WHY RIFT VALLEY ADVENTURESWith over 15 years experience running International Award Expeditions, Sports Tours, Service Learning and Outdoor Club Expeditions, we are ideally placed to lead your group. Life skills that are hard to teach in the classroom come roaring to life on our tailor made journeys.

Focusing on the students’ personal, social and educational development, our flexible itineraries and tailor-made expeditions are suitable for all ages. All of our trips immerse young people in the culture of their host country, challenging them to understand more about themselves and others.

And that’s just the start of it. From full-blown expeditions in the outer reaches, to community service and conservation trips – you’ll find details in here of these programs and activities – along with field trips, mountain expeditions, and the Duke of Edinburgh International Award.

Students always come back with intimate knowledge and hands on experience of life skills such as effective communication, responsibility, understanding your team,

working together as a team for a common goal, leadership styles and resilience.

ADVENTUREAs an approved International Trained Activity Provider (ITAP), we regularly supply student groups with a host of different adventure activities wherever we operate. Some of our adrenaline packed trips include mountain biking, cycle safaris, canyoning, rafting, rock climbing, skiing, camel safaris, surfing and stand up paddling.

We only use fully qualified and highly experienced instructors - and all have an intimate knowledge of our locations and adventure pursuits. Why not link several activities into a memorable adrenaline packed package? Let us design a programme tailored to your needs.

MOUNTAIN EXPEDITIONS

At 5,199 meters, Mt. Kenya’s summit is blanketed by glaciers and snow with spectacular moorland separating the rugged peaks from thickly forested lower slopes. A five-day hike will reach Pt. Lenana, just under 5,000 meters.

Mount Meru (4,566m) is the second highest mountain in Tanzania and a much underrated mountain climb. It is a horseshoe-shaped volcanic crater with a spectacular narrow ridge and superb all round views.

MT KENYA MT MERU

A unique world lies above the walls on the high plateau of Mount Mulanje. High granite towers and spires, stunning moorland forests and waterfalls gives the perfect trekking experience and was the backdrop of inspiration for Tolkien’s “The Hobbit”.

MT MULANJEAs the highest point on Bali and the holiest mountain on the island, we trek the 4km to the summit for a sunrise over the spectacular Batur crater at 1,717 metres with views across the strait to Mt. Rinjani on Lombok.

COMMUNITYSCHOOLS FOR COMMUNITIESWe always want to put something back into the local communities we visit and work with. The aim of our “Schools for Communities” programme is to link students with local people to create a better understanding among children from different cultures and backgrounds and support development and education projects.

You and your school can make a real difference by getting involved in projects like setting up ICT Programs, improving educational facilities, school development and teaching.

CONSERVATION AT WORKBy getting involved in “Conservation at Work” you can help contribute to desperately needed wildlife and conservation projects in some of the most endangered eco systems around the world. Your visit provides funds for local communities and practical assistance on conservation projects such as maintaining rhino and chimpanzee sanctuaries, forest restoration and natural habitat protection.

The most well organised and best overseas trip we have ever done! From the learning and educational outcomes, to students pushing out of their comfort zones and having a great “Aussie adventure”, we couldn’t have asked for more.

KENYAWelcome to beautiful Kenya! It is in the heart of this spectacular country that we chose to lay down our roots. And who can blame us - Kenya is the jewel in Africa’s crown. It is one of the most exciting and naturally blessed destinations on Earth: with equatorial glaciers and savannahs packed with wildlife, all within site of each other. A trip to Kenya takes you to the top of Mt Kenya, a World Heritage Site, across the plains cycling with giraffe, elephant and rhino and out into the Indian Ocean to surf and snorkel the warm tropical waters.

Personal development is rarely more exciting and stimulating than on one of our specially designed expeditions. Get a taste of rural Kenyan life, along with some of the most thrilling adventures and a chance to make a real difference.

TANZANIAHome to the highest mountain in Africa, a wildlife hotspot and an adventure destination to take your breath away - Tanzania is an explorers dream. Amidst this vast stretch of African savannah with its dramatic cliffs, ice-tipped equatorial mountains and exotic wildlife, participants gain a massive sense of achievement from our expertly organized experiential programmes.

Concepts such as trust, responsibility, goal setting, team work and leadership - highly prized but rarely taught effectively in the classroom - blaze to life in the East African bush. Nobody comes back unchanged, and that’s exactly what we want.

Incomparable. You guys are awesome!

NAMIBIANamibia is the newest addition to our list of international school expeditions and trips. We took one look at the awe-inspiring, ever-changing countryside and were in a headspin: the cascading dunes, impressive coastline and that ‘Africa feeling’ makes Namibia our new favourite place.

In addition to having a striking array of cultures and national origins, Namibia is a photographer’s dream - it boasts wild seascapes, rugged mountains and endless desert.

MALAWIMalawi, often referred to as ‘the warm heart of Africa’ offers a stunning journey through spectacular landscapes and a rich cultural heritage. School groups can experience the diverse and tropical waters of Lake Malawi and the high mountain landscape of Mount Mulanje, all the while engaging with the cheerful, laid back Malawians who are always keen to welcome visitors.

The striking landscapes of both mountain and water combined with the ease and warmth of Malawians make it the ideal journey for first timers in Africa. It offers everything the adventure sports enthusiast would need and the project work is the perfect way to contribute something back into the communities you stay with.

The ‘warm heart of Africa’ never disappoints!

AUSTRALIAOccupying a third of the continent, Western Australia with its stunning beaches, relaxed atmosphere, small population, the world’s most isolated city (Perth) and miles upon miles of Aussie outback make this a cracker of a destination.

Our journey from Perth to the Coral Bay region takes in aboriginal culture, outback stations, humpback whale migration, the world’s longest fringing reef, camping, unique Aussie flora and fauna, this trip brims with Aussie Adventure! It is a culturally and geographically diverse continent that has everything a student group needs.

INDONESIAThe third most populous country on earth, straddling 5200km across the equator and 18,110 islands from the smallest with enough space for one coconut tree to the immense shared expanse of Borneo and the wild Sumatra. 5000m volcanoes, some of the best diving on earth, together with surf, sand, stunning highland treks even some glaciers, and bustling cities and markets to boot - make sure you visit this dynamic country.

A main attraction is the fascinating culture and diverse languages - from the animist tribes in the East to the Hindu kingdoms on Bali and Java. There are so many islands and opportunities for a variety of school trips.

THAILANDIt’s everything you imagine it to be: serene white beaches lined with palm trees, shallow seas teeming with colorful marine life and deep tropical jungles holding mystery and adventure - Thailand truly is paradise.

You can be drawn in by the friendly welcome, the colorful culture, the rich religious history or just the hope to experience something mind blowing.

Thank you RVA for your expertise in designing meaningful experiences for our

SWEDENBeing 66 degrees North of the equator, our trip to Sweden not only offers a great ski experience but so many other exciting winter sports. And to get out of the snow we take a look around the beautiful and historical cities of Gothenburh or Stockholm.

Sweden allows for a diverse range of trips - from the exciting cosmopolitan cities of Stockholm, Malmp and Gothenburg, to the rolling green hills of central Sweden and up to the clear white North to try your hand at skiing, building igloos, dog sledding or snow mobiles. We can even search out the impressive Northern lights!

We have had 26 sets of siblings pass through Rift Valley Adventures in the eight years we have been running trips and expeditions from our school in Brunei. Parents know they can expect the highest levels of nutrition, care and challenge when their children travel with RVA.
