Deputy Principal’s News Hello RRHC Community,

This week has been very challenging for students and staff at RRHC where we have had a number of people directly affected by the fires as well as a number of the community indirectly affected with the thick smoke blanke ng the area. Please check on friends and family who may be affected and please let RRHC if we can support your students.

Tonight signifies the end of a chapter for our Year 12 of 2019 with their School Formal taking place at the Workers Club. Best wishes to all students who have completed their studies and a commencing a new stage of life with greater independence, employment and ter ary studies. Congratula ons to those students who have already gained early entry to University, to those who already have employment, and to those who have no idea, enjoy this me between school and the next chapter.

As the weather heats up students need to ensure they have plenty of water and stay hydrated at this me of year. Please be sun safe during outdoor lessons. RRHC has cancelled the junior examina ons this week due unpredictability of the week. Students will be assessed in class through other assessments so it is very important that students a end school and their classes.

Our School Captain speeches have been postponed also. We will hold them some me in the near future. Next week Year 11 students will be involved in RRISK/Life Ready at SCU. This excursion will be an excellent learning opportunity and RRHC encourages all Year 11 students to a end.

“Life is unpredictable. Situa ons will move at their own pace, especially the ones we have no control over. We find ourselves at mes, angry at a possible scenario in a situa on that hasn’t even happened yet. Then, the exact opposite happens. Looking back at the thoughts wasted and false anguish, we’re all be er off with pa ence and an open mind.” ― Ron Baratono (actor and author) Regards Luke Woodward Deputy Principal

The Rivers Under 15s Netball The Rivers U15s Netball – Natalia represents RRHC U15s girls travelled to Yamba on Monday 4 November to verse Maclean High in the Netball Knockout Compe on. Maclean played strongly however, they were unable to match the depth of talent within The Rivers side, with our girls scoring 57 goals to Maclean's 20. Chelsea from KHC was par cularly valuable, hardly missing any a empt at goal. She was supported by Maddison (KHC) and Anna (LHC). Natalia (RRHC) was key to movement down the court with her energe c breaking and intercepts. Assis ng her in mid court were Chloe (KHC) and Cyla (LHC). Maclean faced a formidable barrier in The Rivers defence line up. Sienna (KHC), Saniquea (LHC) and Ruby all contributed mul ple turn overs, assis ng the team to a convincing victory. The Rivers next game will be against the winner from the Bonalbo, Casino, Kyogle and Alstonville sec on of the knockout. Good luck girls! Ms Ellis U15s Netball Co‐ordinator

Visited the Lismore Art Gallery to experience contemporary local art. Prepared a meal to enjoy. In the a ernoon they worked with perler beads, played board games and used computer technology to generate virtual reality environments. The Learning and Support Team
