March 2009 – August 2009 Saipem UK - Lead Engineer Frigg 2009 DecommissioningRemoval of the Quarters Platform (QP) - Pre and post transit survey of the route into the Aker stored facility. Dredging of the pile locations, diamond wire cutting of the piles and one piece removal of the jacket by the S7000 .
Removal of the Drilling Platform 1 (DP1)Use of subsea remote intervention technology. Pre-dredging at level one, “piece small” subsea preparation, dismantling, lifting and transfer of jacket sections to subsea storage containers. General seabed debris removal. 11 weeks offshore operations

120km lay & burial of Fibre Optic product running from the BP Clair Platform through to the BP Schiehallion FPSO in the north east Atlantic, approximately 140km NNE of Cape Wrath, west of Shetland Islands. Workscope included, Subsea Clamp installation, dynamic riser pull-in and hang off assembly. Product tensioning at the Clair Platform. FOTA deployment at Schiehallion FPSO. Eleven crossings to bridge. Recovery and splicing of BU tails at the FT FO cable intersection. Trenching of the product utilises the T1 Wheel Cutting Tractor & ISU 150te Plough. Construction vessel Maersk Advancer. Project Value £6.5million.
November 2006 – April 2008 CTC Marine Projects LtdSenior Project Manager - Vessel Build. 106m “OCV Volantis”
Management of specification and build of the vessel. Designed for Construction / Trenching roles. Development and implementation of many innovative systems enabling the vessel to be configured to meet the various project demands efficiently. Features included “Plug and play” system philosophy, modular container garage and handling system, unique sea-fastening system and control room. Specialist team consisted of eight persons. Reporting to upper management. Project Value £70m.

Specification and management of lay system including 17m Carousel, Fleeting tower, Accumulator and Tensioner. A modular designed system capable of operation on multiple construction vessels in various configurations. Included vessel hull analysis, grillage design, analysis and build. Incorporated a unique sea fastening system allowing efficient mob/demob. Lay control integrated into the vessel DP system. “Plug and play” philosophy adopted for the vessel integration.. Project Value £5m.

Primarily designed for the integration of a 2500Te Carousel lay system on to the OCV Volantis, this unique seafastening system allows for efficient mob/demob of equipment on to vessels with no requirement for welding or burning on deck. Mob/Demob times cut from 4 - 5 days to approx. 6hrs.

LoFS (Life of Field Seismic) installation including field layout and installation planning, route and boulder clearance, J Tube Gravity Base design/engineering, Pipeline Bridge installation & system testing. The LoFS system included some 50km of product simultaneously laid and trenched in difficult seabed conditions utilising the CTC T3 wheel cutter trenching system. Project Value £11.5m.

September 2002 - March 2002 Saipem - Lead Engineer: - WBRS
Transferred within the Bluestream Project to technically assess and manage the “Wet Buckle Repair System” (WBRS) redesign programme.Initiated redesign of key elements. Involved in preparation of the schedule, procurement, logistics and cost estimates of the work.Mobilised the build site in Samsun, Turkey and finalised documentation to ‘As Built’ status. Co-ordinated / managed the 8-week rebuild phase of the equipment and FAT.

Established design / deployment data / criteria and all commercial requirements of the system. Directed the design scope and controlled / reported budgets and schedules to upper management. Commissioned specialist finite element analysis, feasibility study and advanced ‘real time’ modelling.Managed procurement / supply of materials & services, as well as manufacture / assembly of equipment. Executed commissioning and handover of project equipment to site in Norway and ‘closed out’ contracts.

Set up manufacturing site. Established management systems. Controlled / reported manufacturing budgets to senior management. Directed the conceptual designs, manufacturing solutions and procedures. Manufactured and built key machines Wrote and Co-ordinated the assembly plans, devised commissioning tests/ procedures. Implemented design / manufacture of test equipment, reviewed test data and set remedial actions. (value £10 million).
Technical: - 2Mw system designed to friction weld a variety of metals up to 12 ¾” API pipe.
