The Lord will let others be honoured, and put forward, and keep youhid away in obscurity, because He wants to produce some choice, fragrantfruit for His coming glory, which can only be produced in the shade.

He will let others be great, but keep you small. He will let others do awork for Him, and get the credit for it, but He will make you work andtoil on without knowing how much you are doing: and then to make yourwork still more precious, He will let others get the credit for the work youhave done, and this will make your reward ten times greater when Jesuscomes. The Holy Spirit will put a strict watch over you, with a jealouslove, and will rebuke you for little words and feelings or for wasting yourtime, which other Christians never seem distressed over. So make up yourmind that God is an infinite Sovereign, and has a right to do as Hepleases with His own, and He will not explain to you a thousand thingswhich may puzzle your reason in His dealings with you.

He will take you at your word; and if you absolutely sell yourself tobe His slave, He will wrap you up in a jealous love, and let other peoplesay and do many things that you cannot do or say. Settle it forever, thatyou are to deal directly with the Holy Spirit, and that He is to have theprivilege of tying your tongue, or chaining your hands, or closing youreyes, in ways that He does not deal with others. Now when you are sopossessed with the living God that you are, in your secret heart, pleasedand delighted over this peculiar, personal, private, jealous guardianship

Prayer is relationship with the Lord, andglad acceptance of His higher life in you. Itis much more as well, true, but that is whatprayer is basically. Prayer is not makingformal addresses into the air without eventhinking of or talking to the Lord Himself.Prayer is not a pious way of worr ying, fussing, and pleading. Prayer is moving inordinary life with your hand in the Hand ofthe Man who stilled the waters and calmedthe sea, as the song put it.

FAITH is needed at every step of thislife on this fallen planet. Our Saviour knowswhat He is doing with you, beloved of theLord. Consider the faith passage, Hebrews11, what a list of trials and seeming disastersit gives to us. Recently a missionary and histwo sons from Australia were burned alivein their car by Hindu extremists in India. But,Hebrews 11 shows that the history of thepeople of God on this planet runs red withtheir blood! This horrifying incident inIndia is no isolated occurrence in a worldteeming with rebels against the One trueGod, rebels who are controlled by Satan.Faith in the One who loves us so, can masterinsur mountable diff icult ies. This lovelyquo te f rom F. B. Meye r , wr i t t en onHebrews 11, is a joy to read. Praise God,He will take us through in triumph until wemeet Jesus face-to-face in glory:

There are many difficulties before us all. Stormy seas forbid our passage;frowning fortifications bar our progress; mighty kingdoms defy our power ;lions roar against us; fire lights its flaming barricade in our path; thesword, the armies of the alien, mockings, scour gings, bonds, andimprisonment - all these menace our peace, darken our horizon, and tr yon us their power ; but faith has conquered all these before, and it shalldo as much again. We will laugh at impossibility; we will tread theshores of the seas, certain they must make us a way; we will enter thedens of wild beasts and the furnaces of flame, sure that they are impotentto injure us; we shall escape the edge of the sword, out of weaknessbecome strong , turn to flight armies of aliens, and set at nought all thepower of the enemy: and all because we believe God. Reckon on Godsfaithfulness. Look not at the winds and the waves, but at His characterand will. Get alone with Him, steeping your heart and mind in Hisprecious and exceeding great promises. Be obedient to the utmost limitof your light. Walk in the Spirit, one of whose fruit is faith. absolutely surrendered life to the Lord, we will take into our beingsome of that hound intensity.

This is why Jesus Christ came to this earth:The Spirit of the Lord is upon me: because the Lord hath anointed meto preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up thebroken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening ofthe prison to them that are bound. (Isaiah 61:1).

