Rev. E. A. Paul, 71, died January 28 at his home near Lumberton following an illness which had confined him to his bed for about six weeks. Funeral services were conducted from East Church, Lumberton, Sunday afternoon, January 30, with Dr. Charles H. Durham in charge, and interment was in New Hollywood Cemetery. After attending the Southern Seminary, Louisville, Ky., Mr. Paul began his pastoral work in Robeson County. Later he went to Davis in Carteret County, where he served 12 years. Then he returned to Lumberton, where he has served the East Lumberton Church 28 years. He has served several other churches in addition to his work at East Lumberton. Surviving are his widow and four daughters, Janice and Elizabeth Paul, teachers in Long Branch School; Doris Lee Paul, educational director at St. Pauls Church; and Mrs. Vernon Tyndall. 1901-1903 NEEDHAM L. GASKINSHis pastor's pay was $50.00 a year and the membershipof the church was 61.1904 JOHN BUCHANNON NEWTONRev. Newton was a leading minister in the EasternAssociation. He was licensed in 1891 and ordainedin 1892. He died in 1916.1905-1906 WILBUR GRAHAM HALLRev. Hall was educated at Buies Creek (CampbellCollege), and at Wake Forest. He was moderator ofthe Wilmington Association for six years and a mem-ber of the State Mission Board for nine years. Hewas also moderator for the Mt. Zion Association forsix years. He pastored the Southside Baptist Churchof Wilmington for twelve years. The church had alarge membership (1,188). He died in 1950 and isburied in Fayetteville.1906-1907 WALTER LEE BRITTRev. Britt was born in Bertie County, North Carolina.He was ordained in 1893 and graduated from RichmondCollege in 1899. He pastored Davis and Smyrna churchesin 1906.
