1. High Frequency RFID products are typically used in industrial applications to follow a product through the manufacturing process. The transceiver to tagrange is typically less than 7.3 in (185 mm). ICODE technology is advantageous because the tags are available from numerous suppliers in an infinite numberof packages.

2. An application can track the process via the tag either by storing the data directly on the tag or linking the UID (Unique Identifier) to data in a server. In highspeed applications (>1.5 m/s), it's recommended to read only the UID into the PLC. If the tags are used on multiple machines that do not communicate witheach other, then the data is usually stored on the tag. By storing all the data on the tag, the data will be saved through power cycle events on the machineas well.

3. SLI-S tags are designed for applications requiring high tag security. Memory management can be password protected to ensure that only authorized usersget read/write access.

4. SLI-L tags are designed for applications which require privacy. Tags have a password protected Privacy Mode in which the tag will not respond tocommands until it receives the correct password.

5. High temperature tags are used when the tag needs to be used in extreme temperature applications. Temperature profiles are provided to show the length oftime the tag can withstand the given temperature.

6. Allen-Bradley offers label tags, smart cards, disc tags, and square tags, as well as tags for specialty applications such as high-impact and mounton metal. SLI tags are most commonly used in high frequency RFID applications.

7. These tags are ideal for applications where the tags move throughout the facility on machines that are not communicating with each other.

8. This section helps determine the recommended transceiver for your application. If you have a high speed application, it's best to choose the largesttransceiver which will provide the largest antenna range. This will provide the longest time the tag is in the field for read/write functions. This will also helpwhen tag misalignment occurs. If your tag will be stopped when all read/write functions occur and tag misalignment is not an issue, smaller transceivers canbe used.

9. The larger the transceiver, the larger the antenna field. The size of the field will determine how much time the tag will be in the field and the amount of tagmisalignment can occur without read/write issues.

DescriptionThe EtherNet/IP interface block is designed to solve industrial highfrequency 13.56 MHz RFID applications which require networking ormultiple read/write points. Local LEDs allow for quick visualdiagnosis of module status, network status, I/O status, and powerstatus.

Each interface block can have up to two transceivers and twogeneral I/O devices. This allows the RFID system to be easilyintegrated into an existing architecture. It also allows the RFIDsystem to respond to sensor input and vice versa. For example, asensor can detect the presence of an object and send a signal tothe transceiver to read the RFID tag.

The high frequency 13.56 MHz RFID system is also highlyconfigurable and expandable. The transceivers can be mounted upto 300 ft away from the interface blocks. The EtherNet/IP ports areconfigured as an embedded switch with Device Level Ring (DLR),which allows multiple interface blocks to be connected in star, tree, linear, and ring topologies. The RFID system is ISO 15693 compliantand compatible with tags of many different styles and sizes.

Features 13.56 MHz RFID ISO 15693 / ISO 18000-3 M1 Sealed housing rated for IP67 eliminates enclosure costs Low installation cost and easy to replace without rewiring because

industry-standard M12 DC micro connectors are used forconnection to the EtherNet/IP network and auxiliary power supply.I/O connectors are sealed M12 DC micro style

Single or dual-port EtherNet/IP, configured as an embeddedswitch, supports star, tree, linear, and ring topologies

Isolated power output port allows output device to be turned off, while maintaining power to the transceivers, the input port, andthe EtherNet/IP connection

Outputs electronically protected One- or two-channel RFID interface offered Two inputs/no outputs or one input/one output Compatible with all transceivers
