1-Education & Family

Honorable Rev. Kayode is a native of the IjeroKingdom, Ekiti State in Nigeria. He came to theUnited States in 1977 to pursue his interest inManagement Studies and attended West VirginiaUniversity of Technology where he received both aBachelor of Science degree in ManagementStudies, and Honors asthe Ambassador ofGoodwill from the WestVirginia Secretary ofState.

He also received aMaster of Arts degree inEducationalAdministration andOrganizationalDevelopment fromKeane University, NewJersey.

The Rev. is married to

Adunni, and they areblessed with three girls and two boys. Two of his childrenhave also earned their graduate degrees.

2-Profession & Service To The

Community

In 1983, Rev. David Kayode received

his ordination from the Gospel ofFellowship Ministries and ChurchInternational.

He worked hard with families andmany communities to interact andunderstand their challenges with a

view to linking them to both

counseling and resources that willresolve their spiritual, social andeconomic challenges.

After working with communities andfamilies on a number of communityprojects for seven years (1983-1990),

the Rev. increased his professional and community service scope by joining theNew York City Department of Homeless Services (NYCDHS) as an Outreach TeamLeader.

He tirelessly made a huge contribution and soon became a New York StateCredentialed Alcohol andSubstance Abuse Counselor(CASAC) and has been practicingsince 1996 at the NYCDHS atNYCDHS Bedford-Atlantic MensAssessment Center in theBorough of Brooklyn.

Therefore the Rev. has beenconversant of all the social,economic, educational, housing,

medical and public safetyproblems that plague ourcommunities and had been in thebattle field for many yearsworking hard to combat them.

He has been a social and activistwarrior of the people.

His experiences from working at New York City Department Of Homeless Services(NYCDHS) has seasoned him and prepare him to be ready to play a larger role inhelping others to tackle their various problems in the society so as to improvethemselves, be successful, healthy and happy.

3-Recognition andAppointmentsIn 2004, the Rev. was honored with the SpecialOutstanding Professional Award by the

International Narcotic EnforcementAssociation, (INEA) for his laudableachievement in the field of substance abuse.

The Rev. has also been appointed as member ofNew York City (NYC) Community Board# 12and as a Legislative Aide for NYC District #28, in 2006.

He has also been listed on theAmerican Immigrant Wall ofHonor at Ellis Island, in NYC,and is presently a Non-Governmental OrganizationalRepresentative to the UnitedNations.

In 2008, he was honored by NewYork State Office of Alcoholismand Substance Abuse Servicesas a Credentialed Alcoholismand Substance AbuseCounselor of the year 2007-2008.

He was also recognized as an Internationally Certified Alcohol and DrugCounselor (ICADC) and an Internationally Certified Prevention Specialist(ICPS), by the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium(ICRC).

(Creating Jobs)We all know that like many other places aroundthe world, New York is experiencing the aftereffects of the global economic downturn in which

we are all affected. However, the City, State andFederal governments have made provisions tohelp you and me during this time.

I willstand

withyou ifyou are unemployed and lead you tosources of unemployments benefits, I willhost small business experts in my districtto talk to small business owners andadvise them to tap into existing resourcesthat will leverage their businesses.

I am going to visit all the MerchantsAssociations in my district and ensure that

while they are getting information to helptheir business from the City, they also helpall the people in need in my district.

As City Councilman, I shall address the double digit unemployment rate thatcurrently but unjustifiably plagues our community. I pledge to implement a robust,enduring and viable job development plan for our residents. Essentially, I shallmaximally utilize untapped business resources available both in and out of our

District.

Rather than allow these ready- to-use resources to go undeveloped, I shalloptimally put them to effective use. A key strategy of my vision is to organize andmobilize key interest groups both inside and outside of our community to effectivelyand immediately focus on tackling the causes of our double digit unemploymentproblem, so that TOGETHER, we all can move forward in a positive direction thatwill usher in prosperity, progress and happiness for all, ESPECIALLY FOR FUTUREGENERATIONS.

