1a. Simple Easter Egg Treasure Hunt IdeaOne simple idea is to take some hollow, plastic Easter eggs. Put the riddle clues inside them (with or without some candy). Place one at each of the locations you have selected. As your children run to each location, they can find the next clue.

For younger children you could just put an egg at each location near a taped up clue. For older children you could hide the egg near the location of the clues.

For team or individual play: As a variation on this idea, make each color egg unique for each player or team (ie. All green eggs are for one player, blue for another, etc...).

1b. Easter Scavenger Hunt - Cookie sharingMake a riddle hunt using Riddle Me. Next, choose a cookie recipe and print a list of ingredients. Cut the page to separate the list into 1 or 2 ingredients per slip of paper. Put your clues and ingredient slips in some hollow, plastic eggs and hide them in the locations you have selected.

As the hunters find each egg and pull out the clue and ingredient, have them go to the kitchen and put that ingredient into the mix. Then go to the next clue to find the next ingredient.

When you're all done, you can mix and bake the cookies. Then you could take them to a neighbor, to someone elderly that you know or someone in need.

Here's a simple chocolate chip cookie recipe you can use, or of course, use one of your own:

Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe (This is a large recipe so you have plenty to share):

1 ½ c. white sugar2 c. brown sugar3 eggs2 Tbsp. vanilla6 c. flour

1 ½ tsp. salt1 ½ tsp. baking soda1 lb. butter or margarine

3 cups chocolate chips (or 3 cups raisins and 1 1/2 cups oatmeal)

Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

1c. Easter Service Project Scavenger Hunt Idea

Print a list of service project items from the Riddle Me Scavenger Hunt feature. Insert each one into a plastic, hollow egg. Hide the eggs around the area. As they find each egg, they should go perform the service for someone in your home.

With adult supervision, this could be done in a youth group within your neighborhood or among people you know. (Never let children go door to door unsupervised).

1d. Christian Scripture Based Easter Egg HuntMake a riddle hunt with 9 or 10 clues using Riddle Me. Print out the list of scriptures listed below and cut into separate strips. Put your clues, scripture references, and a piece of candy inside some hollow, plastic eggs. Important: The scripture references must go in order. On the final clue, don't put a piece of candy inside the egg. It should remain “empty” to symbolize the empty tomb. (You may choose to add a 10th clue to have them find the last egg and an Easter treat surprise.)(1)John 1:1-31 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

(2)John 3:1616 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

(3)Matthew 11:28-3028 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

(4)John 8:1212 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

(5)Mark 8:35-3635 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. 36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

(6)Matthew 16:1616 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

(7)John 14:66 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

(8)Luke 23:4646 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

(9) (no candy--the tomb was empty)Mark 16:4-64 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great. 5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. 6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

(10)Luke 24:36-4036 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. 38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. 40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.

1f. Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt Make 50 “riddle” eggs and hide them all over a large field or playground. Create an answer sheet (in alphabetical order by the first letter in the riddle) and distribute to any helpers.

Divide the group into teams of 3 or 4 children. They will work as a team to solve the riddles. Give each team a pencil and paper to write down their answers. Also, each team gets two "hint vouchers" which they could use in exchange for a hint to help them solve the riddle. When they want to use a hint voucher, they just have to go to one of the helpers with the answer key. Use them wisely for each team only receives two hints.

Have a time limit. At the end, the team with the most correctly solved riddles wins, although you could give everyone a prize for participating.

2a. Flag Puzzle Riddle Hunt (US Version-customize for your country)

Create a representation of the flag on paper (or just print out a flag). Create a riddle hunt with 14 riddles. On the back of the paper glue the clue to your final location. Then cut the flag into thirteen pieces. (You could cut out the strips and blue area separately or into puzzle shape pieces - as many pieces as you want clues). Put a piece of the flag in each location with the clue to the next piece.

Tell the children they have to help make the flag by finding all the pieces. Read the first clue to send them to the first location. Once all of the flag pieces are found and the puzzle is put back together, they can read the final clue on the back to send them to the last location for a surprise!

2b. 13 Original Colonies Hunt (US version-customize for your country)

Have the children pretend they are the messengers telling each of the thirteen colonies of their independence!

Select thirteen locations from the Riddle Me inventory. Give each location the name of one of the thirteen colonies (Virginia, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maryland, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Delaware, North Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Georgia.) Place a copy of each states flag in the location.

