Student (#/describe students): Bus Drivers Date: August 7, 2006
Step 1: Identify the expected behavior and describe it in observable terms.
When waiting for the bus (to approach) students will:1. Stand in line at Driver designated spot2. Keep hands, feet and objects to self, show what this means3. Wait for Driver instructions4.
Step 2: Rationale for Teaching the Rule (Why is it important, give examples)
1. a. To be safe b. So students know what order to get on the bus c. To be a safe distance from the bus2. To prevent injuries and accidents- give examples3. So you know what you are supposed to do
Step 3: Identify a Range of Examples
Positive Examples of the Expected Behavior(this is what the expected behavior looks like)
Negative Teaching Examples (non-examples, what not to do)
Remain standing in a straight line, with hands feet & objects to yourself at designated spot, and waiting for Driver direction
-hitting each other-crossing street with out Driver instruction-standing in a huge group (not in line)-touching the person or backpack in front of you.

At the bus stops while waiting for the bus:
Being SAFE is:1. Standing in line and off of the street, at a safe designated area. Why? So you’re safely away from cars and the approaching bus, so you don’t get hurt.2. Wait for driver’s directions.Why? So the driver makes sure the bus is secure and safe to enter.
Being RESPONSIBLE is:1. Arriving at the bus stop 5 minutes before arrival time.Why? So other students are not late for school.2. Line up appropriately and remain in line.Why? So you will be ready to board the bus when it arrives.
Being RESPECTFUL is: 1. Keeping hands and feet to your self, and respecting other people’s property. Why? So others don’t get upset and may cause a problem.
