2. My main product and ancillary texts have helped not only introduce my artist to the world, but promote her highly also. The main product showed a full view of the artist and her talents, whilst the ancillary texts compliment the voyeuristic side of our artist. Looking straight at viewer Skin tight dress Looks airbrushed in seductive pose Singing Dancing Various talents of the artist are previewed in this one music video. 3. The combination of both media texts allowed my group and I to create an artist image that would hopefully be recognisable in future circumstances if our artist was to release another single. The music video focused a lot on narrative and sending a message to the audience about the type of genre our artist represents, whilst the ancillary side has allowed us to focus on building up our artist image by making her look very sexy and sophisticated something that was hinted a lot in the music video through the use of Mise En Scene of costume. Airbrushed Clingy dress that shows off figure Seems to be in deep though which connotes that our artist has a sense of mystery about her Leaning against a wall seductively Dance scenes are usually found in the generics of POP Close up of the artist and her male lead are shown to emphasise the intimacy between them both 4. Although we wanted to build up a voyeurism of our artist and sexualise the way in which she is conceived through the public eye, it was very hard to do so due to our actress being very young, as well as her feeling uncomfortable with in posing in various seductive positions. This of course meant that footage wise, it was a struggle to build up a sexual voyeurism that most POP artists tend to have about them. However the magazine advert and digipack have aided in bringing the more sophisticated and sexy side of our artist without exploiting her trust in us to respect her wishes to not pose in or wear anything extremely saucy. The ancillary text enabled our artist to position herself sexily along a wall in a very glam and tight dress. In our music video, a pan up of our artist in another glam dress was implemented to show that she did in fact attain a glamorous and stylish quality that female POP artists also have. However despite the attempt to look sexy and seductive in our ancillary task, I felt that this look was not fully achieved. The reason for us aiming for such a look was because we wanted to attempt to close the gap on what our video was missing. However in this circumstance it did not fully work. This is an image of the pan up of our artist to try off our artists figure Here is a digipack in which we wanted to replicate he sexual voyeurism in our own digipack. Rihanna however looks more seductive because of her more revealing Mise En Scene and the colours in the background aid in emphasising her skin tone. Something our digipack lacked. This is an image of our digipack. The same type of pose as the Rihanna digipack was tried out to help create a sense of seductiveness. However I do not think that it was as effective as Rihannas due to the background being very plain and droll. 5. Carrying on from the point above, intertextuality with other artists was an important aspect in ensuring that our artist and her future merchandise was recognisable. Female POP artists tend to use intertextuality both in their music videos and their digipacks to help create a sense of familiarity with their own fan base as well as the fan base in which they intertextualised from. Therefore my group implemented this same strategy by filming similar footage from the likes of Cassie, Jenifer Lopez & Esme Denters music videos as well as designing our digipack in a similar format to other female POP artists such as Esme Denters. Curtains can be seen in the dance studio background in our music video. Light is also shining from behind our artist. This is similar to the likes of Esme Denters music video. In this digipack, our artist is against a clear background which is similar to that of Esme Denters. Curtains are also present in this digipack so that the music video and our digipack can link. In this digipack a lot of the video image is recreated as Esme has light shining from behind her in this close up shot and she is wearing the same outfit. In Esmes music video, the Mise En Scene included light coming from behind the artist as well as her wearing a clingy outfit. 6. The digipack and music video combined in a way that helped bring the true artist image together. In the music industry, an artist image is created in such a way that the artist instantly becomes a role model for a huge fan base that feel they can relate to the artist in some way or another or can aspire to be like. The music video aspect showed our artist making mistakes and then becoming a better person from them as she achieves her dancing goal in the end. This hardship and perseverance trait is something that anyone in everyday life can relate to as there is always hardships that we can all overcome no matter how big or small. The ancillary text showed the physically attractive side of our artist which in turn can encourage many younger influential fans to aspire to be as pretty as. Having an artist in which looks visually pleasing not only encourages female fans to admire and aspire to be like but also attracts males fans in which can do the same also. Therefore the combination of attributes shown in the music video combined with the looks emphasised on the digipacks, has allowed my group to create a successful artist image that would fit in with our female artist from a POP genre criteria. This is Beyonces digipack. In this digipack she is seen to be very natural yet also very perfect. This has been done by using a close up shot to emphasise the natural features on Beyonces face combined with an airbrushed touch to add that hint of perfection that young girls will aspire to have. In our digipack we have implemented a mid shot. In this mid-shot our artist, like Beyonce, is portrayed as very simple. Our artist is not wearing any extravagant jewellery or statement pieces. She also is looking straight at the viewer, the same way Beyonce is. Another similarity is that our 7. The music video and digipack also relate closely to the genre that I and my group have chosen to portray. As we have chosen POP, most POP digipacks, colours tend to be simple but bold and full of symbolism. We have a red curtain in our digipack to represent love and attraction something that Chris Brown and Rihanna have also input in their digipack. However although this intertextuality worked in our favour I felt that our digipack could have been presented better. This would have been done, by having our artist stand in front of a dance studio instead of hiding behind a curtain as it would relate more to our music video showing our artist being confident instead of being portrayed as shy. In reflection this possibly was not the best representation of our artist, as by the end of our media product our artist construction was still not as how I would have liked it to be. Recurring red theme in POP digipacks Our artist is seen as a preserving, determined and a confident individual. This is shown through the progression of the dance scenes in which are artist is seen as gradually succeeding in her dance performance. This confidence should have been shown in our digipack and the location or a similar location should have also been apart of the digipack in order to link the two products together. 8. Our music video although slower compared to most POP videos, had a clear narrative in which the actress is very multi-skilled something that Beyonce likes to frequently show in her music videos also. Therefore both media texts have allowed me to establish the genre in which my artist is mainly resigned in for the time being. Our Digipack Beyonce Digipack Jessie J Digipack Alicia Keys Digipack Cassie Digipack 9. Building familiarity of the artist style and implementing an iconic symbol in which the artist can promote her brand image I feel has been established through a connection within both real media texts. In the music video our artist flicks her hair a lot as if to assert her attitude on knowing that she is talented. The artist is seen again touching her when she is in distress as if to show that even if she is weak she will shield it away and be strong. This same symbolism of touching the hair in both moments of great power and great distress has been input in the ancillary task also. In the ancillary task the artist is seen touching her hair and looking directly at the camera. This in turns ties in both the weakness and strength as in to show that our artist is more powerful because of both aspects. Therefore the link between the music video and print tasks help show that our artist physical features can be a mean in symbolising much more than what the eye sees. There are emotions and personal interpretations that can be made by the link of our artist just touching her hair. This then creates a sense of the way in which our artist represents herself as well as creating an image that is recognisable to our specific artist. Both touching their hair. Digipack Image from music video 10. To conclude, my music video combined with my digipack and magazine advert have allowed me to portray my artist in various ways that both show and compliment her characteristics as a new upcoming female POP artist to the world. Although there are some changes that would have aided me better in truly constructing our artist image up to the standard of modern female POP artists. If the suggestions I have made were to be implemented I think that our artist would in turn, be fit for the female POP category much more proficiently then she is now.