Start your hunt by giving the children a clue to send them to the first "state". When they find it, they should say, "Happy Independence Day (and the states name)!" Then read the next clue to the next location or "state". Have them bring each flag with them so in the end all the thirteen colonies flags will be together - becoming the original United States.

You could make a parade with sparklers and the flags while everyone sings "America the Beautiful".

2c. National Treasure Hunt (US Version-customize for your country)

Have a paper representing the Declaration of Independence. Select locations you want the children to go to from Riddle Me's hunt inventory.

On the back of your declaration paper put the first clue and only half of the clue for each of the other locations. Then hide the other half of the clues with an item in each of the other locations. The items with the clues could be something like sunglasses, paper money, a piece of carved wood - items similar to the movie. Give the children the map and have them read the first clue. It will send them to the first location and the rest of the second clue.

The final clue would lead them to the “treasure”. It could be a cake decorated like the flag or gold coin candies.

2d. Historical Hunt (US Version)

Put clues to the each location inside red, white, and blue balloons. On the outside of the balloon, once it is inflated, write a simple question about Independence Day on it with a permanent marker or print them out and tape them to the balloon. Then hide them in the locations you generated with Riddle Me.

When the players come to each location, they must read the question first. When they answer it correctly, they may pop the balloon to get the next clue. The players should be allowed some help or be able to access the internet to look up some of the answers that stump them. Possible questions:

• What is the name of the paper that was signed declaring independence?

• In what year was the Declaration of Independence signed?

• How many colonies united to declare independence?

• Name one person who signed the Declaration of Independence.

• Who was the first president of the United States?

• What country did the colonies declare their independence from?

• How many stripes are on the flag and why?

• What do the stars on the flag represent?

• What is the name of the national anthem?

• What is one way people celebrate Independence Day?

First, select the number of items you want to find from Riddle Me's Nature Scavenger Hunt list. It will produce a random list of items. You can then substitute any for more "witchy" type things, like "something green", an animal bone, or piece of a dead log.

After your little "witches" have found all the items, put the items in a bowl or "calderon". Say some magic words and "poof", you "magically" produce some treats for them!

4a. Christian Scripture Based Christmas Treasure Hunt

(perfect for the night before Christmas to remind children of the true reason for the season)

Make a regular riddle puzzle with 10 clues. Make a copy of scriptures below and attach one scripture to each clue in numerical order. As the hunt progresses, you may want to discuss the journeys of Mary and Joseph, the shepherds and wise men. At the end of the hunt, you could allow the children to open one present in remembrance of the gifts that the wise men brought to Jesus.(1)Luke 21 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David)5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

(2)Luke 26 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

(3)Luke 28 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

(4)Luke 211 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

(5)Luke 213 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

(6)Luke 215 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

(7)Luke 217 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

(8)Luke 221 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

(9)Matthew 21 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

(10)Matthew 29 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh

4b. Christmas Scavenger Hunt Hide a gift for each child in an away place (like the attic). Instead of putting a gift under the tree, put a Riddle Me invitation with the first clue in it. Make a separate riddle “trail” for each person or team. (Donna did it by families.) Hide the clues in the appropriate locations. Have them begin looking for their clues using the following rules:

1.Start the game at the same time.2.Pick up the envelopes filled with the clues for your

team ONLY3.Read the clues in order. If you happen to find clue #

20 and you are looking for clue #3 then you can not touch it.

For a fun twist at the end, have the pretend final clue be at the same location where everyone has a small gift. Each gift has a simple music maker, ie. kazoo or spoons with a note attached, “You must play a song from beginning to end. Each person (group) must play a different song.” If you are the first person (group) to arrive at the location, you can choose any song. The next ones can't use that song. Those who win the music competition get to have the real final clue which would lead everyone to the real gifts.

5c. Birthday Baseball - (based on Abbott and Costello's "Who's on first")

Who's on First: The first clue leads to "first base" where they have to identify the person in a picture (a baby picture of the birthday child).

What's on Second: The second clue leads to "second base". Here they have to put their hands in a bag without looking and identify what they feel. (some of the birthday child's favorite things)

I Don't Know's on Third: The third clue sends them to "third base" where they have to answer questions they "don't know" about the birthday child, ie. How many toy cars do they have? What cereal did they eat that morning?

The final clue sends them to "home plate" where everyone enjoys a delicious treat.

• Give each child a printed page of all the Riddles Me clues (but blank out the locations above each clue). They should each have the same ones.

