WACE Assessment

2 Lesson 1 - Throwing and the Rules of Ultimate Throwing – Backhand and forearm

- Students can throw Frisbee over a small distance in pairs/groups

Catching – One hand and Double hand

- Students can catch Frisbee from a small distance confortably without pressure

Rules of the game- Interception- Turn over

Lesson 1 - Passing and recieving - To be able to perform a

controlled rugby pass with a partner and in small groups. Technique should be demonstrated, appropriate ball height, distance and direction (backwards)

- To be able to receive and control a pass from a target player using correct technique.

Passing and receiving under pressure- Students are able to

demonstrate controlled passing and receiving during pressure and game like situations.

3 Lesson 2 - Forehands Forearm throwing

- Use sharp wrist action - Throwing over a small

distance

Catching single hand- Using thumb underneath

and fingers on top to catch Frisbee

- Arm out in front, anticipating movement of Frisbee and moving with it

Pressure - Possession activities such as

‘Piggy in Middle’ increase movement of individuals and anticipate movement

Ball control extension- Students build on their basic

ball handling skills and continue to focus on technique whilst moving.

Attack taking the touch- Students are able to

demonstrate an understanding of Touch Rugby by defending and using the “Touch” rule to gain ground.

- Students gain an understanding of the requirements of both teams when a “touch/tag” is made.

Leading

- Throwing Frisbee infront for student to invade oppositions area.

- Structured passing and movement

- Numbered passing to engage in moveing Frisbee up field, rather than playing long.

Defensive tag- Students gain an understanding

and can demonstrate correct defensive formations and tag

Advanced touch skills- Students are able to successful

attempt a range of higher ability skills from the game of touch rugby.

- Students are able to understand the concepts behind these skills

5 Lesson 4 - Marking and Pivoting Marking

- Tag – initiate movement away from individual

- Marking from infront, shutting down angles for the opposition

Pivoting

- Using outside foot to move turn away from defender to release Frisbee

sided games, students to umpire

6 Lesson 5 - Round robin CompetitionSplitting class into teams of 6 Explain the 10 simple

- Intitiation of play- Players line up on their end zone and the offendence throws the Frisbee to the opposition to start.

- Non-contact- Opposition can gain

possession when inticepted, dropped and out of bounds

Game play- Organise teams and play small

League Tag- Introduce league tag and the

changes in rules.- Tag instead of touch.- Defensive marker at point of

tag.- Play on if ball hits ground.- Dummy half can be tagged and

score without penalty.- Teams can kick on 5th tackle.
