Stone-Veneer®

A real piece of nature!

Page 2: Richter

Your partner for furniture and architectural woodworking

Fantastic colours and surface structures are the result of splitting very thin stone layers. The GRP (glass fibre reinforced) back strengthens the stone layers of only a few hundreds of a millimetre thickness to become a plane sheet. Each stone sheet is unique.

We welcome your challenges.Eberhard Richter and Aristidis Tsakuridismanaging directors.

We create and produce products for the high end furniture industry,

architectural woodworking and lumber distribution. Together we

transform ideas to success. Our products are available as semi-finished

or completely finished:

• Edgebanding systems with competence in multi-layered

edgebanding in rolls

• Acoustic-Lightboard® – acoustically highly effective honeycomb

lightweight panels with micro-perforated surfaces

• Stone-Veneer® – real stone veneer ultra-thin for woodworking

Expect from us advanced and economically sound solutions – our

motivated and long time employees guarantee it.

The following pages will give you an overview about the variety of

Stone-Veneer®.

Perhaps only a minor matter to the Creator. But the combination

of existing conditions in some places of the earth during pre-historic

times has been the pre-requisite for the formation of slate. More

than 200 millions of years ago micro-grained depositions of clay mud

compounds were formed at the bottom of primeval oceans. These

compounds hardened by increased pressure and became mudstone.

Later during the formation of mountains these stone layers were splitted

by means of lateral pressure. During these processes the original

minerals were placed onto finest shear areas. They crystallized by means

of pressure and heat to become very flat minerals. The native rock

obtained a new foliated structure called slate.

Slate sources with many colours evolved in some places of the world

due to certain geological pre-conditions during the primeval formation

of slate.

These colour slates from selected sources are the raw material for

Stone-Veneer®.

The largest sources of quality colour slate which is only suitable for

Stone-Veneer® can be found in India, South Africa and Brazil.

Furnitures and interior woodwork can now finally be designed with

the natural surface of Stone-Veneer®. This was not possible in the

past with heavy, solid slate.

The variety of colours and the natural appeal to all the senses make

this architectural material very attractive. Colours like light grey,

natural or red and black exist for millions of years and have been

created through oxidation. The natural colours of colour slate are

resistant against light and UV. The original layers of colour slate are

extremely thin. With our specially developed technology it is now

possible for us to split these layers in a few hundreds of a millimetre

thickness.

Nano-Stone

This stone surface has a very thin water-jet tightened fleece on the back

and can be formed in a vertical and horizontal direction. This unique

product was introduced recently and won the prestigious “Design Plus”

contest in Frankfurt/Main.

Colour slate

The vivid oxidation colours are especially visible in Multi Color. Multi Color is a multi talent due to its colour, size and easy processing.

Quartzite slate can be found all over the world. But only the soft rock

from South Africa and India can be splitted for Stone-Veneer®.

Compared to colour slate being flat and thin, quartzite slate is medium-

grained or coarse-grained. Quartzite slate consists of quartz and of

layers of silicate. These ingredients make the surface glimmer and

lightly shine.

It is a long way combined with great skill and careful handling from the

stone quarry to the finished sheet of Stone-Veneer®. Due to geological

conditions in nature, only limited sizes of quartzite slate can be mined.

The splitting process of quartzite slate is more difficult and involves

more labour to split than colour slate.

The partly rough surface structure of quartzite slate should not be used

for horizontal panels like countertops or flooring.

Sandstone is a sedimentary rock consisting of cemented grains of sand

which mainly contains quartz. The sandstone for Stone-Veneer® Sahara

is mined in sand pits in Northern Germany. Sand is bonded vertically

with thermoplastic binders to large sheets.

Stone-Veneer® Sahara has a very attractive texture from its large

content of white quartz sand with stripes from light-brown to dark-

brown. Approximately 90 % of Stone-Veneer® Sahara is pure quartz

sand with a thickness of 1 – 2 mm.

Sandstone is suitable for interior and exterior applications. It can

be glued directly onto surfaces because of its backside support layer.

If heat is applied Sahara can also be formed three-dimensionally.

Sahara layers may also be glued onto engineered panels.