• Let them choose which place they want to look and in what order.

• They will be looking for a clue to help them figure out who it was and where.

• In each location, you could hide a puzzle piece to a puzzle that once they put it together would give them the answer.

• Or, they could find a paper with a letter on it which they could write down. Once they find all the clues, they can unscramble the letters to spell the answer to the mystery.

7c. Be an Explorer Treasure Hunt

Select three locations from the Riddle Me home inventory list.

• Make a "map" of the locations by putting the three clues on one page and drawing lines from one clue to the other.

• Give each child a backpack to collect something from each location.

• At each location set up a "problem" for the explorers to solve.

For example:

The first location could lead to the coffee table. Here they will have to put together a simple puzzle of an animal. They could then put that in their packs.

The second location could lead a pile of toy bugs. Here they will have to sort the bugs into ones that are alike and then sort them so each child gets one of each to put in their pack.

The third location could lead to the picnic table. Have some little toy birds. At this location, they have to make a nest out of playdough for the little birds to live in. Give each child a bag of playdough to put in their pack.

7e. Sing, Sing a Song Treasure Hunt

Choose locations from the Riddle Me home inventory list. Save the first clue to read later. Put the second clue where the first clue leads. Put the third clue where the second clue leads, and so on.

At each location, each person must think of a song about the location they have come to. They must sing at least one line of their song.

For example, the first clue may lead you to a flower bed. One person might think of the song "Yellow Rose of Texas". The next person may think of "Little Purple Pansies" and so on until everyone has had a turn. Then read the next clue, go to the next spot, and sing a song.

You could add to the challenge to see who can remember the most words of the song they have chosen.

7g. Dragon Land Treasure Hunt

At each location the children would help a "dragon".

For example:

The first location they would have to help Rainbow Dragon sort all the colored blocks into the correct box.

The second location they would have to help make a "bridge" for Earth Dragon to cross the "water". (They would have to use their imagination. The water could be a sidewalk and the bridge could be a large foam puzzle).

In another location, they would have to help Word Dragon finish a story by putting the correct letter to make some simple words.

They could also help Tic Tac Dragon play a game of tic-tac-toe or pick up sticks for Fire Dragon to make some roasted marshmallows.

Once they have found and helped all the dragons, they "fly" back to the kitchen for a yummy dragon snack.

7h. Round 'em up Cowboy Treasure Hunt

Each child will pretend to be a rancher and help round up the cattle.

Select several locations from the Riddle Me home inventory list, enough for each child to go to separated places. In each location, hide a toy cow or a picture of a cow.

Then it's time for the round up. For fun, each child could ride a stick horse.

Give each child one clue, different from the other children. Once they find where the clue leads, they should get the cow and bring it back. You can then give them a second clue and so on until all the cows are rounded up.

Happy customers of Riddle Me SoftwareI can't begin to tell you how many parties (ours) and many friends have included scavenger hunts be-cause of the program! I can't believe how much use (and fun) I've received from just one purchase. Really, one of the best on-line, leap of faith purchases I've ever made. I love how it keeps being up-dated and improved as well. Nothing bad to say! Super product!-Ruth D.

I got to use the scavenger hunt for a church event called "Kids Night Out." I made up two different scavenger hunts for two age groups and had the kids all running around....what a fun time they had! I also used the scavenger hunt for my 15 year old son on Christmas morning...you know...Santa got real creative this year!! I have spoken very highly of your product to many moms. Nice job--thanks! -Kimm E.

The hunt was a huge success. I had 4 teams with 4 or 5 kids on each team. They had a blast and the noise level was deafening! (there were 17 girls ranging in ages from 6-11, and one boy age 5). My daughter's team won (although she did have the home court advantage, and it was her birthday party). Thanks again,-Gina

All I can say is "Thank you" and "WoW"! Sitting down after a long saturday of groceries and a birth-day party to shuffle the kids to and from, I began the task of creating the kids easter egg hunt for tomor-row morning.. I know, I shouldn't have waited until now, but such is life! Anyway, what a great relief to find your website. Within five minutes and $20 I had my work done! The kids are going to absolutely love the clues, I'm just as excited about this as they will be... also, I have the answer to my son's 7 year old party in June! His friends will have a blast going on a treasure hunt. The $20 is definitely well spent, especially considering the invitations I can print, and other uses for the clues! (ie. rainy day activities) Thank you again!Joanne C.