How can we have our prayers of intercession answered? How are we to know how to pray for the lost?We are NOT sufficient for such a high calling, such a spiritualoccupation!Listen to that saint of God, Andrew Murray, in his bookThe Ministry of Intercession p.117:

The more we study and tr y to practice this grace of intercession, themore we become overwhelmed by its greatness and our feebleness. Letevery such impression lead us to listen: My grace is sufficient for thee, and to answer truthfully: Our sufficiency is of God. Take courage; it isin the intercession of Christ that you are called to take part. The burdenand the agony, the triumph and the victor y are all His. Learn fromHim, yield to His Spirit in you, to know how to pray. He gave Himselfa sacrifice to God for men, that He might have the right and power ofintercession. He bare the sin of many, and made intercession for thetransgressors. Let your faith rest boldly on His finished work. Letyour heart wholly identify itself with Him in His death and His life.

What does the above mean in a practical sense? When we learnthat we have no holiness in ourselves; when we turn to Christ in allmatters to allow Him to be everything of righteousness and holinessin us; when we stop trying to live pleasing to God, and trust Godto give us His own Life; then we are sharing Christs Life. In prayerwe are not to try to have faith, to pray correctly, to try to get answersto our intercession, we are to rest in Him, Who is living always tointercede. GOD will provide power in prayer, the ability to pray forthe lost, if we come as simple children who have nothing, and expect

Him to provide in Christ. We need time withGod, yielded, to take our place with Christ, and to let Him give us the prayer that canbelieve that we have received. How? Wecant, He can. And He will, if we allow Himto.

5. The mysteries of prayer, the thrill ofprayer, the results of prayer when we areabsolutely surrendered. As I wrote these words I felt so unsuitableto write about such holy matters. What do I really know about prayer?Yes, I pray every day, and lift many peopleto God in my prayers, but still I am a learner, one who has hardly touched the shallows ofprayer, let alone the depths of it. Lord, showme how to pray, what else have we got, whereelse can we go but to go to you?Does God expect us to be perfect, super-spiritual people before we can truly pray?I dare not believe that this is the case, formy needs are so enormous - there are stillmembers of my family who are unsaved andthere are friends too who are lost; my heartbreaks because of the evilness of the age inwhich we l ive ; my l i fe i s not ye t fu l lyconformed to the image of Christ Jesus - Ihave a long road to travel yet. Thank Godfor the cleansing in the Precious Blood, which I can receive each day in my daily walkwith the Saviour (I John 1:5-10).

Let me encourage the reader, I am a lessthan perfect believer just like you. God wantsto transform us all as we come in our needand weakness, seeking Him alone. He never

stops loving you and His eyes are upon His child always, every second.I know He wants to teach us the mysteries of prayer, the thrill ofprayer, you and I, redeemed sinners! He wants to take over and makeus powerful in prayer so that we see wonderful results. He will teachus prayer without ceasing, as we simply turn to Him in everything, habitually. How we do this is simply by doing it! O, what needlesspain we bear, and what peace we often forfeit, all because we do notcarry everything to God in prayer. And what failure, lack of resultsin service, loss of influence and misery others suffer - all becausewe do not carry everything to God in prayer. Can it be so simple?Yes, isnt everything in God simple?Although the following verses have a primary interpretation for Israel, they are certainly applicable to the Body of Christ in our day:

Isaiah 62:6:I have set watchmen upon thy walls...which shall never hold their peaceday nor night: ye that make mention of the Lord, keep not silent.Isaiah 52:8: Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice togethershall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye...

Our relationship to God, and our obedience in His strength, haveeverything to do with answers to prayer. NOT because of our worksgaining favour with the Lord, but because we can walk in the lightwith the Lord, there are no barriers between us then.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship onewith another... (I John 1:7).

To have confidence toward God, i.e. to really be able to approachHim with faith in Him answering us, our hearts must not condemnus! If we are in the habit of harbouring sin and we just do not feel infellowship and RIGHT before the Lord, then we cannot pray theprayer that believes and receives.

I John 3:21,22:Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence towardGod. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his

commandments, and do those things that arepleasing in his sight.

