Our Response to God’s Gifts

ReviewGod sent us his only Son, Jesus. God chose Joseph and Mary to care for Jesus. Joseph was Jesus’ foster father here on earth. We call Jesus, Mary, and Joseph the Holy Family.

Jesus taught us the Lord’s Prayer. We always pray the Lord’s Prayer at Mass. When we pray a prayer, we talk to God and listen to him in our hearts.

Everyone belongs to the Kingdom of God. The Beatitudes teach us how to serve the Kingdom of God.

Jesus Christ rose from the dead. We call this the Resurrection.

During the four weeks of Advent, we prepare to celebrate Jesus’ birth.

PrayerJesus, my teacher, help me always remember how much God loves me.

Faith SummaryGod sent his Son to show us that God loves us. Joseph and Mary were Jesus’ parents on earth.

Jesus taught us our most important prayer. It is called the Lord’s Prayer. In it we ask God to give us what we need. We ask God to forgive us and to help us forgive others.

When Jesus died, his friends were sad. When they found out he was alive, they were very happy!

Jesus is always with you.

My ResponseWhat do you tell Jesus when you pray?

Our Response to God’s Gifts

ReviewSaint Peter loved Jesus very much. He was one of Jesus’ best friends.

Jesus loved Peter too. He made Peter the first leader of the Church.

Today we find Jesus’ friends in the Church. We belong to the Catholic Church. Jesus’ followers make up the Body of Christ.

Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit comes to us in Baptism. The Holy Spirit guides us to do what is right.

The Holy Spirit helps us be happy. He helps us share our happiness with our neighbors.

We call Mary the Mother of God. In the Hail Mary, we ask Mary to pray for us. We can ask Mary to pray for us whenever we need help.

The most important part of Christmas is the gift of Jesus.

PrayerDear Jesus, please help me follow you always.

Faith SummaryWe find Jesus’ friends in the Church. The Church helps us learn to love those around us.

The Holy Spirit is with us always. He helps us be kind and loving.

God chose Mary to be the mother of Jesus. Mary said yes to God.

My ResponseHow will you share your happiness with someone else?

Our Response to God’s Gifts

ReviewSaint Thérèse loved God. She said yes to God every day. We can do little things for God every day like Saint Thérèse did.

Signs of Jesus’ love are called sacraments. Sacraments give us God’s grace. Grace is God’s life that makes us strong and fills us with love.

Baptism is the first sacrament we receive. In Baptism we become part of God’s family. The Holy Spirit gives us the strength to follow Jesus and do good.

We share a special meal at Mass every Sunday. Jesus is with us in his Body and Blood.

God wants us to talk to and listen to him. We can pray to God anywhere and anytime.

Jesus spent his life praying and growing closer to God. The Lenten season reminds us to live as Jesus did.

PrayerLoving Jesus, help me look for signs of your love. I want to know you are near.

Faith SummaryJesus gave us signs of his love. We call them sacraments.

The first sacrament we receive is Baptism. At Baptism, Jesus welcomes us into his family.

Jesus is with us at Mass. The bread and wine truly become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.

God is everywhere. God wants us to talk to him. We need to be quiet to hear God. Find a quiet time each day to listen to God in your heart.

My ResponseWhen is your special time to talk to and listen to God?

Our Response to God’s Gifts

ReviewSaint Ignatius showed his love for God. He prayed to God. He cared for other people. He followed Jesus’ Great Commandment: Love God and love your neighbor.

The Ten Commandments help us make good decisions. When we follow God’s commandments, we are at peace with God and others.

When we are sorry, we ask God for forgiveness.

Jesus loved and obeyed his parents. God wants us to love and obey our parents too. When we show love for our parents, we show love for God.

We help keep our world beautiful. We do this for God, ourselves, and our neighbors. All of God’s creation deserves our care and respect.

On Easter we celebrate Jesus’ rising from the dead. We are happy because Jesus saves us all.

PrayerJesus, help me follow the commandments. I will love God and my neighbor.

Faith SummaryGod gave us the Ten Commandments. They help us make good decisions.

We all sin. God’s love is greater than any sin. God always forgives us when we are sorry for doing wrong.

Jesus is like the Good Shepherd. He watches over us.

God wants us to obey our parents. When we do, we obey God.

God made our beautiful world. He wants us to take care of it.

My ResponseYou have learned about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit this year. How will you show your love for God? For others? For God’s great world?
