Dato' Jebasingam Issace JohnDato’ Jebasingam Issace John is the Chief Executive Officer of the East Coast Economic Region (ECER) Development Council, the statutory body entrusted by the Malaysian government to oversee the development of the East Coast Economic Region (ECER) Malaysia. Established by an Act of Parliament, the ECER Development Council spearheads the execution and implementation of the ECER Master Plan. The Council plays a leading role in setting the directions, policies and strategies in relation to the development of the East Coast region. Dato’ Issace is also tasked with preparing and executing all the Council’s programmes, schemes and investment projects, as well as the marketing and promotion of ECER. With over 30 years of experience, having served at both Federal and State levels, Dato’ Issace has involved in key high-level projects in Malaysia including the Klang Valley Development Plan, as well as the Langkawi, Penang and Kulim Hi-Tech Prior to joining PETRONAS, Malaysia’s national oil company, Dato’ Issace was one of the key personnel involved in the Planning and Development of Putrajaya, the administrative centre of the Malaysian Government, where he spent 12 years in the Prime Minister’s Department and in Putrajaya Corporation. In PETRONAS, Dato’ Issace was the General Manager of Special Projects within the Corporate Planning and Development Division, leading the project team that undertook the preparation of the ECER Master Plan and the ensuing ECER project launch.

Robert PetoRobert Peto is President of RICS and Vice Chairman at DTZ, a global real estate consultant quoted on the London Stock Exchange with over 10,000 employees worldwide. For 9 years to 2008, he was Chairman of DTZ UK and a member of the Board of DTZ Holdings Plc. Robert is a member of the Bank of England Property Advisory Group, which provides the Bank with authoritative insights into the real estate sector to assist strategic decision making on, for example, interest rate policy. He is an internationally recognised expert in valuation standards and practice, and has chaired the RICS Valuation Standards Board, RICS International Valuation Professional Group and the RICS/Investment Property Forum Working Party on Calculation of Investment Worth. He has had wide experience within DTZ as a General Practice and Investment Surveyor covering Strategic Property Advice, Fund Management, Acquisition and Disposal of Investment Property, Asset Management, Landlord & Tenant relations and Lease Restructuring, Development Management and Valuations. He ran the Middle Eastern Office from 1983 to 1986.

MA FRICS | President of RICS and Vice Chairman of DTZ

Ahmad Suhaili Idrus Ahmad Suhaili Idrus is currently the Director for NKRA Urban Public Transport (UPT) and NKEA Greater KL/Klang Valley under the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) and Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) respectively in PEMANDU which is led by the Minister in Prime Minister’s Dept cum Dato’ Seri Idris Jala. He graduated with a first class honours in Mechanical Engineering from Manchester University and an MBA from University Malaya. He spent the last 30 years in the private sector mainly in heavy equipment and international oil and gas industries. His experience include technical services, sales and marketing, commercial gas, oil trading, project management and transformation. He served in Shell International Petroleum offices in Malaysia, Singapore and the UK at different periods in his 25 years career with the Shell Group. He then spent 2 years as COO of a Malaysian company developing oil and gas projects in Iran between 2007- 2009. Prior to joining PEMANDU in Jan 2010, he was Director for Integrated Planning/Social Development in Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) based in Johor Bahru.

Alan Collett BSc FRICS ACSI | Senior Vice President of RICS

Alan Collet is Vice President of RICS and Chairman of Allsop Residential Investment and Management. Alan joined Allsop & Co directly from The College of Estate Management in 1972, and became a Chartered Surveyor in 1975. He worked in the investment, agency, valuation and development teams at Allsop and became Managing Partner in 1994, and was Senior Partner between 1996 and 2006, now involved in fund management and residential investment and development, with a particular interest in the acquisition, sale and management of large portfolios. He maintains an active interest in development and marketing of the profession. Alan is also Honorary Fellow, Member of the Board and Trust of College Estate Management and Chairman of BPF Residential Committee of RICS.

Michael Newey BSc FRICS ASCI | Vice President of RICS

Michael is the Chief Executive of Broadland Housing Group (BHG) based in Norfolk, UK. BHG is a social enterprise owning over 4,600 affordable homes. BHG also provides training, support and employment services to vulnerable people. Michael is also Executive Chairman of St Benedicts Homes, a residential developer within BHG. Michael worked in private surveying practice with both Richard Ellis and Savills in London between 1986 and 1997. In 1997 he moved to the affordable housing sector, before joining Broadland in 2003In 2008 Michael undertook a three month secondment to the Victorian Government in Australia to advise on increasing capacity in the community housing sector.In April 2010 he was elected the RICS Vice President. He has previously served as Management Board Vice Chairman, and Chairman of the Communications Board, Public Affairs Committee, the Residential Policy Panel and the Junior Organisation. He has continuously served on RICS committees since 1986.

Mohd Talhar Abdul Rahman FRICS FISM FIoD | Group Chairman of WTW Group of Companies

Mohd Talhar bin Abdul Rahman is the Group Chairman of TWT Group of Companies. He is Fellow of the RICS, ISM, and the Institute of Directors, UK. He co-founded the Chartered Surveying practise of C H Williams Talhar & Wong in 1974. He sits in the Committee of the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Johor. His involvement with the surveying profession includes serving in the first and subsequent sessions of the Board of Valuers & Estate Agents, Malaysia, in the ISM Council on several occasions. He was the founder President of PEPs, the Association of Property Consultants in Private Practice. In the International scene he was in the Board of Management of the International Valuation Standards Committee and was involved in the Committee from its inception through to 1995. He served as Secretary to Commission 9 of the FIG between 1992-1994. He was a Council Member of the ASEAN Valuers Association during the 1990’s. He has written and presented papers on Real Estate Development and Investment issues at local and international forums.

Datuk Seri Michael K C Yam FRICS FCIOB | Managing Director and CEO of Impetus Partnership

Datuk Seri Michael K C Yam, 57, is the Managing Director and CEO of strategic, corporate and project management advisory firm known as Impetus Partnership. Prior to this he had an illustrious career spanning 30 years in the construction, real estate and corporate sectors with the last 12 years until 2008 helming 2 different award winning public listed property companies as their CEO. He was actively involved in the development and management of hotels, resorts, shopping malls, golf estates, international schools and various mixed developments not only in Malaysia but also in Australia, UK and South Africa. Michael Yam qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building and also a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors after he graduated in Building and Management Studies from the University of Westminster, UK in 1979.