The mysteries of prayer are explained inthe Word of God. The Spirit of Intercessionis the Holy Spirit of God. Abiding in Christleads us deeply into His authority, and wethen find it so easy to pray in His Name. Aswe bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit, the LordGod can answer our prayers, because we arepraying within the Trinity of the Almighty! We are ordained to bear fruit, and to haveour prayers answered by God!

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosenyou, and ordained you, that ye should go andbring forth fruit, and that your fruit shouldremain, that whatsoever ye shall ask of theFather in my name, he may give it you.(John 15:16). Even the Spirit of truth;whom the world cannot receive, because itseeth him not; for he dwelleth with you, andshall be in you. (John 14:17).

Andrew Murray, in With Christ in theSchool of Prayer, p. 203, likens prayer tobreathing. This is an excellent illustration, for breathing must be habitual, it is such asimple act ion, i f breathing stopped theorgans of the body would not function anddeath would occur very quickly. Prayershould ar ise habitual ly, we should takeeverything to God in prayer; it is a simple, childlike action to come to our loving Fatherin all things; if we not do so our spirituallife comes to a halt; we cannot function

spiritually without a constant communion with the Father, in theName of the Son, through the pouring out of the indwelling HolySpirit.

Prayer has often been compared to breathing: we have only to carr y outthe comparison fully to see how wonderful the place is which the HolySpirit occupies. With ever y breath we expel the impure air which wouldsoon cause our death, and inhale again the fresh air to which we owe ourlife. So we give out from us, in confession the sins, in prayer the needsand the desires of our heart. And in drawing in our breath again, weinhale the fresh air of the promises, and the love, and the life of God inChrist. We do this through the Holy Spirit, who is the breath of ourlife.

And this He is because He is the breath of God. The father breathesHim into us, to unite Himself with our life. And then, just as on ever yexpiration there follows again the inhaling or drawing in again His breath, and the Spirit returns to Him thus the Holy Spirit is the breath of thelife of God, and the breath of the new life in us. As God breathes Himout, we receive Him in answer to prayer ; as we breathe Him back again,He rises to God laden with our supplications. As the Spirit of God, inwhom the Father and the Son are one, and the intercession of the Sonreaches the Father, He is to us the Spirit of prayer. True prayer is theliving experience of the truth of the Holy Trinity. The Spirits breathing ,the Sons intercession, the Fathers will, these three become one in us.

WE HAVE A FREE WILL.

One of the greatest mysteries and thrills of prayer is that you andI have free wills, and God works along with those wills. What anhonour and privilege. It is a fact that God wills many blessings forHis people that never come to them because they do not themselveswill those blessings. We have not because we ask not, or we ask amiss.Just because God wil ls something does not mean that i t wi l lnecessarily come to pass! The bringing forth of Gods will, in a lotof ways, is conditional upon our wills. We are to study His promisesto us, yielding to God, and we will have what we are willing to accept

by faith. When God has shown us in HisWord what He is willing to do for us, it isthen up to us to be responsible in prayer tobe l i eve Him, and accep t Hi s Word a strustworthy enough to be utterly relied upon.

As we abide in Him, and He in us, Hebreathes into us what He wants us to askand accept by faith. He cooperates with Hishuman children, and this is not allowing usto have too much say, or too much power. You are to live so closely with Him that Heand yourself are one.

Let us consider an illustration of waterpipes bringing refreshment, the pipes are notthe water, but they make the water accessible.Rather a mixed metaphor, but this quotebrings up a very good point on the free willof man in prayer:

