    a. Acknowledgments

    Hydrologic and hydraulic analyses were performed by AMEC for FEMA, under theState of Alabama Office of Water Resources (OWR) Cooperating Technical PartnerAgreement. The revisions were made as part of the Wheeler Lake Risk Map project.The Wheeler Lake watershed is mostly in the state of Alabama, but extends intosouthern Tennessee. Floodplain boundaries were delineated using a digital elevationmodel (DEM) created from USGS 10m data.

    b. Coordination

    An initial CCO meeting was held on May 9, 2014, and was attended byrepresentatives of FEMA, OWR, AMEC, and constituents from throughout theWheeler Lake watershed. A final CCO meeting was held on April 20, 2015, and wasattended by representatives of AECOM, affected communities, state officials, andFEMA.

    c. Scope

    This revision includes updating existing approximate studies in the Wheeler Lakewatershed.

    For this revision Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) Case Number 08-04-4212P forWalker Creek was incorporated into the FIRM. This revision is based on updatedtopography, hydrologic analysis, and hydraulic analysis.

    d. Hydrologic and Hydraulic Analyses

    For the updated approximate studies, frequency discharges were computed usingregression equations published by the USGS in Water Resources InvestigationsReport 03-4176 titled Flood-Frequency Prediction Methods for Unregulated Streamsof Tennessee, 2000.

    For the updated approximate studies, water surface elevations of selected floodrecurrence intervals were computed using USACE HEC-RAS v.4.1.0.

    The LOMR for Walker Creek was incorporated and is reflected in the Summary ofDischarge, Floodway Data Tables, and Flood Profiles of this document.

    e. Floodplain Boundaries

    Floodplain boundaries were delineated using a DEM created from USGS 10m data.
