Possible Closure of Langley Secondary School As the community is aware, since October 2014 the Langley School District has been involved in a consultation process with the Willoughby community and the Langley Secondary family of schools. At the December 16, 2014 meeting of the Board a notice of motion was served to

consider the possible closure of Langley Secondary School as part of this consultation process. In considering a school closure, the Board of Education must follow the procedures prescribed in Policy No. 5029. This policy includes holding a required public meeting and a 60 day consultation period. A public meeting is being held at Langley Secondary School on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 7:00pm to gather information from the community about the impacts of the potential closing of the school. The 60 day consultation period will be completed February 14, 2015. As such, the Board of Education will not be in a position to decide on a Long Term Facilities Plan recommendation at the Regular Meeting of the Board on January 27, 2015 as previously indicated. The Board will instead hold a Public Special Meeting on February 17, 2015 at 7:00pm at the School Board Office to address the possible closure of Langley Secondary in accordance with Policy No. 5029. A decision on a Long Term Facilities Plan business case recommendation will be made only after the LSS closure is considered. Written presentations and requests for oral presentations (speakers will be provided a five minute time limit) at the February 10th public meeting will be received after Monday, February 2nd at: Office of the Secretary Treasurer 4875 222 Street, Langley, BC V3A3Z7 Or via email: [email protected]   Information on the Notice of Motion for Potential Closure of LSS and the  Long Term Facilities Plan is available at http://www.sd35.bc.ca/district/communications/default.aspx?ID=85
