A NOTE REGARDING HOLY COMMUNION Welcome! In the Orthodox Church, reception of the Holy Eucharist is
reserved for baptized, chrismated Orthodox Christians who have prepared
by prayer, fasting and a recent confession. If you are visiting from a non-
Orthodox church or otherwise are not prepared to commune today, you are
welcome to receive some of the unconsecrated, blessed bread which the
acolytes are holding. We pray for all to be united in the Body and Blood of
Christ! If you would like to learn how you can enter into communion with
the Orthodox Church, please speak with our clergy.

THE EPISTLE (For Sixth Sunday after Pentecost)
Thou, O Lord, wilt preserve us and keep us from this generation.
Save me, O Lord, for the Godly man hath disappeared.
The Reading from the Epistle of St. Paul to the Romans. (12:6-14)
Brethren, having gifts that differ according to the grace given
to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if
service, in our serving; he who teaches, in his teaching; he who
exhorts, in his exhortation; he who contributes, in liberality; he who
gives aid, with zeal; he who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love
one another with brotherly affection; outdo one another in showing
honor. Never flag in zeal, be aglow with the Spirit, and serve the
Lord. Rejoice in your hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in
prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.
THE GOSPEL (For Sixth Sunday of Matthew)
The Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew.
(9:1-8)
At that time, Jesus got into a boat, crossed over and came to
His own city. And behold, they brought to Him a paralytic, lying on
his bed; and when Jesus saw their faith He said to the paralytic,
“Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven.” And behold, some of
the scribes said to themselves, “This man is blaspheming.” But
Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your
hearts? For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to
say, ‘Rise and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of man
has authority on earth to forgive sins”—He then said to the
paralytic—“Rise, take up your bed and go home.” And he rose and
went home. When the crowds saw it, they marveled, and they
glorified God, Who had given such authority to men.
A GOOD WORD
VITAMINS FOR THE SOUL "The Divine Eucharist is the sacramental extension of the Last
Supper. It is not a formal repetition of it, but the Last, the
Mystical Supper itself, for the same Christ offers and is offered."
-- Hieromonk Gregorios, The Divine Liturgy, pages 237-238.
"As the poor should give thanks to God and love the rich who do
them good, even more should the rich give thanks to God and
love the poor; for they are saved by the providence of God
…because of their alms." -- St. Peter the Damascene
"Never cease to give thanks for what you have received. Perhaps
we are not rich men when it comes to money and property, but
we are wealthy men in the eyes of God. He has given us many
unseen gifts, eternal ones, ones that cannot be taken from us. We
have been given more than we labored for. Rejoice, for God is
generous and merciful. He is the God of Love, and He loves us
all." -- His Eminence, Metropolitan JOSEPH
"Never confuse the person formed in the image of God, with the
evil that is in him: because evil is but a chance misfortune, an
illness, a devilish reverie. But the very essence of a person is the
image of God, and this remains in him despite every
disfigurement." – St. John of Kronstadt
"Christ, invisible to the bodily eye, manifests Himself on earth
clearly through His Church…The Church is the Body of Christ
both because its parts are united to Christ through His divine
mysteries and because through her Christ works in the world."
-- St. John of San Francisco

Old Testament Day Camp
Friday July 25th, 2015
7pm - Sat. 9:30am
Camp-out may be the favorite event the week, and is a
fantastic way to finish our summer program. All who attended
the morning sessions are welcome to come with their gear to
the cathedral lawn, and spend the night. Beginning at 7pm we
will have organized activities including relay races, and capture
the flag. We will have some light snacks, but please eat dinner
before arriving, and for animal safety we do not allow snacks
in the tents. After an evening of fun, all campers will be sent to
their tents at 11pm, and will be expected to immediately fall
asleep without any complaining or silliness. Parents are encouraged to accompany
any campers who need it, and please send only those who can make it through the
night without distress.
To camp-out you will need:
your own tent (set up after 4pm in the designated area)
sleeping bag & pillow
extra change of clothes
In the morning we will conclude our camp
with a delicious pancake breakfast. Please pick up
your camper by 9:30am Saturday.
