    2.4 Communication unit2.4.1 Control type

The device is equipped with an SBus slave controller-type control. The slave controlleris used to connect several devices to a master controller. Inside the slave controller, the external and internal system buses are separated both logically and physically. The slave controller is equipped with a system bus module with several DIP switchesto configure the device. This system bus module is connected to the external SBus.The external SBus is managed via the system bus module. The system bus module remains in the bus structure. The SBus is thus not disconnec-ted during a device replacement and the system bus's settings remain intact. Theslave controller's active components are in fixed connection to the device.1 to 6 power sections can be installed in the slave device. The power sections’ ad-dresses are translated between the external SBus and the internal SBus, dependingon the slave device number. Up to three slave devices can be addressed from a mas-ter device.

2.4.2 Fieldbus interfaceThe device has a system bus module integrated in the slave controller for connectionto the fieldbus. The fieldbus is connected via plug connectors.Further information can be found in the chapters Electrical connections and "SBussystem bus module" (→ 2 60).

2.4.3 Status displayThe status display shows status and error messages and thus enables you to recordthe current state of the device. For more information refer to chapter "Status and error messages" (→ 2 70) and thedocumentation on the user program (for the respective system solution). In case ofquestions, contact SEW‑EURODRIVE.

2.4.4 Power supplyThe function unit consists of the following internal elements.

Supply system rectifierEnergy is supplied to the device via a three-phase current supply system and a linerectifier. The power rectifier supplies the DC link voltage.

5 Startup5.1 With device type PHC2.A‑A...M1-Z14A-00/... (SBus slave controller)5.1.1 Startup procedure

The following step-by-step instructions give an overview of the device startup proce-dure and lists other applicable documentation:1. Install the motor. Refer to the operating instructions of the motor for more informa-

tion.2. Perform mechanical installation again. For further information, refer to chapter

Mechanical installation in the operating instructions.3. Perform electrical installation again. For further information, refer to chapter "Elec-

trical installation" (→ 2 12) in the operating instructions.4. Switch on the device.5. Configure the fieldbus. Set the SBus baud rate and the slave device number. Fur-

ther information can be found in the chapters "SBus system busmodule"  (→ 2 60) and "SBus addresses of the power sections in the slave con-troller" (→ 2 64).

    6. Optimize the parameters according to your application.

5.1.2 SBus system bus moduleThe slave controller is equipped with a system bus module with several DIP switches.Use the S1 DIP switch in the system bus module to set the device's baud rate. Usethe S2 DIP switch in the system bus module to set the device's slave device number.

INFORMATIONChanges to the DIP switch settings are accepted only after connecting the systembus module to the slave controller.

The following figure shows an example of the system bus module being connected tothe device's connection block:

    Procedure

    1. Loosen the knurled screws [5].2. Remove the system bus module from the device.3. Use the S1 DIP switch to set the baud rate [1].4. Use the S2 DIP switch to set the slave device number [2].5. Connect the bus terminating resistor to the device at the last bus station.6. Install the system bus module in the device.7. Secure the system bus module with the two knurled screws.

INFORMATIONIf the device is located at the end of a system bus segment, connect it to the systembus network via the incoming system bus line only.To prevent malfunctions in the bus system, e.g. due to reflections, terminate the sys-tem bus segment using bus terminating resistors at the stations that are physicallyfirst and last.

    Revision – MOVIPRO® ADC72

7 Service7.1 With device type PHC2.A‑A...M1-..1A-00/...7.1.1 Device replacement

The device allows for a quick device replacement. It is equipped with a replaceableSD memory card on which all device data is stored. If the device has to be replaced, the plant can be started up again quickly by simply exchanging the SD memory card.

Prerequisites for successful device replacementObserve the following:• The devices that you want to exchange must be identical. If the devices have dif-

ferent configurations, a successful device replacement cannot be guaranteed.• You must save the data of the device to be replaced on the SD memory card be-

fore you replace the device. SEW‑EURODRIVE recommends to always backupthe data right after starting up a device.

    • Insert or remove the SD memory card only when the device is switched off.• With programmable devices, note that the status display depends on program-

ming. The module for the data backup function (data management) must be inte-grated in the program.

Replacing the deviceProceed as follows:1. Perform a data backup via MOVITOOLS® MotionStudio if you are not certain

whether the current device parameterization is stored on the SD memory card.2. Disconnect the device from the supply system.3. Remove it from the system.4. Remove the memory card cover from the housing cover.5. To do so, remove the SD memory card from the device to be replaced.6. Insert the SD memory card into the new device.7. Install the new device in the plant. Connect it to the supply system.8. Switch on the new device.

SD memory card as spare partIf you have ordered an SD card as spare part, it is possible that the versions of thebootloader software are different for the SD memory card and your device. In this case, the device remains in the following state for more than 5 minutes:

7-segment display Status LED S28.8.8 flashing Flashing green/orange

Proceed as follows:1. Disconnect the device from the supply system.2. Unscrew the memory card cover.3. Remove the SD memory card.4. Connect an SD card reader to your PC.5. Insert the SD memory card in the SD card reader. On your PC, go to [Computer] >

[SD] > [System] > "BootConfig.cfg".6. Open the file "BootConfig.cfg" with a text editor.7. Search the file for the following expression:

    true

    8. Change the value "true" to the value "false" for the parameter.

    The expression must now be:false

    9. Save the file.10. In the status bar, click [Safely remove hardware]. As soon as the PC confirms this,

you can remove the SD memory card from the SD card reader.11. Insert the SD memory card into the slot of the device and screw the memory card

cover back on.12. Connect the device to the supply system.13. Observe the instructions in chapter Device replacement from step 8 onwards.

    Revision – MOVIPRO® ADC 75

7.2 With device type PHC2.A‑A...M1-Z14A-00/... (SBus slave controller)7.2.1 Device replacement

The device allows for a quick device replacement. If the device has to be replaced, theplant can be started up again quickly by simply exchanging all plug-in contacts. Forsuccessful startup after device replacement, you must configure the S1 DIP switchand the S2 DIP switch on the slave controller's system bus module.

Prerequisites for successful device replacementObserve the following:• The devices that you want to swap must be identical. If the devices have different

configurations, no successful device replacement can be guaranteed.

Replacing the deviceProceed as follows:1. Disconnect the device from the supply system.2. Remove the system bus module of the slave controller of the device that has to be

replaced. To do so, unscrew the system bus module from the connections on thefront of the device.

    3. Remove the device from the plant.4. Install the new device in the plant.5. If the new device is to contain a changed baud rate or slave device number, make

these changes at the system bus module of the slave controller.6. Screw the system bus module onto the connections on the front of the new device.7. Connect the new device to the supply system.8. Switch on the new device.

INFORMATIONThe device performs several initialization steps. Do not switch off the device duringthis time.

ð The baud rate and slave device number set on the system bus module of theslave controller are available again.

    9. For applications with encoders, observe the chapter Reference travel after deviceor encoder replacement.
