PASTORAL SERVICES APPEAL 2017 PROUD TO BE CATHOLIC KNOW LOVE SERVE As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are called to put our gifts at the service of our Lord. We are sent as disciples of Christ to serve in the name of the Lord. Our gifts to the PSA make a difference. PSA Pledge Envelopes and Informa-tional Flyers are available in the pews and by the exit doors of the Church.

Pledge Envelope and payments may be returned at any time by mail and in the collection basket. Visitors and guests are invited to contribute to the PSA.

FROM MONSIGNOR BAIRD: A provocative French novelist once put on the lips of one of his characters – a stinging challenge.

“You say you are a Christian. Then, where the devil is your joy?”

There, for many an unbeliever, is the real Christian scandal. Those who do not follow Jesus day by day do not demand that we be heroes simply because we are Christians. They may not even expect us to be good. But, the unbeliever does expect us to be happy men and women of joy.

May you know and share the joy of the Resurrection this Easter.

Reverend Monsignor Lawrence J. Baird, P.A. Pastor, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church Administrator, St. John Vianney Chapel

NEXT SUNDAY: DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY Saint John Paul II designated the Second Sunday of Easter as “Divine Mercy Sun-day” when he canonized Saint Faustina Kowalska. Today, many Catholics around the world observe Divine Mercy Sunday by

praying the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy or partici-pating in other devotions based on St. Faustina’s pri-vate revelations. The beautiful devotion of the Chap-let of Divine Mercy, generally offered on behalf of the dying and in reparation for the sins of the world, is prayed in our parish each weekday morning immedi-ately following the 8:00 AM Mass. Please join us!

presentation of the DVD film: RISEN, an American biblical suspense drama released in the theaters last year. It follows the epic Biblical story of the Resurrection, as told through the eyes of a non-believer, Clavius (Joseph Fiennes), a powerful Roman Military Tribune, and his aide Lucius. They are tasked by Pontius Pilate with solving the mystery of what happened to Yahshua (the Body of Jesus) in the weeks immediately following the crucifixion in order to disprove the rumors of a risen Messiah and prevent an uprising in Jerusalem. But Clavius soon undergoes a crisis of faith when he witnesses miraculous events during his investigation.

Join us downstairs in O’Donnell Hall this Thursday evening, April 20, from 7:15-9:15 PM. All adults are welcome. No admission charge.
