Congratulations Choir and Dance Groups Congratulations to Richmond Public School’s Choir who participated in the Music Festival rehearsal on Wednesday, 5 September. The students performed with other students from around the Hawkesbury. I’m sure they will have a wonderful experience when they perform at the Music Festival in Week 2 of next term. Thank you to the students who have dedicated many recesses, lunch times and personal spare time to practice the songs. Thank you to Mrs Morris and Mr Domars who coordinated our students, spent many hours rehearsing with them and then organising the festival for next term. Tonight, 6 September, our Dance Group will perform at the Joan Sutherland Centre, as a part of the Blue Mountains Dance Festival celebrations. They are magnificent. These girls have given up their lunch times to rehearse choreographed routines and their hard work has certainly paid off. A special thank you to Mrs Wilkinson, Mrs Miller and Miss O’Connor for their dedication to the girls. Great work Richmond Public School! 2019 Enrolments Richmond Public School’s enrolment numbers are at capacity point. Most classes are at Department of Education Enrolment Policy level and Richmond Public School’s Enrolment Panel has had to decline many out-of-area applications. If you have a child or know of a family whom intend on sending their child to Richmond Public School in 2019, please have them notify the office as soon as possible. Mufti Jump Rope 4 Heart Day Our School ‘Jump Off’ will be on Tuesday, 11 September 2018. Thank you to Miss Margules for her organisation of this event, and to all of the teachers and students participating in skipping within their fitness sessions. The ‘Jump Off” times are as follows-

9.30-10.00- Stage 3 10.30-11.00- Stage 2

Staff Development Day Variation (Reminder) The last two days of the school year for staff are Thursday, 20 December and Friday, 21 December 2018, with students ending their year on Wednesday, 19 December. Both days are Staff Development Days that are set aside for Professional Learning for all staff. However, to get the maximum use of this time, all schools have the opportunity to vary the last Staff Development Days to meet the needs of the school. On Saturday, 8 September 2018, Richmond Public School staff will be holding a Staff Development Day to replace Friday, 21 December. The Staff Development Day’s Agenda includes:

1. Developmental Trauma Training; 2. Teacher Accreditation; 3. Milestones 2018 - 2020; and 4. Visible Learning

By having the Staff Development Day early in the year it will benefit the school, staff and our students. Richmond Public School will be closed on Friday, 21 December 2018. Supporting our Farmers – 5c Coin Line Drive + Feeding Farmers Friday (Reminder) With the drought affecting so many farmers and their families, it has been decided by the staff and students that Richmond Public School will donate all money raised during our 5c coin line drive to support our farmers. Our 5c Coin Line Drive is on Friday, 14 September starting at 9:45am. On Tuesday 7 August, I made contact with the Principal of Coonabarabran Public School to discuss families within their area that require assistance; I am waiting for the school to contact me with a list of farms and families. I kindly urge

all families to collect as many 5c coins as possible for such a worthy cause. For those families who are unable to collect 5c coins, the school will also accept additional financial donations to go towards the fundraiser. In addition, our very popular and worthwhile Feeding Families Friday, which supports the homeless within the Hawkesbury will change for the month of September and will be titled, Feeding Farmers Friday. Again, I kindly ask that, when shopping, you purchase items for our farmers in this time of need. The collection point will remain in the school’s office foyer.

CONNECT Program Transition to Kindergarten 2019 (Reminder) Our CONNECT Kindergarten Transition Program is again being implemented at Richmond Public School. This is a very valuable program as it assists our new Kindergraten students in adjusting to ‘big school’. During the program, the students borrow from the library, become familiar with the school environment, meet the teachers and the Principal and participate in many of the activities that they will be involved in next year. The CONNECT Program began on Friday 27 July, 2018 and runs every Friday in Terms 3 and 4. The program begins at 9.10am and will conclude at 11.00am. All 2019 Kindergarten students and parent/caregivers are to meet in the new hall. There is a flyer further into this Newsletter regarding our CONNECT Program.

We are very pleased to share, that our hard working P&C Fundraising Committee have contributed funds to the school for the purchase of new Promethean Boards for classrooms. These Promethean Boards will be installed over the next term break. Thank you to all of the families who have supported our P&C ventures and have made it possible to contribute to the students of Richmond Public School. We hope all of our fathers and grandfathers are enjoying their lovely gifts that were purchased from our Father’s Day Stall last week. Anybody who would like to help with any of our upcoming or future events, please leave your name and contact details for Brooke at the front office. We also encourage as many parents and caregivers as possible to get involved with our P & C, whether it be volunteering your time to our fundraising events or coming along to the meetings to have your say and provide us with new and fresh ideas. P&C meetings are on Mondays 7-8pm (sharp), Week 4 and Week 8 of each term. The next meeting is

Monday, 5 October. All are welcome to come along, it is always exciting to see new faces and hear new ideas to keep our school the great place it is. The staff of Richmond Public School provide babysitting if required.
