Rev. Fr. Kuriakose Puthukkattukaduppil CMI (1975–2015) Rev. Fr. Kuriakose (Gigy) Puthukkattukaduppil CMI (40) belonging to Nirmal Province Jagdalpur, superiror of Nirmal Aram Nakti Semra, was called to his eternal reward at 2.30 pm on 16 February 2015. He met with a tragic accident as he was on his way to Kotpad, our mission centre in Odisha, along with Fr. Antony Konumadackal CMI. The mortal remains of Fr. Kuriakose were kept in the Provincial House where all the priests, religious communities and the faithful could pay their homage. The first part of the funeral ceremony was held at the Provincial House Chapel and the body was taken in proccession to St Joseph’s Cathedral, where the funeral Mass and the final rites were conducted. The last part of the funeral rites was held at Nakti Semra cemetery. The funeral service was officiated by Mar Joseph Kollamparampil CMI, Bishop of Jagdalpur along with Bishop Emeritus, Mar Simon Stock Palathra CMI. The priests, religious and the faithful of Jagdalpur as well as of other provinces along with the family members and relatives were present to bid farewell to Fr. Kuriakose. Fr. Joy Chavarananickal CMI preached the homily. Fr. Kuriakose was born on 17 March 1975 as the first son of Mr. Scaria and Mrs. Rosamma Puthukkattukaduppil at Niravilpuzha in the diocese of Mananthavady. After his school education he joined as an aspirant in Chavara Minor Seminary, Dugoli on 15 June 1993. After completing his novitiate at Vinayalaya, Bhanpuri, he made his first religious commitment on 19 March 1997. He had his Philosophy studies at Darsana, Wardha and BA in Politics at St. Thomas College Pala. After his regency in Vimal Vidyashram and Chavara Sadan, Dugoli, he joined Samanvya Theologate, Bhopal for his theological studies. He was ordained Priest on 2 January 2008 by Bishop Simon Stock Palathra CMI of Jagdalpur. After his ordination he was entrusted with various assignments in the province as well as in the diocese. He served as the director of Nirmal Farm Nelasnar and the Priest-in-charge of the Christian community at Pusnar, Bhairamgarh. From 2011-2013 he was Priest in charge of Yesudev Ashram Bhiragaon. During this period he secured his M.SW from Christ College Jagdalpur. From 2013-2014 he did his special B.Ed at Sneha Sadan College of Education Angamali. From 2014 onwards he was the Superior of Nirmal Aram at Nakti Semra, Director of Nirmal Training Centre and Printing School and was taking classes for MSW students at Christ College, Jagdalpur. Fr. Kuriakose was a committed religious who in a very unassuming way showed his ever readiness to take any new assignments for the good of the people. He had a special love for the poor and down-trodden people and their welfare was his desire. As a young priest he had his own dreams not to make a success story for his own life, but for the growth and development of the poor and neglected of the place especially for the unemployed youth of Bastar. In this short span of life Fr. Kuriakose has shown his truthfulness to his entrusted duties and assignments, as the Lord wanted it from him making long standing impressions of his memory still alive in our midst. While we continue to pray for Rev. Fr. Kuriakose Puthukkattukaduppil, kindly perform the suffrages for him according to the D. 58b.

Province Day CelebrationProvince Day was celebrated on 12 February 2015 atNirmal Sadan Provincial House. Divine Liturgy wasled by our Bishop Joseph Kollamparampil CMI andthe homily was delivered by Fr. Provincial. After theEucharistic celebration we had a one-day picnic toNelasnar. Congratulations to the co-coordinators andspecial thanks to Fr. Jose Panthalanickal, Director ofNelasnar station!