(b)-HOUSING(Creating Low Income

Affordable Housing)As someone who has worked with the homeless in New York City, I understand thechallenges that they face. I know even as I speak now that someone is homeless,not because they want to but because they do not know where to access the

information that will lead them to finding shelters.

We live in a City with a dynamic and sophisticated communication architecturewhich poses challenges for people in the community to access information. When Iam elected, I will shrink the communication gap in housing matters and link thepeople in need to sources where they can get help.

The housing challenge continues being a challenge in our district and people are notempowered enough to access information that works in their favor.

(c)-EDUCATION

(Improve Our Public Schools)As a parent who has successfullyworked with teachers in getting mychildren through public schools, I

am going to work with schools in mydistrict, community boards and NewYork City to give parents all thesupport they need to actively engagein the welfare of the children inschool.

When I go to represent you at CityHall, I will sponsor bills that willincentivize the parents involvementin the school affairs.

I shall commit to saving our public schools fromthe destructive and systematic attacks bycommunity outsiders, who surely have no stake

in OUR community! I shall not stand by andallow the futures of our fathers, mothers,

children, our brothers, our sisters, our cousins,our families, our friends, and our dear neighborsand fellow residents get destroyed by theuncaring and selfish actions of a negligible butfinancially entrenched few, who, either do notcare, or care to understand the implications ofwhat they do, as it impact on the future of ourchildren! Yes!

There is a clear relationship between the inaction

of people and not caring to learn how to read,write, and compute and finally ending up in jail!This is NOT what our community shouldrepresent! We can only fight this common causeby uniting and positively considering mycandidacy! I AM YOU! AND YOU ARE ME!

As YOUR MAN in the City Council, I will not allow the continuation of the dubioussocial misdeeds of cutting off public education to our community members, whichtranslate into having more of our kids, our fathers, our mothers, our brothers, oursisters, being sent to jail because of the lack of opportunities to get educated!

The social stigma of having served terms in jail ultimately presents fewer

employment opportunities due to their criminal records. We refuse to continuegoing on this path!

Please join me in NOT giving chance to the social injustice of cutting education,which will lead to incarceration. We shall play more prominent roles in Nationalengagements and have more of our kids being role models in areas of sports,academics and politics, in this our great country, the United States of America! Thisis our home! And we shall make it good!!!

(d)-PUBLIC SAFETY

(Combating and ReducingCrimes)

I want to encourage people from mycommunity to be active in theCommunity Boards and PrecinctCouncils and Community Boards. Once

the relationship between the police andthe community in strengthened, we aregoing to have a safer community. OnceI am elected I will be sendingapplication forms and furtherinformation for you to look at and startengaging in precinct councils andcommunity boards.

Further, I will make sure that your concerns are heard should any case regardingpolice brutality occur in my district. I am the voice for the voiceless.

Lastly, as your City Councilman, I shallensure that our streets will be much saferthan they have been in many years. Weshall work together to make the streetssafe! Once in office, I intend toimplement my new work-plan to key intothe aspirations and hopes of various keygroups in our community in order toensure lower crime rates, through moreeffective education, enlightenment, socialdiscourse, crime prevention, detection,reporting, recording, apprehension andsentencing leading to much greaterpublic safety on our streets, in our parks,

The future of our District is in our hands! We all know what our founding fatherswant! We all know what we want! Remember that I can deliver what you want. ButONLY with your support! Lets not leave things as they are and have been. Thechoice is clear about what to do.

As the situation in our community continues to grow worse, it is getting very clearthat no one has done anything to effectively remedy our communitysproblems. Yet our children are being born and they represent OUR future! Let usstand up for OUR future! Let us stand up for Reverend Kayode!

As American citizens, a vote for me is a vote for improvement to the quality of our

community life, such as employment, education, and decent affordable housing.After I am elected, I shall implement all my plans, so that I can effectively deal withthe twin problems in our district, such as, the growing number of homeless peopleand the lack of decent affordable housing.