A brother in the ministr y once asked, aswe were speaking on this subject, whetherthere was not a danger of our thinking thatour love to souls and our willingness to seethem blessed were to move Gods love andGods willingness to bless them. We were justpassing some lar ge water-pipes, by whichwater was being car ried over hill and dalefrom a large mountain stream to a town atsome distance. Just look at these pipes, wasthe answer ; they do not make the waterwilling to flow downwards from the hills, nordid they give it nature. All that they coulddo i s to dec ide i t s dir ec t ion: by i t theinhabitants of the town said they want theblessing there. And just so, it is the ver yna tu r e o f God t o l o v e and t o b l e s s .Downward and ever downward His love longs

to come with its refreshing streams. But He has left it to prayer to saywhere the blessing is to come. He has committed it to desert places: thewill of God to bless is dependent upon the will of man to say where theblessing must descend. Such honour have His saints. And this is theboldness which we have toward Him, that if we ask anything accordingto His will, He heareth us. And if we know that He hear us, whatsoeverwe ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked ofHim. (With Christ in the School of Prayer pp. 238-239).

Who knows what we may face in AD 2000, if Jesus Christ does not come for His Bride just yet?

We could face death as martyrs, just as that dear missionary and histwo sons in India did. The Lords Presence is all we need to face anytrial or persecution. He has already taken the sting and fear out ofdeath, what can possibly separate us from the love of God, which isin Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8: 35-39). Let us embrace HisPresence now, in relatively sunny days, learning ALL from Him -and so will we walk always in light, even though the events on earthmay be dark indeed!

By death Christ delivers from death. A child was in the habit of playingin a large and beautiful garden, with sunny lawns; but there was onepart of it, a long and winding path, down which he never ventured, indeed he dreaded to go near it, because some silly nurse had told himthat orges and goblins dwelt within the darksome gloom. At last hiseldest brother heard of his fear, and, after playing one day with him, took him to the embowered entrance of the grove, and, leaving him thereter ror-stricken, went singing through its length, and returned, andreasoned with the child, proving that his fears were groundless. At lasthe took the lads hand, and they went through it together, and from thatmoment the fear which had haunted the place fled. And the memory ofthat brothers presence took its place. So has Jesus done for us!

Fear not the myster y of death! - Jesus has died, and shown us that itis the gateway into another life, more fair and blessed than this - a life inwhich human words are understood, and human faces smile, and human

affections linger still....To die is to go at once to be with Him. (F.B Meyer, The Way into the Holiest p.39).

Being saved to the uttermost, in absolutesurrender to the Lord, has a head knowledgeof these glorious truths. May He create in us areality of the heavenly Life of Faith and thePrayer of Faith - that can do nothing less thanbring everything to God in prayer, and receivefrom Him the blessings.

That He would grant you, according to theriches of his glory, to be strengthened withmight by his Spirit in the inner man.

SALVATION IS A FREE GIFT!Are you still trying to earn eternal salvation by your our works? Wantingto earn the wages of Heaven by living a good life? Consider NOW,what are you trusting in, Gods gift or your own wages? The Bible says:For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves: it is the giftof God: not of works lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23).The difference between a gift and wages is significant! The only wagesever given by God to sinners is Hell! We can only EARN death in Hell, but the ones who get to Heaven are those who accept Gods GIFT ofLife. How can this gift be freely given? It was paid for by the Lord JesusChrist, who shed His own Dear Blood on the Cross of Calvary for usall.Without the shedding of blood there is no remission. (Hebrews 9:22)....The Blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin (1 John 1:7).But God commendeth His love toward us in that, while we were yet sinners,Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).

How can you receive this absolutely free gift RIGHT NOW!By accepting Gods offer, by accepting Christ Jesus as your own per-sonal Saviour. Come to God in prayer and admit to Him that you are aguilty sinner, who can never earn eternal life by pretending to be right-eous. Turn to God with your whole heart, turn from your sin by faith(Repent). Ask God to save you through the Lord Jesus Christ. Believethe Bible when it says:But as many as received Him (Jesus Christ), to them gave He power to becomethe sons of God even to them that believe on His name (John 1:12).For whosoever (that means YOU) shall call upon the name of the Lordshall be saved (Romans 10:13).Behold, now is the accepted time; behold now is the day of salvation (II Cor6:2).
